Im constantly searching for flavorful mexican food(none really in Montana!) So, when I travel, I'm yelping away to find the best and this restaurant met my expectations. We had chili verde and chicken Enchiladas, rice and beans. Chili verde had great flavor, little heat and meat was tender. Beans are what you expect them to be- creamy &made with lard. Enchiladas had tender chicken tiny red sauce and coji cheese on top. Pictures do this place justice and the waitress was very attentive and made sure we were happy. She gave us a pork tamale with red sauce to try and it was gone in 3 bites!! Lots of mexican restaurants to choose from in the area... try this one! Parking front and back. This location surprised my expectations. I read the reviews online and went to the location to give it a try. When I pulled up I saw no one in the parking lot and I thought eeeek not a good sign. But I went inside and said welllllll they say it's decent so I'll give it a try. I ordered some enchiladas cause I figured it's safe bet and tacos. While I waited the parking lot filled up with people and I thought wow I got in in the right time. Got back to my hotel and awwwwsome took place. This place is a hidden gem. Food was good...waitress was good...clean...we had fajitas and chili rellano...our biggest complaint was no menu! Have to stand and read menu on board above cashier! The chairs were small...kid size! The waitress spoke broken English and she repeated the name of the restaurant 3 times and I still can't pronounce it, but know what it means...to decorate with bright colored animals! Add a hand held menu and that will increase the likelihood of making it a 5 star read more

Came here to The Alebrije to satisfy a taco craving and ended up finding the perfect tamale! What I ate: a chorizo taco and a cheese and chili pepper tamale. What I thought: the chorizo taco had potential, but it was not a thought out taco assembly and The chorizo seemed really dry. Did not care for this at all. The tamale, however, was sporting a beautifully salted masa and tasty filling. For beverage selection: sodas, beer and a margarita in a bottle. I went with the margarita and it was quite good. Atmosphere: loud television showing some Spanish language drama. Plastic covered tables in a congested little dining room. There were very few stale looking chips in a basket for taking to eat with some of their really delicious salsa bar offerings. I just got the salsa. Would I return? Yes. Worth the wait. You have to call ahead for Tamales, and it can be an hour or so, but they are the most delicious fresh pork tamales I've ever had. I highly recommend eating here. While your waiting, enjoy the decor of sugar skulls and other colorful items. Also the staff is very friendly. read more

I ate here 3 months ago and it was clean, food was excellent and my meal was served on a beautiful Mexican clay like plate. Fast forward to present: every table was filthy, dishes stacked in the bin, salsa bar was low and missing serving utensils, my food (dine in) cape on a very thin styrofoam plate. Three employees, zero other customers, very poor experience and one tamale was like warm. New owners maybe? Perhaps they got slammed earlier and were beat, I don't know.
