Always find something interesting!

If I'm ever in Sacramento I have to stop by Big Brother Comics.. great selection of books, games, comics, and even have some pins. It's just fun to look around at all the neat stuff they have. Really welcoming and clean. Love that they have discount books, late hours, and a BATHROOM! Shop is in a great part of town next to some delicious restaurants.

Have been here a few times not necessarily looking for anything in particular but to browse and I definitely recommend! They have tons and tons of books, comics, and collectibles. The staff are super nice and helpful, it does get very busy during the farmers market days. The value here seems to be comparable to other comic stores and collectible stores I've been to. They have expensive stuff locked away but the staff answer all questions regarding the items since you can't grab them to look at them better.

went here for the first time to visit downtown sac and shop at a different comic book store i usually do. the workers there were chill and friendly. comics were brand new and carefully taken care of. ended up buying 3 comic books for $16 dollars which is not bad, will be coming back when i'm around sac again :-).

Got a board game on sale

This is probably one of the better collections of board games - comic book stores we've ever been to. Very impressed with the amount of board games they got on the shelves. A lot of games I've never seen before so it gave me some very good ideas on what we want to be trying next. Pricing is basically MSRP for a lot of items. Some board games are actually cheaper than online. And some I couldn't find online either. They will also buy your old manga as well. They definitely have a good collection here. Saw two rooms for some card game play in the back and there's a bathroom on the premises. They greeted you and heard some very passionate conversations with customers as well so definitely got some knowledgeable folks working here if you want a recommendation. Probably can come back when we are in the mood for more games or to sell my manga

Great store for various nerdy goods. They have such a wide selection of board games, comics, manga, and cards. You can spend hours here just browsing for good deals, especially if you're a fan of Magic.

New story line starting, had to get the first two!

I had to come back and leave an updated review after my visit yesterday. Big Brother Comics helped me become "a reader". I wasn't much into reading but one time on my way to the farmers market ended up in this comic shop. Now, sadly Anthony is gone buuuuut luckily Wilson is still there. I hadn't been there is a while, like 6 months or more and Wilson still remembered me, talked to me like a person and not a customer. That's kinda the vibe here, family style. He also recommended me a bad ass manga, it's my first manga too and I'm excited about this!! Check this place out, all the employees have the same welcoming personality and are good at helping point you in the right direction. Thank you for all you do.

Naturally, I spent most of my time downstairs. The bookseller on the lower level was so knowledgeable! We got into a whole conversation and they pointed me toward several horror picks I never would have found on my own, including some horror graphic novels I'm genuinely excited about. That kind of interaction is exactly why indie bookstores matter. They also have an in-person horror book club, which honestly made me a little sad because I couldn't join. If I lived in Sacramento, I would 100% be a regular here. Highly recommend if you're passing through.

I found three things I didn't know I needed within the first ten minutes. the selection is genuinely impressive across categories. fiction, nonfiction, history, art, local interest, vintage stuff you won't find anywhere else. prices are what used books should cost, nothing felt overpriced and I felt like I was getting a deal on basically everything I picked up. the R Street location is perfect, great neighborhood, easy to make it part of a longer afternoon in Sacramento. staff was friendly and clearly knows the store well. there's something about a good independent bookstore that just makes a city feel more alive and Beers Books absolutely does that for Sacramento. if you're visiting or you live there and haven't been, go on a slow afternoon and give yourself time to actually wander. you'll find something.

I was specifically looking for Mesoamerican mythology and history of colonial Mexico and I found it. Books are decently priced, they have both new and used. The price point is fairly accessible for the condition of the books. I love getting lost in those shelves it's the best part of bookstores in my opinion. Staff is always friendly and helpful, always willing to give you a free bookmark or a photo of a crop circle!

The staff is always friendly and willing to help you whenever you need it. On this particular day I arrived, and as I entered, I was welcomed in, which I appreciated. I quickly went to look for a book (Red Rising) that I had heard was a great read, and when I couldn't find it on the shelf, I went to the front door and asked the lady how it was organized and she let me know it was by theAuthor's last name. However, on the way back to the shelf, I did find it on a table on the new and hot items list. Somehow, being in a bookstore with other book lovers, you just feel a different vibe that you don't feel when you're outside of those doors.
