Let the pictures speak for themselves. I asked for basic weeding and the dead palm tree branches to be cut. What I got was piss poor work and bad attitude. During our final walkthrough he told me he sprayed round up everywhere and all the weeds will "Get burnt up by the sun." Here we are a few days later - not dead and still growing. I contacted Cheq and asked him to do the right thing. After an aggressive back and forth, he agreed to come back then hung up on me. 5 minutes later he sent me messages saying essentially sorry I'm not coming back, I'll take the bad review. I mean seriously, W.T.F?!? I don't know where all these positive reviews came from but my experience couldn't of been worse. Maybe he paid them. Idk. I'm a small business owner and I would never leave a client or customer like this. He obviously has no idea what he's doing when it comes to the MOST BASIC yard work. Super unprofessional. Okay... so after months and months of neglect, our backyard was literally a dry jungle. It was so bad, that if my 4yr old son went back there I probably wouldn't be able to find him amongst the weeds that were over 3ft tall! With summer now here, we were desperate to have a backyard again. I inquired to several other places with quotes to see how much it would cost to cut the grass/weeds, and I was literally shocked at their pricing. Thank God I continued to inquire at more places because that's when I stumbled on Big Cheq Services. What drew me to this business was 1) they were located in Oakley (we live in Antioch); and 2) they had GREAT reviews. So I did my usual and messaged the company through Yelp to see if I could get a free estimate. The response back was almost immediate, and what really stood out the most for me was that instead of having to come down and assess the condition of the yard (where I found other companies that came by to do this, jacked up their price), Cheq simply asked for me to send a photo of the yard and then gave me a flat fee, which compared to other businesses was unbeatable! When I asked when he would be available (and gave him dates and times to see what would work) none worked for him.. BUT he said he would squeeze me in on a Sat morning (I messaged him Thurs afternoon). So I was ecstatic. Cheq was very good at communicating and getting in touch. Unfortunately the day of, he ran into an issue with the job before mines, which at first caused a delay to when he would be able to come by... to unfortunately having to be cancelled. I was bummed to say the least since we scheduled our day around this. Okay, now here is what made the difference from a poor star review to this awesome one. The CUSTOMER SERVICE received directly from Cheq. I've never had a company that was so apologetic and really treated you like you were a loyal customer even tho you were first time customers. The whole time while he was dealing with the job beforehand he kept texting and was apologetic, and after the othee job he personally called to apologize and you can tell the sincerity of it was very genuine. When I asked when he was next available, he said that he would come the next day ANY time I chose. Wow. I could tell he felt really bad and wanted to make it up. So we asked if 8am was okay and he said whatever worked for us. The next morning he messaged me to let me know he was on his way (very punctual), then again in person was very apologetic.. and what surprised me was that he was by himself. The other companies that came by who took a look made it seem like it would take at least 2 guys for the job, but Cheq was a pro and seemed un-phased by our monstrosity of a yard. My husband even asked if he had time, how much extra would it cost to do the front yard (that area was not bad), but he said he didn't know if he had room for everything in his truck. So we were okay with that. BUT when he was done with the backyard he told my husband he would go ahead and do the front and let us choose the cost. Say WHAT? Talk about wow! The whole job (backyard AND frontyard) took about 2.5hrs (mind you this was a one-man crew). Cheq was very professional and sincere in his work. He really understands the concept of making his clients happy, and went out of his way and beyond to make-up for the original mishap that was beyond his control. There's a hunk hauling truck that parks at a house on my street. I called them first thinking that it would be super easy for them to pick up the junk that someone had tossed in front of my house. I called and even sent an email. Per yelp, they respond in about 2 hours. Yeah, right. Try NEVER! I try to support my community, but they didn't want my business. I was in a time crunch, so I continued my search. Big Cheq Services was listed in nearby Oakley and had good reviews. Why not? I'll still be supporting my local community. I called and he picked up. Gave me a quick quote (without a picture) and had set a date 2 days later. I text him my address, the quote we agreed upon and a picture of the junk to be hauled off. The following day we narrowed down a time. He was very responsive. He sent me a text when he was a few miles from my house, and showed up on time. He loaded that stuff without a problem.
