We started doing the lessons by zoom during COVID and we have stuck with zoom ever since by choice - less hassle and I can record the lesson material to practice from. I am awed that my hands can make such beautiful music now! I tried to be consistent - once a week with few cancellations. I originally just wanted to learn embellished folk music but at his gentle prodding I learned to read music and play some classical. Now it's mainly jazz and some Latin and world music. He is also the archetypal mad genius in a basement. I mentioned the Church of Euthanasia as an aside once, and Sam had taught the leader guitar. Also, in the middle if a lesson one time, he said "oh by the way pay no attention to my basketball player." and a 6'8" dude in full court gear silently walked through the room and out the door. They brought high energy and kept our guests on the dance floor all night. It truly felt like HPO was part of our family. They were very fun, personable, and easy to work with. We spoke with the lead singer a few times leading up to the wedding and they took every request of ours. All our guests raved about the band and still do. After the registration we encountered some difficulties. She went extra and beyond to help us continue learning and accommodated our special needs. I know she must have put in a lot of coordination work to make this happen. She made us feel the care and support from school, especially during this difficult time. Thank you Kristine. The school is in a spacious house and every room is sizable for practice or lessons. It is in a beautiful established neighborhood right next to Brattle. Teachers are so encouraging and nice. My child loves this place.
