Big Cypress Landing is a hybrid convenience store, restaurant, and art gallery on the edge of Big Cypress Preserve on Josie Billie Highway,. It was founded by Sadie Tommie Cypress, a member of the bird clan, and it has become a landmark on the Seminole Reservation. You may know it for its totem pole. When Sadie was a young girl she used to travel from her home in Hollywood to visit a sick uncle on the reservation. Everything had to be brought in because there was nowhere to stop and purchase anything. In the 70's Sadie began selling souvenirs and snacks under a chickee hut on Big Cypress. In 1980 a hurricane blew it away but she rebuilt. She erected another chickee where the current building now stands and provided a valuable service to community who was able to purchase the staples they needed. In 2008 the store we know today was built and named after the reservation's original Brown's Landing Trading Post that was here during the turn of the 20th century and located a mile southwest. The new Big Cypress Landing quickly gained a following for their large and juicy burgers. Today you can stop and grab a diner style meal, choose a snack and drink from the large range of choices, or purchase authentic Seminole made tribal arts, crafts, jewelry and clothing. There are a number of picnic tables outside under chickee huts to enjoy your meal at. This was a great place to stop and grab a drink before getting back on to Alligator Alley to head home and I enjoyed enjoyed perusing the art in the back room. read more

Big Cypress Landing is a one-stop shop in the Big Cypress Reservation. Inside you will find a convenience store, a cafeteria style restaurant, a gift shop & friendly faces happy to help you. Reina served this vegan satisfying sweet potato fries made with love. Dawn was happy to answer any questions with a warm welcome. The cold beverage section is massive & there is a surprisingly large selection of snacks. As someone who proudly supports local communities & businesses it feels good to spend money knowing it goes back to the Seminole Tribe. The store is owned by Janice Billie, a Seminole Tribe member whose family began the business. I would love to see more vegan options at the restaurant & in the food section. I created a nicely sized "snack stash" from what was there(they had oat milk!)Thank you for your kindness & hospitality! read more

Having only opened for business in 2012, Big Cypress Landing is a relatively new business operation to the area and though with a Clewiston address, I believe may be in an area governed by the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Tribal Council, a part of the Big Cypress Reservation or at least closely bordering it. As such, it's very unique, very Native American and for a convenience store and small restaurant has a lot to offer. The interior bright, spotlessly clean, having not only a restaurant facilities and convenience store goods but a special section selling Native American goods, crafts and art. As its location is not far from the 350 acre Seminole Entertainment Complex and Seminole Rodeo Arena, it's really a handy stopover for a meal or to pick up those goods you need or have forgotten. Besides being outstandingly decorative with its prominent Josie Billie highway facing totem pole, what I really like is that offers a super nice outside chickee hut picnic or dining area with two good sized picnic tables. read more

Great convenience store with a nice collection of Seminole goods, arts and crafts for sale. The cafe inside serves great food, I had the wings which were fried to order and to perfection. My husband had the hamburger and really enjoyed it. The staff were super friendly and kept the place very clean. read more

This is a lovely store to stop into. I love their food! Especially breakfast! I stayed at the RV resort down the road, and I met a lot of awesome people at this store. 100% recommend this store for anyone staying near by, or just driving through! :) read more

I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars for this business. It has a few Seminole Indian trinkets and souvenirs in a little room in the back of the convenient store. Prices were EXTREMELY high for a lot of the items ($45 for a small wooden tomahawk?? $15 for a tiny beaded bracelet?) I'd suggest sticking with the usual convenience items and purchasing your souvenirs at the museum or other business. On the plus side, there is a massive amount of parking and a large picnic area. The cashier did me a favor by taking my money, it seemed. So, I thanked her. read more
