Big Daddy's is less than 2 miles from our house. We went for an event recently. My husband had a pizza that he said was awful but I had a steak sandwich that was great. It was served with chips and a pickle. We thought it is stupid that it's so close and we never order from there. We needed dinner quick tonight so we decided to order a large steak sandwich and split it. I added a side of fries figuring one of us could have the chips and the other would have the fries. We get it home and discovered that there were no chips (there wasn't a discount for a take out order not coming with chips that I know of). We got to split the fries. The cold, soggy fries. My husband's half of the sandwich had a crumb of tomato on it and no lettuce. The owners of Big Daddy's know how to make good food and run a restaurant. They have for probably 40 years with Vans. I think the problem with Big Daddy's are the people working there. They're lazy and don't care. It's obvious that it's not their restaurant or reputation and that they just don't care. Service here was awesome! We were a bit confused at first. First Lauren came by and then Candice. We cleared it up in the end and realized they were both helping out. In either case, they were both very friendly and quick. Awesome job! Menu was pretty standard, pizza, subs, sandwiches and burgers. The pizza was good, a step above Pizza Hut but nothing spectacular. I got a white pie plus bacon, pepperoni, and olives...meh. Atmosphere was great however, I was there to watch a football game. Super excited that they were playing the game I wanted however, the tvs were all very small. If we say to watch your game, you had to crane your neck up just too see it because the tv was high up and too small. Even the main tv over the bar was small, and this is the one that they had the sound on. 4 stars for the service and the beer special. 3 stars overall for....food: meh meh, and sports bar set up: meh. read more

Upon knowing i was in Elizabeth City, my nephew called me from the Outer Banks and suggested that I dine here. Nice local family owned restaurant. The facility was spacious and clean. The menu includes Pizza, Pasta, sandwiches and oven baked subs. All the prices seem reasonable. I ordered the veal parmigiana that comes with spaghetti. Ready with minimal waiting. Ample sized portion. Good flavor. Not spectacular, but good. Lunchtime also has as an option a buffet of pasta and pizza. Server was polite and efficient. read more

We were coming here forever but the last two months have been off - first - why pay money ahead to rent a private room, only to be told they may seat people during your private party in your private party room? Ordered a veggie "hot sub" okay peppers, onions, cheese, mushrooms - who's gotten a hot sub with cold canned mushrooms? I cooked peppers and raw onions? Blech! Not one thing is Italian about that! Ordered garlic knots, they were stale. Husband got the chicken parm entree and the noodles were clearly not fresh, and the cheese wasn't even melted, looked like it was out of the bag. Sent it back, and they nuked the whole thing. So gross, not edible. Luckily, my MIL had ordered the Mediterranean pizza, and though the spinach was canned and gross, the rest was ok. I want to like Big Daddy's Pizza. But their prices have gotten insane - their "carryout special" for a one-topping "large" pizza comes to almost $20, including tax and a mystery "surcharge" (just $0.58 but what the heck is that for? We paid cash so what is the extra charge for?) On top of that, even though we ordered their "carryout special", when I asked for paper plates, I was told they don't have them and don't provide them. The bits of shredded lettuce on 3 of the slices were an unwelcome surprise to find baked into the cheese, too. We won't be going back, and that stinks because we really prefer to support local businesses over the chain pizza places. We don't recommend these folks, period. read more

I'm not sure what happened in some of the past reviews, however they must have been isolated incidents or just simply poor taste. After having been out of delivery range for awhile and steadily going to a solid pizza place for pickup, today we decided to order delivery (Uber Eats) from a second place after being very disappointed in another. Living in New Jersey for my childhood which has made me a pizza snob, I was simply hoping for a decent Pizza Place out here that wasn't Papa Johns, and I was blindsided in the most beautiful way by every item we ordered. We had the BBQ Chicken Pizza, Pepperoni/Olives Pizza, Bacon/Onion/Green Pepper Pizza, Hawaiian Pizza, Gyro Plate and Garlic Knots. The look and the aroma were spectacular. Every pizza had exceptionally low grease except for the one that it is impossible not to, the Pepperoni. Each pie had cheese tailored to compliment its ingredients. The red sauce was savory and slightly sweet, and the white sauce beautifully complimented the Hawaiian. The crust is close to a Sicilian style, crisp end crust and semi soft fluffy crust underneath. Every ingredient tasted fresh and absolutely amazing. The barbecue sauce was a perfect compliment to the chicken and cheese, and they put the perfect amount to not overpower the pizza. The Gyro Plate came with a whole block of Feta cheese, and that's almost worth the cost of the plate alone. The Tzatziki sauce was fairly good, as was the meat. The pita was good quality, the olives (seeded) were perfect for it, and had great fresh tomatoes. The Garlic Knots were the first thing I smelled, the first I opened and the first I destroyed. They were fresh, the dough must have been made today, and the garlic was perfectly chopped and sautéed in butter, perfectly adorning the top. If you've gotten this far, I highly recommend this place. Other than Granby Street Pizza (NY Style) in Norfolk, this is the closest to being back home that I have had since moving to Hampton Roads in 2015 and the EC area since 2020. I have not raves about a pizza place like this since I went on my Pizza trek around NJ/NY last year, and I will order from them until I die or they close, and I pray that it is me who goes first. And if that's not enough, they also have a CAR WASH! I will have to come in and check it out. Our pasta came out very quick and it was ice cold in some areas and warm in others. Overall, it felt as if I was eating a Marie Callender's meal. This was my first experience at this joke you call an "Italian" restaurant. I feel sick as I'm typing this. Let me tell you. DO NOT waste your money on this overpriced frozen TV dinner. We did not waste our breath saying anything to the waitress because microwaving this garbage for another 20 seconds will do NO good. This is by far my favorite restaurant in town! The bar has enough televisions to watch which ever game you want. The employees are polite and accommodating. The specialty pizzas here are, in my opinion, way better than Papa Johns. I suggest the PhillyCheeseSteak Pizza and the buffalo cheese dip. read more
