I like to walk - but it is tough on this course because of the distance between some of the greens to the next tee box. So, unless you have time for a 5 hour round - probably best to take a cart. The green fees are a little pricey - but I normally only play this course on the weekends- so I assume they jack up the prices on the weekends to take advantage of the cabin owners. However, I enjoy the course enough to pay a little extra.

They are enjoying themselves at both the large and very nice inside event space and the well groomed outside event space (separate from the back patio and driving range). The golf is a regular golf course. It is nine holes and they consider a full round doing the course twice (9x2=18). Do not let this discourage you because this is a very fun, very challenging and surprisingly forgiving course that you will want a second chance to master. This IS NOT A PAR 3 nine. This is a fun course with very different holes, some flat and some with surprising elevation. There are par 3 holes and "everything in your biggest club" long holes. Number nine is a mental challenge uphill. Number two tees off from high above the fairway. Trust me, the fairway on two is forgiving so go for it. The price is a good value. The course is always in good shape. I've walked this course, but I prefer to get a cart. It's a long course. It's easy to underestimate nine hole courses and to underestimate golf in farmland. We've been coming to Lakeview Golf & Pizza in Hayward for many years and have never had an issue…read moreuntil this visit. On hole 5, the owner and another employee were sitting on riding mowers talking in the middle of the area we needed to play through. They stayed there for over five minutes with no apparent concern that they were blocking play. Rather than continue waiting, we decided to hit around them. Unfortunately, my ball landed about 10 yards off the fairway and struck the owner. As soon as we saw where the ball was headed, we immediately yelled "Fore!" loud enough for anyone nearby to hear. The owner later claimed we never yelled a warning, which is simply not true. We told him to ask the people behind us and completely disregarded our offer and was adamant that he was right. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he drove over to our group of five and kicked us off the course, even though we had spent nearly $200 to golf that day. We asked for a refund since we were not allowed to finish our round, but he refused. After we finished the hole we were already playing, he threatened to call the police on us. When we later spoke with the owner's wife, she told us that he has been hit by golf balls many times before. If that's true, it raises the question of why he continues to sit in or near the line of play while golfers are actively playing the course. The entire situation could have been avoided if the employees had simply not been sitting where golfers were expected to hit. We were treated unfairly, denied the remainder of the round we paid for, refused a refund, and then threatened with the police. I also have a photo showing exactly where my ball landed in relation to the hole. After being longtime customers, this experience was extremely disappointing. I won't be spending another dollar here, and based on how we were treated, I can't recommend this course to anyone. In the photos below you can see my ball in the picture, straight ahead from where I took the picture. It looks to be about 20 yards from the pin, so in my books that's a great shot for being 157 yards out.

You have got to try this course a second time in order to truly understand it's layout. The golf shop is a very good place to buy shirts, balls, and it is a ping custom fitting center. The only one in north western Wisconsin. The Golf Professional and his staff did everything they could to make our stay the best. They have wonderful cheeseburgers and they make great cocktails at a reasonable price.
