Chuck came out and gave me a more-than-fair price (less than half what another place quoted, sight unseen), showed up as scheduled, and got the job done before I knew he was even there. We had Chuck come out and give us and estimate to fell some trees on our property. Another neighbor used him and his services during which his crew parked their heavy machinery On their lawn. When the neighbor came out and asked one of his crewmembers to move their heavy duty equipment off her lawn, they told her they could park anywhere they want to do it was an easement and they didn't have ownership rights to it. (This incident was posted on our resident FB page). I came home the same day to find more heavy equipment and trailers on my other neighbors lawn. I called Chuck himself the next day to explain that due to the way his crew had lashed out at my neighbor and showed a complete lack of disregard for my other neighbors yard by parking they're having machinery on his lawn we would not be accepting his bid. He told me that I didn't know what the hell I was talking about that I was just calling to add to the drama that I had read about on Facebook. I explained to him "no sir I saw it with my own eyes they were parked directly in front of my house." He continued to scream and yell at me and insult me and my neighbors. I explained to him that I was not calling to debate this with him I was simply giving him the courtesy of a call to let him know that we would not be using his services and why. His response was "what the F*** ever lady!" I don't give a s***!, and then hung up. He then immediately called right to tell me the only reason that I had called was just so that I could be dramatic. I explained to him that his outrageous behavior further solidified my decision not to use him because clearly his crew was simply following his example. This whole situation was so easy for him and his crew to fix. All they had to do was move their equipment off my neighbors lawn and when I called in to discuss it with him a simple apology probably could've saved the deal. Being kind and courteous costs you nothing however the lack thereof will be very costly. read more

Unfortunately for some reason, Chuck did not want my business. After being told delivery of my order of fire wood would be delivered Sunday and That I would get phone call. It never happened. No delivery, no phone call or text to tell me he wouldn't be able to deliver. Even after I texted him about the delivery he never replied back. I wouldn't recommend this company. read more

I don't usually write reviews, and when I do they are usually positive. This isn't the case for Big Head Chuck's though. I contacted Chuck a couple of weeks back about delivering some firewood for a party that I am having. He was nice on the phone and asked that I text him my address for delivery. I texted him with the address and days/times that I would be here to accept delivery. A couple of days later, while at work, I get a call from his delivery guy saying that he was on his way to my house. I explained to him that I was not prepared to accept delivery, as he was coming on a day that I specified that I wouldn't be at home. He apologized and said that he would deliver within the next couple of days while I was I home. Those days came and went, and I never heard back from them. I always give a business a second chance, so a couple of days ago I contacted Chuck and told him that my wood had never been delivered. I explained to him that I wanted to give him another chance before going with another company. He was apologetic, explained that he wasn't the most organized person, and asked me to resend my information and what/when I wanted delivered. I did, then asked him if he could confirm that my order (as specified) would be delivered. I never heard back from him. So, I just got off of the phone with another company who will be providing my firewood this winter. I'd advise Chuck to get his act together if he wants to operate a successful business here in Charleston. My advice to potential customers: Try someplace else. read more

BEWARE! Believe the negative reviews about the lack of communication and professionalism. The owner will promise you the world but deliver only a small piece. We agreed on a price for felling 3 trees FOLLOWED BY grinding the stumps. To their credit, the crew worked hard, dropped the trees efficiently, and were courteous. Happy with that aspect. However, they were 3 hrs late, without a single call or text, and they showed up without oil in their chipper. I had to give them oil for them to do their job. What kind of business isn't prepared for their only job?! Their heavy machine also tore up my yard more than I anticipated. Then they couldn't clean up the sawdust or brush bc they said their blower didn't work. The last straw was when the stump-grinder never showed--without even a courtesy call. After a week of the owner not responding to our calls and texts, we finally hired somebody else--a person who completed the job on the same day as the quote and in only one hour. That same guy said the shoddy performance and lack of commo is pretty much Big Head Chuck's reputation in the community. Believe the negative reviews. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I got a quote and made an appointment to have two trees taken down. When no one showed up, I called Jason (quote guy) who told me that he thought that they were already on site. He called back an hour later to apologize and say that I had been rescheduled for the next day. This was inconvenient for me but I agreed. Day two rolled around and still no sign of them. When I called Jason, he was once again "surprised", and said he would call me right back. An hour went by with no call, so I texted him. He then got mad at me and told me that the crew had been to my house and moved on when I didn't answer the door. That was simply not true; I had been sitting next to the door all morning. Jason then said that he couldn't help it because he was out quoting new business. I told him that I found it unethical to go out quoting business if you know that you can't guarantee the crews will show up and he actually had the nerve to call me unethical for not having patience! His crew was a no show 30 hours past the appointment he gave me in writing and he's mad at me??? Never again! And just to be clear, the one star is because apparently that is the minimum allowed. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! Worst professional experience/ customer service of my life. Chuck gave me a estimate and told me he could cut down a tree the following week. After 4 weeks straight of being pushed back "I can definitely get your tree down next week", I was finally able to make it on his "schedule" for a 12:00 noon apt. When 1:30 rolled around and I had not heard from him, I texted him to confirm the day, no response so I called and he said they were finishing up another job and he would be there shortly. He then guaranteed me that he would get to me that day. No phone call, no text, no email. I had taken off from work to meet someone that never showed up, or let me know anything about my apt. When I wrote him an email the next day requesting a cancellation of our "contract" (which I had to basically beg him for, and then when I got it, it wasn't the agreed amount, and he refused to change the contract) he said "Sounds good find somebody to do it cheaper and give you a fair deal as I did I told you in the very beginning I was backed up nobody else will treat you honestly just get your estimates you'll see" I'd rather cut the tree down myself with a butter knife than have to deal with "Big Head Chuck" read more

After several hours after message left i received a return phone call. He advised he would call following morning to come out and look over job and give estimate. Following day, Nothing, no show, no call... nothing. Glad this was not an emergency situation. Not professional at all!!. This guy is a complete joke. If you want firewood delivered don't bother calling this guy. He called me back after I left him a message and said he would deliver firewood at 2:00 that afternoon. He never showed up. After a day I called him back to find out what the story was and he never called me back. Complete unprofessional. read more
