Fantastic people to do business with in the greater Central Virginia area…read more This is a family owned and operated business. Both the owner Tim, and his wife are consummate professionals. They communicate every step of the way. Tim must have a PHd in trees, (whatever that is called), because he can tell a person more about trees than we normal humans need for a lifetime. Smart dude. I had friended him on social media, as we had friends in common and he had just patronized the shop I work at. On a Sunday, I messaged him since I didn't have his number, when he could come by and provide some estimates. He showed up at my door within minutes. My wife and I were immediately impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. He wasn't pushy at all, and the estimate was beyond competitive and reasonable. We had to push back the day a couple of times, and they were very understanding. Susan left me a VM a week out to confirm, (nice touch). The work was great and my yard looks amazing without the unsightly stump, and 3 huge trees they removed. One which leaned toward the house, the others were struck by lightning and compromised, or diseased. I HIGHLY recommend these professional tradespeople, and great company.

We selected Truetimber because we liked the idea of arborists advising us rather than a generic tree service. I could not have asked for a better experience. James came out and walked the property with me. I told him we wanted to save as many trees as possible but were absolutely willing to take out anything that was sick or potentially dangerous. With that kind of latitude I assumed he would tell me 10 or so trees would probably need to come out. That was not the case. He said one old pin oak needed to go (we knew that, it has dropped major limbs several times.) He also pointed out four Red Tip Photinias that were dying (Again, we knew this.) Beyond this he didn't recommend any further removals but did note several trees in bad need of pruning for safety reasons. The quote came in about three days and was very reasonable. The work was scheduled for 8 weeks out. The crew showed up and was polite, professional, and thorough. They cleaned up everything and finished it all in a day. The stump of the pin oak was ground down 4 days later, ahead of schedule. The bill came in exactly at the estimate. A+++ Credit cards and debit cards accepted with a 3% fee attached.

Got an estimate in April but they didn't come out until August. I was initially quoted $8k to…read moreremove 5 trees, trim up branches on 3 other trees and to grind up and remove the 5 stumps. The mailed estimate however was $14,000.00 and some change. They took down the trees and said someone else would remove the cut down trees and grind up and remove the stumps. The stump grinder came and said that he was only going to do 4 of the 5 stumps and I could pick out which ones. I called the company and told them that this wasn't the deal so th sent out their team again. I showed them that they didn't finish the tree trimming and ivy removal on a tree in the back yard. They said they needed a lift to do it and would be back but did grind the final stump. When the team came out to finish the tree in the back, that team said they weren't going to work for free and had the office call me and tell me there was an additional $600 charge to trim one additional branch that they had forgotten. I paid the almost $15k and told the office that the French Drain in my backyard was not working after they dropped 2 trees on top of it and I was told that the owner (Steve, the 5 star review on here), would come look at the French Drain. He never came but sent out the bill for the additional $600. So my estimate of $8,000 went up to $15,000.00 and I've got to find a contractor to repair what they crushed (the French Drain) and still haven't seen anyone from C S Flournoy to even look at what was damaged and what wasn't done. I had to remove the ivy from my trees myself even though that was part of the initial estimate. The secondary tree trimmers have left huge tire tracks across my front yard bc they didn't want to backup from the street.

I also engaged them to install mulch and prep the beds as an added fee. They subcontract the irrigation services, and that company was very good, identifying where previously the system had damage that was not identified by my previous service company (extra fee for the repairs). They worked with me as well to adjust the watering setup to preserve new plantings. The GG's services were delivered like clockwork. They are very efficient and complete in all they do. When blowing debris for clean up, my wife was especially pleased that they blew leaves off of our back deck! That was a plus! Since I work from home, I was aware of their comings and goings and the work was always done well. When I had questions, the crew was very responsive to me and contacted the main office when there was some confusion about a schedule that was worked out very nicely. I see the cost of this service as very similar to and competitive with regular HOA costs for "full service" condo or townhouse subdivisions, but this is performed on my 1/4 acre lot. I find great value in this service from The Ground Guys and plan to renew my contract.
