This is the dirtiest Big Lot I have seen so far! From the floors to the shelves to the parking lot!

What's here: this is a good place for handy people who don't mind doing a little work. It's not a convenience solution. The operating organization is the Preservation and Conservation Association, and the items for (very affordable) sale are largely historical or quite vintage. When I passed through they had light fixtures, doors, what sure seemed to be a Philco BC-221-N Vintage Radio Frequency Meter, door locks with keys, school lockers, etc etc. As another reviewer noted, the doors are all labeled with measurements and organized so you don't have to fish things out unnecessarily. Staff is super friendly and helpful, I bought a project and the staff made sure I knew what I was getting in for. There is a little museum section in the back of the store with historical items on display and they have some books for in-store use on topics like making a home more elder-friendly and dealing with vintage hardware. Community health: when we went, the doors were open for cross ventilation and half the staff were masking (note, I knocked a star off bc community spread is high right now and everyone, regardless of vaccination status, should be masking indoors).

This was a neat place to visit. Lots and lots of different building supplies, but mostly doors…read more Some unique things like fireplaces or historical pieces from buildings. But mostly doors. It's all salvaged, so you don't find anything shiny and new but you'll find things that have character and are worn down - which seems to be totally in right now! This is a great place for art students looking for inspiration or random materials, theatre companies looking for set pieces, or anyone interested in doing some random building. Prices were hard to find. Not everything had a price and I didn't want to bring every piece up to the counter to check it. There's no way of knowing whether the piece you're buying is in working order or not (e.g. electrical pieces). It's a fun place to wander around in and see what they have, but didn't have anything worth my money this time around.

Know before you go: it's on 3 floors and there isn't a public elevator. I assume if someone comes in in a wheelchair they can use the freight elevator? In any case, they are about to move to the old ValuCheck store at 1914 Glenn Park Drive, so by 10/1 or so that won't be an issue soon (fingers crossed) Community safety: I knocked off stars for COVID precautions. Only one staff member was masking although everybody was distancing. The current community level of COVID for Champaign County is High and the DPH recommendation is "Wear a well-fitting mask indoors in public, regardless of vaccination status or individual risk (including in K-12 schools and other community settings)."

This was my first time visiting a Habitat for Humanity store. I still have not bought anything from these stores before, but this place was super busy on the Saturday morning. The first floor has a small section for electronics, mainly old CRT TVs and other random electronics. They have many desk, tv stands, chairs at very good prices. Depending on your luck I can see how you can make off with a very good deal. The chairs themselves were very old and I could not see myself buying a used recliner. The basement has tons of hardware material well organized. On the second floor is home goods. Lots of the merchandise on this floor is very very old. Overall if you like second hand goods this would be your store. FYI there is no clothes at this store. Pros: cheap second hand furniture if you are on a budget Cons: very old merchandise Hidden deals: The whole store is a hidden deal, just look around
