Big Lots ain't pretty and from a merchandising perspective makes K-Mart look like Nordstrom but this bare bones box appears to have only one aspiration - to be the threadbare choreographers of a very random, hit or miss product rotation. While I'd probably sleep with one eye open on their rows of unbranded $15 king sheet sets, I'll have no problem falling asleep to the first three seasons of Dexter on Blu Ray for $4 each. If you can't nod off, try counting serial killers. Look, this harsh fluorescent hovel is organized chaos incarnate. Today you might come home with a pizza stone and a purple lava lamp, tomorrow a pleather couch for the basement. I went to Big Lots today because I got a save $5 coupon for donating $1 the last time I was there. The cashier was friendly. There was a problem with the scanner taking my big lots card so she scanned it three times, I don't like to say my phone number for privacy purposes. When I was accepting the charge she volunteered to bag my groceries. It was a nice experience overall. I'd like to request getting black or dark blue plastic table clothes with fabric lining that will fit a six foot table. read more

My first visit to this discount store, and although I was unable to score the item I was looking for, I might be inclined to visit again. Even though I didn't buy anything, I did notice some cool gifty items for kids and others whose tastes are not too discriminating. And for simple household items I might return. Anyone looking for a gift for the hot sauce lover in your life should check out the several cool( or should I say hot) sets. This review is for Big Lots in general. All their stores basically carry the same items. With a smorgasbord of delightful products to chose from. I can guarantee you'll find plenty of necessities of interest. Some of the items that have been discontinued and are sold off to Big Lots at a discount that is passed on to their consumers. I recently fell in love with the cheese stuffed olives produced by Loreto that currently go for $1.79 a can. They normally cost 3 times as much elsewhere. You can score on a variety of soups, soft drinks, cookies, sauces and spices. I just purchased a spice called Hemp and I haven't decided on how to use it yet. I also buy dog treats for my Brother's mutt at a nice discount. Be careful though, some of this stuff is cheaper in regular supermarkets. Pick any location and Judge for your own bad self. read more

This location is what you would call a "throw back." In general Big Lots is one of my favorite places to shop (don't judge), but this location needs a facelift. I didn't even recognize the store and thought this might have been a "knock-off" of some sort, but after entering the store I realized it wasn't, they just need to update the marquee outside because it does not look like the current logo. Also, the selection was underwhelming so suffice to say this was my first and likely last visit. read more

I don't know what this says about me, but I sort of like Big Lots. Well, I like a couple of things about it, anyway: 1) Blank CDs and DVDs are freakin' CHEAP at Big Lots. Seriously. A spindle of 30 blank CDs (HP brand, usually) costs around $3.99. Nice! And a 6-pack of blank DVDs costs $3.49! Even better! Big Lots is the only place I go for this kind of stuff! 2) I bought a crock pot at Big Lots for under $10.00 and it hasn't burned down my house! Awesome! Ok. I know my two reasons for liking this store aren't the most convincing, but if you need something for the house and you don't want to spend a lot of cash, give Big Lots a try... ...Oh! I just thought of another reason why I sort of like Big Lots! The wrapping paper. They offer ultra-cheap, but nice-looking, wrapping paper around the holiday season. So there. read more

Went there today and bought a Pergola and queen mattress. Asked cashier to please sublet check if they were in stock even though the sign said in stock before we purchased these items. Sure enough we were told both were in stock. We purchased both and were told they would be brought right up. We ended up waiting an hour and nothing was brought up. After seeing people after us that had purchased furniture have there stuff brought out. Tried to find out what was going on and nobody knew. The cashier went to check on this and comes back 5 minutes later to tell me that the mattress I purchased was out of stock! Wtf! Over and hour wait ... Double checked with them before purchasing and then this? Come on. The manager that just came in during this apologized but it's was not in him. This should be all on the manager leading up to that. Big Lots is for people who haven't figured out where Walmart is. Or maybe they drive such a decrepit car that they don't want to risk the longer trip out to WM. Everything Big Lots sells is junk, the prices aren't really that low, and if you decide to buy something you will be stuck in line behind someone buying out the entire store. read more
