However, this is not the case with Vermont Originals. Last month, a friend I know purchased two winter hats from this company. This is their main bread and butter, and they have been doing it very well since 1971. Vermont Originals, produces custom and off the shelf wool hats that are fleece lined for extra warmth. They are very popular with skiers, and ski teams across Canada and the United States. Moreover, their products are all made in Vermont, using local labor to produce these high quality hats. The two hats my friend ordered are fully fleece lined for extra warmth. She is an avid downhill skier and snowmobiler. This means she often spends many hours outdoors in subfreezing weather, and needs the extra warmth that only a high quality cold weather hat can provide. Vermont Originals makes their hats using only the best quality 100% wool yarn that money can buy. This means they will last for many years, if not decades, before they will need replacement. Sadly, we live in a disposable society today. We go out and buy clothing items that last only a year or two, and throw them into the trash can. It is so nice to find a hat manufacturer that still believes in making hand-made products that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend Vermont Originals to anyone looking for a great winter hat. Moreover, in this deep economic recession we are in, employing local labor in Vermont, helps keep the local and national economies afloat in the long-run.

Some products are great while others are garbage. I bought a…read moreturtle fur neck warmer from a ski shop in December 2017, it was great but then I lost it, bought another one at the same ski shop in December 2018. I then noticed after purchase that Turtle Fur American company but the product is made in China, seems lame for such a simple design as a neck warmer. After a few days of wearing the new neck warmer, fluff started to ball up and stick to my beard, sweater, jacket and everywhere else and continues to get worse. I've tried washing to specifics only to find no change in the amount of shedding. I called Turtle Fur and they offered no help. This product is cheap Chinese garbage, may be just these blues one? The one I'm speaking of is made of polyester.

This is relevant, just give me a minute. I spent half my adult life caring for my sister and her…read morechildren because my sister was ill. It wasn't until late in life that I was able to think about my own dreams, one of which was to own a horse. Unfortunately I was way behind in knowledge and skills and aging by the second. I looked around for help and I found Lynn. I told her I was looking for a horse training mentor and she said she could be that person for me, and so I went to meet her. When I was in her shop, she sold me a $900 saddle and encouraged me to take it home. She said she could tell from photos if it was a good fit. When she saw the photos she said it didn't fit but that it could be corrected with saddle pads, so I bought the saddle. Then I had two diffetrainers drop by my farm at different times. Each took one look at the saddle and said it was too narrow at the shoulders and could never fit my horse, that if I did what Lynn said, my horse would be in pain. One said I would have trouble selling the saddle because of its narrow gullet and that Lynn must have known that and that's why she won't take it back. If course, Lynn has a no returns policy and doesn't care that I was seeking a mentor, not a saddle. Buyer beware. P.S. She has since moved her business to Danville, same name.

This store has a beautiful array of jewelry and I enjoyed browsing. The owner and his wife were…read morevery cordial and helpful when I bought a necklace. That changed quickly when I decided to return the item. My main complaint about Ferro Jewelers is that they misrepresented the content of the necklace that I purchased. I was told that it was 18k gold but discovered later that it was gold plated over sterling; there's a big difference. The owner, Brian Ferro, was very reluctant to refund my money, stating that most of the necklace was solid gold except for the plated clasp. If I hadn't brought a friend/experienced jeweler along with me to refute what he was saying, I don't think I would have gotten my money back. He finally refunded my money but was quite irritated about it. I would venture to say that when most people attempt to return something, he is able to confuse them with his "jeweler talk." Fortunately I had my own jeweler with me who knew the truth. I got out of the store as quickly as I could. Buyer Beware!

Also, there were some discrepancies between the quality of the item and what I later learned. Prior due diligence is important before purchasing something at this store. Finally, all the warning signs about their display cases are phony. I accidentally touched the surface of one and nothing happened. Reading the manager's response to their negative reviews makes it obvious he spends more time refuting the reviews and shaming the reviewer rather apologizing for his behaviour.
