You ask her a question and she huffs and puffs like it's too much trouble to answer. The prices are really high compared to buying a new items on sale at high-end stores. A lot of of the items need to be thrown away. Lots of the clothes are stained or have rips in them or they kind of smell, but they don't seem to care and they don't seem to want to be bothered about it. You definitely have to check out things in boxes. I looked at a couple games and it was missing 98% of the items but their attitudes really just suck about it.

Every time I enter, providing they are not busy, I always get a welcoming greeting. They even think about the veterans of the armed forces. Each checkout, as of recently, has a card that customers can sign thanking the veterans for their service, which is an opportunity I never pass up. Furthermore, they are more than happy to provide cardboard boxes for a project I recently wanted to get done. All in all, this is one business that deserves the five star treatment and that is exactly what I am proud to give them... because it is a small token on the ten star treatment they give me every time I set foot in their store.

So today, I followed her instructions , drove back with the Husqvarna pressure washer and a group of employees hovered around, discussing time off and when they would be leaving and told me that their computers cannot hold data/purchase information more than a few months and that Ollie's does not carry this brand. In other words, they do not have a protocol that they teach their representatives, their computers can only spit out advertisements and they consider customers liars. I hope not to go back to the Roanoke Ollie's. Lynchburg's associates are able to interact professionally and know their own policies.

After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I was also awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Too Many Books, a beloved independent used bookstore located in the heart of Roanoke's Historic Grandin Village, is a perfect example. Owned and managed by Linda Stedman for many years, this cozy, two-story bookshop features a massive inventory of approximately 50,000 used books, which include fiction and non-fiction. There one can easily find vintage paperbacks as well as hardcover books in categories such as children's literature, history, science fiction, art, and philosophy; with extensive sections dedicated to Virginia, Civil War history, and genealogy. I was very impressed with the selection of books which included: antiquarian books, leatherbound books, out-of-print titles, limited editions, first editions, signed books by the author, and other collectible ephemera. It was a pleasure meeting the owner who came across as a very warm and deeply knowledgeable bookseller, as well as her other friendly staff in this bookstore with a very inviting atmosphere and fair prices. As a matter of fact it was holding one of those sales today where hardcover books were 20% off until the end of the month. I particularly liked a book by former Predident Barack Obama's Chief Official White House Photographer, Pete Souza, titled: "Obama: An Intimate Portrait." The author also served as an official photographer for President Ronald Reagan. The used book in almost new condition was selling for $50, so with the discount one could buy it for $40. One can check their official Too Many Books Instagram for events and most current inventory of books. I highly recommend this used bookstore, for its inviting ambiance, fair prices, and deeply knowledgeable and hospitable owner and staff.

Located in Center In The Square, in the heart of Downtown Roanoke, it's a Market featuring natural grocery staples and organic-focused produce, along with prepared foods and grab-and-go options. It also accepts SNAP/EBT for its prepared foods. Besides this Roanoke Downtown location, it has another much larger community-owned grocery store in Grandin Village. This co-op has over 6,200 owners. They welcome everyone in the community as well as visiting tourists to shop there. And if you wish you too can become an owner by filling out an application and by making a one-time purchase of 8 ownership shares at $200 or paying for your shares one at a time in 8 installments of $25 each within an 8 year period. Owners receive benefits such as Owner Rewards, Patronage Rebates, Vote in their annual Board of Directors elections, eligibility to run for an open seat on the Board of Directors, and an invitation to the Annual Co-op Meeting. Today, I visited their Downtown Roanoke location. The employee on duty allowed me to explore the grocery store and take photographs to accompany my review. The store was very clean and organized, and although it was a bit late, early in the morning its suppliers bring in fresh merchandise, and make sure to fill up all its shelves spaces. In the past, I had purchased many items from this store. In the Summer, I would sometimes get a grab-and-go salad and either go sit at one of the tables that they put out in the Center In The Square or to the ones in the Market Building, and eat it with the salad dressing that it includes inside. Their hot Soup of the day is also very tasty and popular, and I've enjoyed a bowl many times. A while ago they experimented by selling Roanoke t-shirts and due to popular demand they now carry a nice variety of them for both locals and tourists who like taking one home with them as a souvenirof the Star City of Roanoke.
