The only improvement the store has had in the last year is cleanliness. Everything else has seemed to go down hill, especially customer service. This evening I was in a line of 2 people. The customer in front of me was giving the cashier issues over a return/purchase. The cashier needed managers assistance to complete the transaction. In this time period line of 5 people formed behind me. Once the manager had finished helping the cashier with the transaction, she left the registers to continue sweeping floors. Leaving us all waiting in line. At this point it had been 10+ minutes. I ended up just leaving my stuff in line at the register and going to a local grocery store instead (and it ended up being cheaper). This used to be a regular stop biweekly after payday, but the last few visits have been less than enjoyable, and this is not the first time that the line wait was so ridiculous that I just abandoned my stuff/cart and left and went somewhere else. read more

I have, in recent months, made a number of large and regular purchases from this and the Tulare stores. My most recent experience in the Visalia store was a large purchase of on-sale patio furnishings. The staff was helpful and attentive to what I wanted. They had the items organized and ready for me to pick up at the time I asked, so that I had the items picked up, delivered and rental truck returned all within a couple hours. Very efficient. As for the products themselves: I did extensive product research before I made my decision as to which pieces I would purchase. I have not yet assembled all the items but was told by the assistant manager that if any parts [for assembly] were missing to let them know and they would get what was needed. If necessary, I will take him on his word. No, what Big Lots carries is not top-of-the-line merchandise. They are not a Macy's or high-end department store; that is not their niche nor do they advertise as such. Yes, they do carry name brand items but I have always been told by staff that if any item is available when one finds it, it may not be the next time one visits - so get it while it's available. They do restock every day essentials for which one can get great deals. Good examples of this are canned goods, paper products and small electronic accessories. Otherwise, their seasonal items come and go such as any other non-specialty store. I do recommend this (and the Tulare) store for economical essential shopping. I decide to lease furniture through big lots an it was the easiest, most affordable leasing I've ever done! The lady working the furniture department was friendly, honest and a very hard worker! My husband and I walked around and wrote a list of what we wanted. She then gathered all of our furniture for us, checked us out and loaded all our furniture into our SUV. We had to come back the next day with a Uhaul for the larger items but the associate held our merchandise in the back for us overnight and loaded it into the uhaul for us the next day! I have never bought anything from your store. I have a newborn baby and am in need of a rocking chair. Someone told me you had a sale on a rocking recliner. The Home Solutions choco rocking recliner. I went online and paid for it in visalia and when I got to the store they had sold it. I went to buy it at another store because it said it was there online in dinuba and it was not. I called the Clovis store and they said they put it on hold for me with my name on it and that I had four days to pick it up. They would honor the online new customer price i got it for. That was the day before yesterday. It's been 2 days and I went to pick it up today, I told them I would be there Saturday, and guess what? They sold it. 40 minute drive and they sold the chair they had to put my name on and put in the back so I could buy it today. Your company sucks and your employees are trash. I was even going to ship it to my house and pay the ridiculously expensive fee and they don't ship to my house. read more

Not sure what happen to my review but it's still a zero star. Shopped here for the last time. Christmas lights don't work from here. Change out the bad light bulbs and everyone has wires that are too short so no electric to the light. Bought three and each has 20 feet that don't light up. I don't have enough bulbs to replace over 60 led lights. read more

Will NEVER purchase furniture here again! Was told the mattress was a Serta, tag reads Serta. But they fail to tell you it's at the VERY LOW end of production that's why it's made only for Big Lots. Tried it for 3 weeks... worse back ache every! Called the store to return, said they couldn't even tell me if it was a Medium, firm or soft Serta... they aren't marked, no info! may have a defect inside! after we took it apart, we examined the bed and box spring was crooked! What the heck! Can imagine what the mattress has wrong or was eliminated inside! Returned it and then manager said they were unable to refund me the CASH I paid them.. THEY DON'T have enough cash!!! I gave them cash!! tried to talk me into another purchase! NO WAY! not with this service!! Got a debit credit but that's not cash in hand, have to wait 24 hours for it to show in your account. Terrible,, not even an apology for terrible workmanship... Not worth saving a few hundred when it's just JUNK!!! read more

Really messy. They used to have some decent diy furniture if you needed something quick and cheap but even that's gone away. Now it's mainly chairs in that dept. Feels grungy. read more
