I go in there looking for an Excel book I found online but they didn't have it in stock. Found…read moresomething else I wanted and go to the front counter. She checks me out and asks me to pick 3 magazines. I'm like ok whatever, she said I got two issues free, I said ok fine. I pay for what I purchased and she hands me a slip to sign. I'm like I used my debit card why do I need to sign? so I read the slip. They are sending my debit card info to the company that will be sending the magazines and it was an authorization to charge my card for the magazines. I said Um no I'm not signing that and I slid the paper back to her. She looked at me and Goes Ma'am you're gonna have to sign it. I looked at her and said Sweetheart I don't have to do a damn thing but pay taxes and die. The little front end dude comes over there and is like what's going on? she tells him and he goes well all you have to do is call and cancel before the two months is up and I said No, I don't want to do that. I will never remember to do that and it's inconvenient, when that was not explained to me from the very beginning. he goes well we can go ahead and call right now and cancel. I said Fine, go ahead and picked up my bag and walked out. So be careful if you plan to go to Books A Million anytime soon, the scams are out there. I won't be returning anytime soon, if ever.

Store sells Jewelry, purses, clothes and all kinds of girly knick knacks. The displays are top notch and well thought out. My daughter is a bit to young to get the appeal of the store and that was a-okay with me. I asked my wife if she'd ever been and she had rave reviews. My guess is that it's for the 25 and older crowd, but I'm no fashionista. The staff was great and genuinely wanted to help. Didn't observe any staff not working or doing something and that's huge for me. Chandelier was cool touch to center of store.

The Dollar Tree is great. I've been able to build my book library back up, after losing so many in the flood, last year. The West Monroe's location has been very lacking in books, lately. I hope that doesn't mean that they're no longer going to stop stocking books. That's the main reason I go, other than toothpaste, aluminum foil, and assorted other things that would normally cost me at least twice as much anywhere else. Don't buy thumb tacks from them, though. For some reason, they snap in half if you hang anything from them. Maybe I just bought a bad package. But everything I hung from them, no matter how light, caused them to break within a week. Also, I bought some pillow cases from there once. They fell apart after one wash and the dye in the pillow cases leaked out into the washing machine, turning the clothes I was washing with them a nice red color. They could definitely use some more cashiers, and friendly ones, at that. Every time I go in, there's a line about nine people deep. The woman at the register always looks like she's ready to go postal. And when makes she makes an announcement that she needs another cashier to help check, the disdain in her voice could cut through a diamond. I guess it's a situation of "you get what you pay for". After all, everything IS $1.00 or less. Still, if they wouldn't wait until the line is unreasonably long to call another cashier up front to check, this would have been a five star review.

But since I do, I tried to go in to get one thing from the store 10 minutes before they closed. They had the door locked and the lady who was standing outside smoking was turning everyone away. There was one man begging to go in to get something, and she finally agreed to let him in, but was being rude to him about it. He ended up just leaving. Considering they still have 10 minutes before they closed, I thought her attitude was a little uncalled for.

It has in my opinion, Urban Outfitters style clothing, in other words vintage style but brand new. Only problem is prices are really high, which is expected with such nice clothes. Thankfully, they have a decent sale rack in the back with some nice stuff. They also have fancy shoes (wish they had prices though) and jewelry.
