I love little places like this. How could you not? Big Mike's is a little shack with a pick up window (cash only) and a small inside dining room. The inside is homey, with a lot of little things hung around to look at. The single waitress running the lunch hour was delightful. She worked quickly and never skipped a beat. You could tell the other patrons here were regulars, since I didn't even hear them place an order, but their lunch was set down in front of them. The special board had great deals. The baskets came with fries and slaw, for $7.99. Great deal. This place is known for their hotdogs and burgers, but I wasn't in the mood for that, next time! I opted for the chicken wing wrap with no sides. It was SO fresh. It was filled with crispy chicken bites coated in a really good buffalo sauce, lettuce, tomato and blue cheese. I really enjoyed it. The wrap itself was super good and soft and fresh as well. The meal was quick, cheap and homey. I'll certainly be back next time I forget lunch at work. read more

The place is cool inside, no frills kind of place, bottles of water probably from Walmart and cans of soda, it is what it is for that, ordered a patty melt medium, was very well done, by that point in the day and waited a little too long already, decided to eat the burger, not really sure how it was cooked.( Steamed, maybe?) But definitely not on a flat top or char broiled, we ate but not sure if we will ever go back. Point to be made, it was NOT crowded, a table of 3 in the backroom and then the 2 of us, so for the time we waited was kind of strange. Food should have been better. Good milkshake. read more

Big Mike's originally started out as just a take out window on a travel trailer and has expanded to a true structure AND has a sit down restaurant as well. I moved upstate from an area downstate (for a few years) known for a culinary school and boasting the most delicious food anywhere, yet the food was just as terrible as the prices. I've loved every single thing I've tried at Big Mike's EXCEPT the strip steak (it was tough even at medium rare and not a NY strip -- so I removed only one star for that and mashed potato servings being so small). I HIGHLY recommend the hot roast beef sandwich, fries with gravy (or cheese sauce or cheese sauce with hot dog sauce), mashed potatoes (although a bigger portion is definitely needed), the haddock, and did I mention the roast beef gravy (seriously the best I've had and my husband loves it as well)? Of course, in upstate NY, a hot dog with the works is the true test and with Tegeo's no longer running, Big Mike's definitely has the best one around, in my opinion. I am a regular just for this one item alone (and I don't even like hot dogs -- it's a vehicle for that terrific hot dog sauce). So, for the same price as a crappy McDonald's meal, you can have a homemade and down home delicious meal. No competition, in my opinion, and I'm grateful that while we're waiting to get in our new home, we have a great place nearby for quick, delicious meals! read more

Stopped in for some hotdogs for the kids and myself. I didn't get called that my order was up, and I saw two people that came after me go up and get their food. So I went up to ask, and she claimed she called me five minutes ago. The food was cold and I told her I was waiting right there and no one called that my food was ready. She was sarcastic and mean. I asked for the boss(Mike),. and his excuse was that the waitresses don't care about customers or the diner. Then he told her as I was leaving to go outside and fight me. While it is a small place the food is terrific and the atmosphere created by the owner makes you feel like you've eaten here all your life. It was ok. Had a chili dog, a slaw dog, and two mushroom burgers between myself and my wife. They were anything to write home about. Not great, but not terrible, either. Absolute worst service I've ever had. I called to place my order and the girl knew nothing of what she was talking about and THEN I went to pay for my two cheese dogs,fish basket, boneless wings basket and mozz sticks and got told $67 dollars .... Excuse me ... NO ring that up again after she handed me the food she says put it back in the window I have to go get my manager Now the owner comes out obviously sees her mistake and gives me back $15 okay thanks but I'm still over charged $15.00 AND I get home and my food was cold. the girl in the front had NO personable skills whats so ever and was the rudest person I have ever met. Let me start by saying that the food was good. The chef salad that I ordered was fresh and plentiful. My husband ordered 2 hot dogs loaded with toppings. He liked them so much that he wanted to order more. The only reason he didn't is because the waitress didn't check on us once after she delivered the food. Not once. Sure, we could have tried to flag her down, but why should we have to? When she DID come to the table to take our orders and deliver our drinks and food she hardly spoke. She was bordering on being surly. There were only 2 other parties of 2 when we were there so it's not like we were busy. My only suggestion is to order your food to go. If I want to get a hot dog for lunch Big Mile's is the only place that i will go. I have been eating their food for years now and I love their stuff. I usually get 1 hot dog with meat sauce and a cup of soup. My husband usually gets 2 hot dogs with meat sauce and a order of gravy fries and it is all yummy. You can get enough for 2 people for under $10-$12 dollars. They also serve pizza, ice cream, fried fish, hamburgers, chicken, and much more. read more

Although I have ate here plenty of times I always stop in for hot dogs this time I had a cheeseburger . Not only was it huge it was delicious . Big Mikes is a strong comparison to a Coney Island hot dog or a Jimmy's from Hazleton PA. The Mac & cheese is hit and miss..don't get me wrong it's always good but better at times. First time I got it, it had nicely broiled cheese on the top...so amazingly good. Second time it did not. Would love it to be consistently like the first experience. The rice pudding is delicious, they say it's homemade and I rarely eat anyone's rice pudding but my Mom's. However- this is a close second, please don't tell my Mom I said that. I stopped in today for a hot dog with "The Works" (mustard, onions, meat sauce). The hot dog, served on a warm roll, was very good. What irked me was the preparation. The cashier took my order, my money, and then wiped part of her fingers on what appeared to be a wiping rag for the prep area. Without using gloves, she began to prepare my hot dog. I really couldn't believe what I was seeing. How hard would it have been to grab the roll with a pair of tongs? The only way I was able to review the food was because I took my bites from each end (where she did not touch) and threw the rest out. The baked haddock was served to me with slime all over it. I pointed it out to the waitress who called over the Owner and he said, "There's nothing wrong with it, you're paying for it!" . I should have taken it to the Dept.Of Health for testing, but he wisked it away to the kitchen and didn't even offer a substitute, it was gross! I had to pay for it but will NEVER go back.
