We had never used an "official" house or pet sitter before and when some pretty last minute…read moreThanksgiving week plans started to come to fruition, my first instinct was to call our vet where we typically board our dogs but of course they were booked up (months in advance). I frantically started looking into some other options but as luck would have it, I remembered that my favorite masseuse, Wendy Goldstein, also did house and animal care. I called Wendy immediately and told her the dates we needed, what we needed and serendipitously, she was available for the entire time frame. Wendy made arrangements to come to the house a week before our departure with a contract that laid out everything needed to make our time away as stress free and helpful. We showed her around the house/how things worked (her contract even asked for info on where the water/gas shut off is located, etc.) and introduced her to the dogs. As many of you who have read my reviews in the past know, we have 2 dogs(both rescues) and one of which who has been a tri-pawed for almost 2 years now. Beckett who just turned 9 and who Kevin has had for the past 8 years has always had back and neck issues, but with the running around with only 1 back leg he has started to develop some sciatica issues and had been on an anti-inflammatory and a pain medicine. When we told Wendy about Beckett's back, she felt his spine and said, "she would work on him while we were gone as a spine is a spine". I know Wendy has been instrumental when I have had sciatic flare ups, so I told her to work her magic. We were gone for almost an entire week. I spoke to Wendy only twice during our time away. She let us know Beckett was again jumping on the couch on his own, that she hadn't had to give him any pain medicine and that all in all he seemed to be walking and doing better (I had a feeling she would be magical for him). Holly our 4 1/2 year old(we have had her for 2 1/2 years now) is a little more difficult with new people and Wendy did report it took her a couple of days of us being gone until she was willing to sleep in the bed (she chose to sleep in a dog bed in Kevin's office) instead until she was comfortable. Our mail was taken in, the plants were watered, the sheets and towels were laundered and the bed was remade with the fresh sheets upon our return. The house was as clean as we left it-the dogs were not traumatized like they often are after boarding and neither picked up any new bad habits (like a deeper bark or barking incessantly which happened during their last time boarding the beginning of November). Let me just say that aside from the cost savings of having a dog/house sitter vs. boarding 2 dogs is enormous. To add to this our vet charges an extra $4-5 per day if a medication needs to be administered to a pet while boarding (even if they prescribed it), AND the vet charges a "premium" during peek holiday times. On top of all of this, having what is now considered a Senior Dog who has some physical limitations and a house that needs more tending to than our last house, having someone like Wendy in our lives makes it virtually a no-brainer if/when we have more trips when we can't take the dogs with us. Her prices are more than reasonable, her care of our home and animals was(is) immeasurable. She is also the best masseuse I have ever been to if you are not in the market for a house/animal sitter. I cannot say enough about Dan and his skills as a dog (and dog parent) trainer! I adopted my dog,…read moreDoug, from a golden retriever rescue in March 2026, believing he was a golden retriever mix. From the very beginning, Dan gently pointed out that Doug might have more cattle dog in him, based on his markings and behavior. When the DNA test confirmed Dan was right, it gave me a whole new understanding of my sweet boy. Doug turned out to be a beautiful mix of cattle dog and other herding breeds, and that insight has made such a difference in helping me understand him better. Dan has been incredibly patient--not only with Doug, but with me too--as I've learned to recognize Doug's triggers, better understand his behavior, and figure out how to help him thrive. Dan's experience with stray and rescue dogs is extremely valuable. Doug is such a sweet dog, about 2 years old, with plenty of puppy energy still in him. He's affectionate, eager for attention, and wonderfully responsive to training. Dan has helped me learn how to channel Doug's energy in positive ways and appreciate just how smart and spirited he really is. Doug keeps me on my toes, and Dan has reminded me that patience and consistency are some of the greatest gifts I can give him. After just three in-home sessions with Dan, I've already seen such encouraging progress. Doug is doing beautifully--he's a star at the dog park, walks nicely on leash, and has learned to respect the boundaries I've set around attention and behavior. Things like digging up the backyard and jumping into my face have stopped, which has been such a relief. Dan's guidance has made a meaningful difference, and staying consistent with the lessons has been key to Doug's success. Dan's availability by phone or text is a game-changer as I don't have to wait until our next scheduled visit to get guidance if new, unexpected and undesirable behavior arises between visits. Next week marks Doug's and my three-month anniversary together, which feels both exciting and emotional. We still have more to learn, but I'm so proud of how far we've come already. I'm grateful for Dan's support and look forward to continuing this journey--helping Doug grow into the very best boy I know he can be.

There are not enough great words to describe Dan and his success. Our Boston Terrier, Wally, was…read morethe ultimate wild child when we got him from rescue. He was impossible to take a walk, we could not answer our front door, he terrorized the cats. The best thing about Dan is his method and approach. No prong collars, no harsh methods, no bark collars. He teaches you to "speak dog". He explained how dogs communicate with each other. He helped us understand Wally has anxiety from basically not having boundaries. His tools of choice are your "bark", a squirt bottle and baggie full of water. All gentle but so effective. We have had 3 sessions. The first was some basic commands and behavior corrections. They worked! I could answer my front door without him running out or just going crazy. The 2nd session we got potty training help. Wally had been doing well until our older dog got sick and had accidents. After that he only went in our house. We started using Dan's suggestions. The 3rd session was like magic and the skies opened giving us a new dog. We took Wally on a walk with Dan and he was a different dog. No lunging, no climbing up the leash or going berserk when he sees other dogs. Now he is a pleasure to walk-he heals, he minds us. Potty training is amazing. He has not gone in the house since the last session. Today I was in the yard with our cats. They have a fenced area. Normally Wally would be uncontrollable and trying to get to the cats. Today he just stood there when I corrected him. I cannot recommend Dan and Bark Busters enough. Gentle corrections, simple methods and immediate results. If you do what he says you get an amazing dog.
