This shop seems more expansive than the other Corners stores that I have visited. At the time that I visited, they were offering a free mat when you purchased a frame. This may be a perennial offer, and a very nice one at that. The two gentlemen working the desk greeted me and let me know they'd be with me in a moment, since they were working with other customers. See what a little acknowledgement can do? They were both wearing nicely framed glasses, just to further the pun here, and to give you an idea of how much I notice good framework. I had one oddly-sized poster to frame, and Mr. Vin helped me to assess my options in terms of frame materials, glass or plexi, etc. without being pushy. I had brought in a coupon which was expired (fully to my knowledge, just so you know that I'm not one to demand acceptance of coupons that have been expired since Prince was the Artist Formerly Known As). Mr. Vin totally accepted it! The man saved me 200 smackers! I will be eager to report to you all just how nicely my framed poster turned out, $200 short of what I would have regularly paid sans expired coupon.

An older female-presenting employee with long dark curly hair yelled at me and my young son when we tried to ask where the dry-erase markers were, while she chased after other customers who had already said they didn't need help. I said, "That was odd... but," and tried to ask my question, but she immediately cut me off and began raising her voice defensively. The escalation and her incendiary reaction was shocking in a customer service setting. I had to walk away, and another employee quickly helped us find what we needed. When I went to check out, she ended up on the register. I forfeited my loyalty points and asked my partner to handle the transaction because she'd made me uncomfortable. I told him what had transpired on the way home and he said she was curt and dismissive with him, too. This has always been a reliable neighborhood art store, but that kind of behavior makes it harder to come back. Nobody wants to deal with the loose cannon in the office aisle!

Pickup was quick and the lens was fantastic. Everyone there was knowledgeable and friendly and the visit alone made me crave getting back into photography again. Their developing work is as good as ever, but the quality of their scans has been significantly…read morereduced. I first noticed with my last batch that the 135 scans they did, supposedly at "full resolution" were noticeably pixelated, with jagged edges visible at 100%. I was surprised, since this problem was not present the scans this same lab had done for me in years past. I called and they agreed to re-scan them on a different machine, which ended up producing scans of about 1/4 the resolution of the original job. I finally talked to the manager of the lab who admitted that they deliberately reduced the quality of the scanner's outputs, so even though they bought a machine that can do impressive 30MP files, they no longer collect that much data off the film. They refunded me, but refused to change the settings on their machine. So even though you're still paying the full cost for "high res" scans, you're getting significantly less quality now. This isn't just lazy, it's bad business practice. Their lab work is fine, but if you're looking for quality scans, look elsewhere. Their results are garbage, and they don't even care.

Nothing we are picking out seems to look right with this painting." We finally gave up and were ready to walk out, confused by the whole experience. Then she finally said: "Well, I wouldn't put a mat or glass on a painting." She stood there that whole time watching us flounder and ask for her advice yet didn't say a word until we gave up. I couldn't believe she stood there the whole time unwilling to share her expertise with us. She was going to write our order up regardless. Did she just not care or worse, was she somehow enjoying our ignorance? We left and found another framer in Bedford who was willing and able to advise us. But we always had to call them to ask -- no one ever reached out to us to say "there's a delay, here's why." What's more, they charged more for fixed shelves instead of moveable ones and when it finally arrived, it's got a wobble. I went on the mistaken assumption that this was the sister store to Boston Wood in Watertown. I will be going to Boston Wood instead of this place in the future.

We were greeted by a friendly sales person who did not hover as we looked around and then helped us very patiently pick out fabric for the Stickley settee we picked out. We ended up purchasing a beautiful dresser, settee, and morris chair that were delivered with care. We have enjoyed these pieces plus a mission bed and end table added later now for a decade all still looking beautiful and timeless. All the Stickley furniture we have purchased has held up very well even through several house moves and I highly recommend their gorgeous well made pieces.
