    A lovely assortment of vases
    Courtney C.

Hello. My serotonin levels have been greatly increased today and it was because of this store, and the lovely service Marcus provided. I stumbled into this store today not knowing what I wanted, could handle (I'm a plant noob, ok?), and what was in my budget. I knew as soon as I walked in that I would be in trouble, because quite frankly I wanted the whole store. Yep. The whole store! Everything is so healthy, unique, and VERY reasonably priced. Marcus gave me a tour of the spot, told me all about every plant and what he would/wouldn't recommend based on my windows, lifestyle, and all that (basically, what will I probably not kill!) The service was very much appreciated and I bought a variety of beautiful plants that I have already received compliments on! They have a wonderful online presence if you aren't comfortable shopping indoors, but Marcus and I both had masks on, so it was a comfortable experience for me! I absolutely will return and will maybe take my partners car next time so I can buy even more! Please check this lovely space out, you won't regret it.

Over the years they've expanded their selection to include more trees and shrubs. One of the things that I love is that they load bagged compost, mulch , potting soil directly to your car. It's an enormous help to me and I'm sure to many others.

I decided to come to this place to support private shop owners and not the big chain shops. I avoided going to Lowe's and Home Depot but...This time I came to this place there were 2 guys behind counters that weren't at all helpful. I walked in said hello and neither one responded. When I asked one a question he said to ask the other guy cuz he was helping someone else and he walked away. I could barely understand him. When I looked for the other employee there was no one there. There was only one other customer so I don't understand how busy they could have been. Another reason for being so disappointed with this place is that some of the plants inside appeared a bit neglected. They're droopy, yellow leaves and just sad. I think a nursery should have every and single plant look like they're well taken care of and happy. Most plants inside didn't look like that. It's pretty sad. I put the planter I was going to buy down and left feeling like clearly they didn't need my business. I don't see myself returning to this place.

They do have a good sized field house here, with programming for a variety of age ranges, so it's worth checking out the CPD activities schedule. There's lots of green space, but also baseball fields, tennis courts, and a nice sized playground. The playground, too, serves a nice range of ages. But what I liked most about this park was the greenhouse and outdoor natural play area. There are places for kids to sit for various activities that take place here, an outdoor kitchen, and a large greenhouse. It's called a "teaching greenhouse", and is unique amongst Chicago parks (at least as of 2026). There's a program called garden buddies aimed at toddlers and I wish I lived closer to be able to have my child participate in it! There's also a plant sale each year. If all that weren't enough, an orchard--the first in a major metropolitan city in the US!--was planted in 2008. Apples, pears, and more--including the paw paw, an unusual, native Illinois fruit--grow on these trees. Currants, berries, and more have also been planted here. I'm excited to keep an eye on their events.

Next to it they have this beautiful park for the kids to play in the playground. Also they have tennis courts and you can improvise and play pickleball as well. Definitely a great value of time to keep this garden beautiful.

It definitely feels extensive and organized with sections for soil, different climates/plant needs, and grade of plant. The indoor plants I've bought here are mostly doing great if a little neglected from my own care. We ended up planting some of the outdoor plants too early, but the quality was great overall. Given the late last frost date here, I would just wait to buy outdoor plants in the spring. The parking lot is extensive, and they have several community events as well as opportunities to host birthday parties for any age. Staff were really helpful and efficient at the register.

The…read moreshopping center it's in is really kind of run down and empty, so I wouldn't have known what to expect. But I needed some fertilizer and soil so I stopped in. They have tons of plants and lots of plant supplies. I think we only looked at like half of the store, to be honest. It's a huge place, and I think that's one of the reasons I didn't love it. I like small neighborhood plant shops, and this was just super large. They have a lot going on here... in addition to the plants/supplies, there's a large bird cage in the store. I guess you can go into the cage? I had zero interest in that, but if you want to it's $15. I was sad that we didn't happen upon the turtle, though, because I know my daughter would have been thrilled if we'd bumped into him. They have a go fund me or kickstarter or something because I guess their lease is not renewed (wonder what that means for this strip mall from a bygone era), so I'm not sure what the future of the Jungle of Niles is. They are hoping to move--that's the reason for the fundraiser--but if you've harbored a desire to visit, I would stop by just in case.
