They have what you need. The store is good, always stocked, clean, and the manager is helpful along with everyone else there. But I will WARN you to not go if there is a cop(s) in the parking lot after 9pm. They will follow you for a good distance. Obviously the pigs use that parking lot as their hunting grounds for when the restaurants close right before this liquor store closes. Since my most recent amputation (that feels weird to write, but I've had 3. What can I say?), I've been a lot more aware of trying to accomplish as many tasks as possible with one stop. I was having dinner nearby and saw Big Red located in the adjacent strip center. I believe it used to be located at a nearby corner, but relocated. I could be wrong. I only recently started exploring the beer world again and have to admit until recently it had been years since I'd been in a liquor store. I'd been to the Big Red near Geist. They had a wide selection, but it wasn't the most wheelchair friendly. This Broad Ripple location is just the opposite - it seems like a smaller space, a somewhat more modest selection, but a MUCH better layout and I had very little difficulty wheeling around it with the exception of a couple corner spots. Plus, an employee who was shelving products repeatedly offered to move if I needed to get where he was at. I've been mostly devoting myself to the local brewing scene. So, I immediately gravitated to that section. I should note - this strip center does have accessible parking and curb cuts. They aren't perfect, but they're functional. The doorway is a glass door and as is typical of a liquor store you tend to have products right around the doorway (so, I don't advise swinging the door enthusiastically and shouting out "Mister Fabulous is here." Not that I've ever done that. I was greeted quickly and wheeled my way over to the beer section. Big Red has a nice balance of national, local, regional, and craft brews. Prices are fairly competitive - it did seem like I saw more beer selections here where I said "I can find that cheaper elsewhere." Employees were friendly. I appreciated that when they were offering suggestions that they referred to each other by name. It's a subtle way of having people get to know you. Masks were required. Social distancing was expected. The checkout counter was a tad high but workable. There's a safety factor here that's important and they seem to manage it well. Big Red is offering delivery, curb-side pick-up, and they have an app. They serve up beer, wine spirits, kegs, cigarettes, and some snacks. You can also get quite a few of the mixes and juices often used with mixed drinks, as well. In this one strip center, I can have dinner, get a haircut, hit Magic Bus, and stop by Big Red when needed. I love the convenience and this will definitely be a "go to" Big Red spot for me because it's pretty wheelchair friendly and the staff is helpful. I'll definitely be back. read more

This location is very convenient due to the free parking and proximity to our house. The selection is pretty wide and I feel comfortable being there, which I think is a huge plus to a liquor store. They also have vendors there at times for tasting and they carry local spirits, beer, wine, and mixers. That's important to me so I can give back to local businesses when able. read more

These guys used to be on the corner of Winthrop and BR Ave, had no parking and a tiny store. I believe under new ownership now it is definitely different. I have to say I'm very glad they added 3 15min parking spots for people running in to get booze at the store as that parking lot is nearly 100% full every day after 7pm. Inside the store they have a HUGE selection of booze!! a pretty damn good selection of beer and a decent selection of wine. Add in your mixers and what nots they have a lot. The staff is friendly, and courteous. ive never needed help finding anything or had to ask for opinions so I'm not sure of their knowledge but overall its a good store with good prices and is very convenient. read more

Drizly app users DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION. They never in stock what they have in their store availability. It also takes around 1-2 hours to get there order, that is to say if it even arrives correct. They used to do tastes of different items they offered. This was great because it allowed you to try and potentially purchase something I normally wouldn't. The variety of liquors and beer is not bad. I liked this place a lot better when Gary was the wine manager. He was knowledgeable and just downright interesting to talk with! I also miss the "buy 3 starred bottles and get 20% off" promo, which apparently has been discontinued. For those two reasons, I'll probably not stop in often but I highly doubt this location will hurt from my lost business...it's a prime area near a couple large apt. complexes, and on the main drag of Broad Ripple Ave. read more

"Would you like to try some wine?" Well sure! We tried 2 different red blends and actually left with 2 bottles of the $7.99 one. "Would you like to try some bourbon?" Sir, I would like nothing more at this very moment. We tried some Ezra Craig, some Four Roses, some Sweet Lucy (not the cream variety), and 1-2 others before leaving with a bottle of Four Roses tucked in the bag next to the wines. The store is spacious but it does smell of incense due to sharing a wall with Magic Bus. Lots of beers, wines, mixers, booze of all flavors and colors, and in all price ranges. One of my favorite liquor stores, truthfully. Sale prices are very good too. My favorite part is the tasting counter though. If I'm going to spend $8-50+ on something to consume, I don't like to feel like I'm taking a risk. Unlike the old Big Red Liquors, which was roughly the size of a Carmel master suite, this one is huge and spacious and shares the large parking lot with the rest of the Broad Ripple Station businesses. read more

I don't often buy liquor, but I've dropped in here a handful of times to buy whiskey for my husband's birthdays. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. They ask what my price point is and then offer suggestions. My husband was thrilled with the Booker's small batch whiskey I bought on suggestion. Last time I was in I asked about the Sazerac brands. the employee I asked didn't know about the company, but he went in the back and asked another employee who kindly came out and told me a brief history of the company and suggested I sign up for emails - they'll alert you when rare items come into the store. read more

I just had the best customer service experience thanks to Chris. I'm a huge craft beer fan and only had a short time in Indianapolis. I told Chris what I liked and kind of what I was looking for and he gave me so much information it almost made my head spin. I was trying to seek out local flavor and he gave me the rundown of everything they carried in the state. It's obvious that Chris has a passion for craft beer and is a wealth of information on the subject. I may not make it back on this visit, but I will definitely go back to this Big Red next time I'm in Indy. I recently visited this branch for the first time, reminiscing over college day alcohol runs. Although this location is not as huge and awe-inspiring as Big Red's College Ave Bloomington location, it had a good selection of liquor and was clean & well-organized. Prices were average. I was looking for a new bourbon option to replace my expensive Woodford Reserve habit, and a friendly salesperson spent a few minutes with me, highlighting cheaper selections that would not sacrifice too much taste. I appreciated that he didn't talk down to me, as a female buying hard liquor, which I've experienced at other stores. The craft beer selection was smaller than I expected and they didn't offer the full line of some more popular breweries, but they still had many options to consider. Any bourbon savings were wasted on a 4-pack of Goose Island bourbon stout; bourbon always gets me in the end, in spite of best intentions. read more

Don't order a keg from here!!! My husband and I placed an order on Monday, June 27 for a half barrel of Miller Lite for our 4th of July party, at the Broad Ripple location in Indianapolis, IN. We physically went into the store, filed out a form and talked to the woman working behind the counter. We were told it would be ready for pickup the morning of the 4th. My husband called to see if they were open around 9am yesterday morning and then proceeded to ask if our keg was all set to be picked up. He was told that there was no record of us having even ordered a keg and then when we asked if they would price match with a different keg or remedy the situation somehow (we has 50 people coming to our party, and beer was promised to them) we were told that we couldn't be helped. This is a really nice addition to the Broadripple business community. This place really has the selection that can only be described as the bomb. I mean they even stock the Don Julio 1942 tequila that comes in at 160 dollars a bottle down to the rot gut that would be at home in any Midwest trailer park. Beer wine selection that is a real out on the limb as far as inventory risk. If it doesn't sell it is not like you just send it back where it came from. The staff is a little hit and miss but all and all they are at least adequately trained. Yay Big Red glad you are there. Oh and now they have a delivery service...for a fee. read more
