Last time I checked leap year comes every 4 years. It is sad that I will never go back after this last insane excuse, we literally rented 4 cabins, which is alot of money. This with a check in window between 4pm and 6pm. We wanted to just toodle along and make it within that window but felt pressured to be more exact. When we arrived I asked when breakfast was served and was told 9 am. Period. No window this time, no asking what time would be best for us, just 9am. Admittedly we did not push back. Our host didn't ask if we had any food allergies nor were we given any choices whatsoever. We stayed in the Presidents room, comfortable bed, nice linens, very tiny shower with nowhere to even lay a washcloth. We heard traffic all night even with white noise on our phone. sigh A Keurig is available if you want coffee in the morning before 9am but Maxwell House only. sigh Breakfast was what appeared to be brewed coffee but was probably Maxwell House again, (no tea offered), mixed berries in cream, French toast with real maple syrup, link sausages (which I don't eat) orange juice(which I don't drink). The host proceeded to sit on a sofa in the breakfast nook and we felt we needed to strike up a conversation with him. This wouldn't have been quite so odd if he had ever introduced himself. sigh I wouldn't mind if this didn't cost us $228 for one night, a Thursday night. There are other choices in the area. My suggestion would be to try another B&B or a hotel.

The breakfasts are homemade with locally sourced ingredients and presented in a manner rivaling a 5-star hotel. But the best feature of this establishment is the owner, Bill who has a wealth of knowledge about the area that cannot be done justice in this review. I encourage a trip to Chillicothe and the Atwood House. You will leave with an indelible experience you will never forget.

So, being a fan, I couldn't say no. We went on a Friday and stayed until Sunday in the Dalia. They have four place with a Hobbit feel and others that are more Moroccan in their feel. It's a pretty big place a very close to lots of hiking areas as well as places to eat in Logan. You'll need a passcode to get into the places so you can't simply speak "friend" and enter. Each place has its own cedar hot tub which we definitely indulged in nightly. There's a sauna there too but you have to pay extra. We really enjoyed our place but we did have a minor issue with the kitchen area. There's no oven but just a two burner cooktop which is a little tricky to operate. We figured it out after a while. Still, overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and the owners were easy to contact if we needed anything. This made for a great weekend getaway and one any LOTR fan would surely love. You'll feel like you're staying in The Shire waiting for Gandalf to arrive precisely when he means to.

These homes are hobbit style homes. Only 11 miles from Hocking Hills downtown area and hiking. This property has half Moroccan style homes and other half hobbit style. We booked online and it was smooth checking in. The owners were very detailed with instructions/rules of the property and left their number incase we had any questions. I was impressed how the inside is inviting and cozy. The beds are comfortable, love the bathroom shower, the fire pit and grill area. And last the hot tub, we definitely took advantage of using it quite often! It wasn't too hot and was comfortable. The sauna is an extra charge if you want to partake. My only con is the dining room. The chairs were not leveled with the table so we had to eat in the living room. And last, if you like to cook, they don't have an oven and they have a small electric stove which was a challenge to figure how to turn off. Overall, My Mr and I had a wonderful stay. I would definitely come back and try another style home. It was a much needed weekend getaway.

Not only do they make you feel welcome, comfortable, safe and secure, but they are wonderful founts of local and regional information and sublimely charming. Curvy roads, lots of trails and an absolute win for us as it they were having their Halloween event at the campgrounds so got to stop, talk to some of the nicest folks and check out the decorated campgrounds. Lots of space for campers left which surprised me but the park is a bit off the beaten path here in beautiful Ohio. My favorite part was climbing up the old watch tower. The top isn't open to get in to the box at top but high enough to have a lovely view of the countryside.

Scioto Trail State park has become one of our favorites after only our second camping adventure…read morethere. It's the perfect distance from Columbus to make it a doable drive after work on a Friday so that we're able to set up camp before too late in the evening. It's also just enough topography to help you forget for a moment that you're in relatively flat Ohio. (I know I mentioned the forestry service/state forest roads in my previous review but they are well worth the drive in the fall. Especially this fall where the cold snap in September lead to gorgeous colors.) On this past adventure, while it was exceedingly rainy, we still found time to take a hike. We walked around the lake which was lovely as most of the maples still had their leaves. Hiked the Friendship Trail which picks up in the offshoot of the campground and ends on the road at the end of the activities field. We also hiked part of the Church Hollow trail which made for some great mushroom finds. I even saw my first ever wild yam plant (identified later as there is NO cell service within the campground area)! We were pretty much self contained camping, in the same spot as last time. I recommend checking out the sites on the off shoot of the campground. The sites are a bit wider and most of the sites are shaded. I visited the pit toilets once when we first arrived and found them to be clean as far as Ohio state park pit toilets go. They weren't being sanitized at the same rate they were a couple of months ago however, I am sure they are used far less when it starts to get chilly and more and more campers are in RVs.

We might have stayed here before, but we have family in town so we generally stay with them. But we didn't want to overwhelm them this time so stayed over here. Super service. They weren't very full last night, but I bet they will be tonight for the holiday. Pool is right up front, and we went in for a bit. No screaming kids. Rooms are small but nicely appointed. Fridge, microwave, decent TV. Comfy beds. Muted road noise, because you are right beside the highway. Fairly loud hallway noise, not bad on an emtpyish night but probably annoying when it's busy. Small bathroom, just the tub and toilet. Sink and mirror in room. Good enough for a short stay with a couple people. No extra outlets or USBs. Well, two outlets on the bedside lamp. Reasonable prices. Free wifi, seems a little weak though. Small free breakfast, nothing special. I'm sure we'll be back.
