We opted to stay here and recuperate in Alameda's hot springs after three days of strenuous hiking…read morein Glacier National Park and before flying back out of Missoula. This very cozy complex of cottages and rooms were built in the 1930s. The hot water in the kitchen and in the room tubs are all from the hot springs below the retreat center. I asked, and apparently you can actually drink the hot spring water. Though it does taste strange (because of all the sulfur and magnesium). And it may impact your digestion. (We did NOT drink the hot spring water available from the sink in our room's kitchenette! We only drank the cold water, which is from the municipal tap.) I think that the way this place works is that the rooms have permanent residents. But when they are out of town for an extended period of time, their rooms get rented out to travelers like me. My partner and I stayed in Room #9, which was smaller than the other rooms, as it lacked a full bathroom. Instead the room had a tiny closet next to the bed with only a toilet in it! Because of this situation, occupants of Room #9 are able to access the "Mermaid Room," which has a toilet, sink, towels, and a vintage clawfoot bathtub (again, with hot spring water coming out of the faucet). This means, that a single person can have their own private hot spring soak in the Mermaid Room, which we took advantage of. Our room had a cozy bed with a space heater. We never felt cold in the room. The kitchen next to our room had a small table, an electric stove and oven, fridge, and utensils and plates. I wish it had basic spices and some cooking oil, but the town's grocery stores are a 5-minute walk away. While the access to the private bathtub was nice, my partner and I also wanted to soak together and outdoors, so we signed up for a 7:00 pm soak (an extra $10 for 2 people) in one of their four outdoor tubs, all separated from each other by high wooden fences, for privacy. The tubs are pretty basic. No jets or bubbles. But it was lovely to be able to soak under the stars. The town also has other nearby public hot spring tubs, two of them run by the tribes ($5 each - cash only and honor system), but none of them were private like Alameda's. Also, the staff we engaged with (who I think were also residents) were all very kind and helpful. We highly recommend this cozy spot with a lot of history and character (and characters)!

My wife and I just celebrated our 5th anniversary here, and every aspect of the trip was lovely!…read more The riverside room we got in the lodge had an incredible view of the Clark Fork. The French-pressed coffee in the room paired perfectly with the morning view from our patio. The complimentary snacks, wine, and robes were the icing on the cake. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was well-lit, kept cool and dark, and the bathroom floor was heated! The pools themselves were amazing, with varying degrees to soak in. The bathrooms and locker rooms were clean. Plenty of seating, both in the sun and in the shade. They kept water available all day, and the drink/snack stand was also nice to have. The views there are hard to beat! We cannot wait to come back, even in the winter. As for the food, we ate at the main restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. Each time, the food and service were excellent. Definitely a new go-to for my wife and I!

The natural surroundings are stunning, particularly the charming cabins located right by the river. It's a nice setting for those looking to disconnect and enjoy the scenery. The food was another high point--delicious and well-prepared and good portions. However, the one significant downside was the comfort of the room; we found the beds to be very uncomfortable, which definitely impacted our rest, we both woke up with achy backs. If you're visiting, the riverside cabins are nice for the charm and views, but you may want to keep the firm mattresses in mind.

Two of us came to Plains to be with family as winter was approaching, kind of a nerve-wracking time…read moreto travel for one who is not used to more serious winter weather. We booked directly, at the last minute, over the phone, and couldn't yet specify the number of nights we would need our two-bed room. The owners were completely flexible about that and we kept them apprised of our plans as soon as we knew them. This is a "self-serve" motel in that no one is on-site. You are given instructions on how to access your room, including the door code, before your arrival, via email. The same door code gives you access to an "amenities room" where you may pick up extras such as blankets, toilet paper, etc. The building is one-story, cute and a little dated. The room was furnished with two queen sized beds, a glider rocker, 2 nightstands, a microwave, a small coffee maker, and a large flatscreen tv with Dish satellite. There is an easily adjustable wall heater that makes it nice and warm quickly. Our bathroom had a tub-shower. The beds were very comfortable. The room was clean. Across the street is a cafe that serves lunch and dinner, and currently serves breakfast just 1-2 mornings a week. They give a discount to motel customers. About 3 blocks away is an espresso drive-through. So the location is convenient to important morning needs! :-) Whenever we had a need, we could text or call the owners and always got an immediate response no matter the hour. After four nights, we planned to leave but there was a winter storm warning so we weren't sure if we would be able to make it out. They were willing to hold our room for us until we knew we could make it out and just let them know by texting. We really appreciated their willingness to be so accommodating and flexible. Would definitely stay here again.

No cell service & terrible WiFi isn't just a slogan it's a promise and I loved it!!!…read more Lolo Hot Springs is in a beautiful location and has so much potential! The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and the staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try the restaurant, so I can't comment on the food. Pros: * Easy check-in process * Family-friendly and welcoming to kids * Plenty of loungers around the pool * Kids' life jackets readily available * Huge outdoor pool with gorgeous views * Women's side has 5+ shower stalls and 3 bathroom stalls * Plenty of outdoor seating * On-site restaurant Cons: The property could use a little updating and better attention to the overall ambiance. It feels somewhat run down in places, although it was clean enough that it didn't feel dirty or unpleasant. One experience that caught me off guard was when I purchased bottled water. The employee carrying them over rested the bottles against the sides of her neck under her chin while walking them to me. It was a very hot day, and I understand she was trying to cool off, but it wasn't something I expected when receiving sealed drinks. I ended up rinsing the bottles before opening them. Also, be prepared for snack prices. Everything in the snack area bottled water, soda, candy bars, and small bags of chips is $4 each. Those costs add up quickly for a family, so I'd recommend bringing your own water and snacks. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and the location is beautiful. With a few improvements to the facilities and some attention to the guest experience, this place could easily be a standout destination. I wish I had time to take more photos but I could t pass up on the merch picture when I got here.

I asked her what is the solution - she said I don't know. We were stuck with no signal and closest hotel is either one hour back or two and half hours forward; this was happening at 11:30 at night. I kindly asked her what is the solution if emergency happens, somebody needs something or you lose a hotel key... she said we have staff and hour away and she does not know. It is very concerning that in case of emergency staff lives an hour away. We did not get a hotel room and end up driving two and half hours in middle of the night exhausted. Pretty epic experience!

Almost $84 for something that is not even worth $5. Filthy that you have no idea. Creepy like from a Halloween movie. As soon as I opened the door and I saw what I saw, I wanted to leave that place. I didn't go to another place because I was driving for a 9 of hours already, I was tired and I was with my mom an elderly person. And they charged my card already, but I should of leave and forget the $84 to do them a favor, because the night was horrible. First it stinks like pee all over. I had to spray my perfume everywhere. At night time I killed spiders. There are spider webs everywhere. The walls are very dirty. The lamp, shade and night table, discusting. The power button from the t.v. was missing, the remote control didn't work, so no t.v. since the button for power was gone, only a hole. Only one towel in the bathroom, the rest were hand towels. The bathtub didn't have a shower head. No terminations on the bathtub (when culkie is so cheap) spiders were coming out of there. From the closets it seems that a creepie person is going to come out of them, filthy. The carpet wasn't vacuum and it seems that they haven't been shampoo like in the last 20 years. Do have air conditioning but you can see this big amount of dust coming out of the filter and craveses. The mattress as old as the town. In another words RUN from this place. Things can be old, but they need to be clean. This people are pigs. WAY to expensive for a Halloween movie set.
