Newly remodeled rooms are so cute and comfy! Friendly staff, very accommodating. Location is great and within walking distance of a diner.

This is my second business trip to Plains MT in as many years. This is also the second time that I have stayed at the Dew Duck Inn. The rooms are awesome, well appointed, warm and comfortable. The rooms are equipped with "Dish" satellite TV...really nice when it works. First no clicker to even turn it on, then later it develops some error in a switch someplace. Okayyy, not that big of an issue tonight...let's just have it working tomorrow, eh? This hotel has steam heating...digital controls, and unlike all other steam registers in the world, this one works flawlessly and makes no noises. I appreciate that...!!! There are only 8 hotel rooms here...drive up to your door. Not much to see from the street and certainly nothing unique to catch your attention or to draw you in...except, this is the only hotel around town. But, all said and done, this hotel shows pride, maintenance and investment. A real nice hotel, warm and inviting...very comfortable. Glad I'm here...!!!

If I could rate negative stars I would! Stayed here with my grandparents who have stayed in this motel on many occasions. I woke up to bugs crawling on me in the middle of the night. We talked to the owner who was pretty rude about the situation. Not once did he apologize about the situation his words were " this is montana and there are bugs and you have to deal with it when you stay at this motel" so I guess to stay here you have to accept you will have bugs crawling on you! Just can't believe how the owner talked to us! Never would we stay here again! 3 grown adults had to sleep in one queen bed! I have never stayed in a hotel that said it was normal to have bugs in the bed! You should never have to pay to stay somewhere and that be ok! Not once did he apologize for the situation I just can't believe the attitude of the owner. When I showed him the pictures Of the bed he said " okay and" so not only would I never stay here because of the bugs but the owners need to learn some customer service and how to run a business! So I guess if your okay with bugs crawling on you you will have a fabulous time!!

We opted to stay here and recuperate in Alameda's hot springs after three days of strenuous hiking…read morein Glacier National Park and before flying back out of Missoula. This very cozy complex of cottages and rooms were built in the 1930s. The hot water in the kitchen and in the room tubs are all from the hot springs below the retreat center. I asked, and apparently you can actually drink the hot spring water. Though it does taste strange (because of all the sulfur and magnesium). And it may impact your digestion. (We did NOT drink the hot spring water available from the sink in our room's kitchenette! We only drank the cold water, which is from the municipal tap.) I think that the way this place works is that the rooms have permanent residents. But when they are out of town for an extended period of time, their rooms get rented out to travelers like me. My partner and I stayed in Room #9, which was smaller than the other rooms, as it lacked a full bathroom. Instead the room had a tiny closet next to the bed with only a toilet in it! Because of this situation, occupants of Room #9 are able to access the "Mermaid Room," which has a toilet, sink, towels, and a vintage clawfoot bathtub (again, with hot spring water coming out of the faucet). This means, that a single person can have their own private hot spring soak in the Mermaid Room, which we took advantage of. Our room had a cozy bed with a space heater. We never felt cold in the room. The kitchen next to our room had a small table, an electric stove and oven, fridge, and utensils and plates. I wish it had basic spices and some cooking oil, but the town's grocery stores are a 5-minute walk away. While the access to the private bathtub was nice, my partner and I also wanted to soak together and outdoors, so we signed up for a 7:00 pm soak (an extra $10 for 2 people) in one of their four outdoor tubs, all separated from each other by high wooden fences, for privacy. The tubs are pretty basic. No jets or bubbles. But it was lovely to be able to soak under the stars. The town also has other nearby public hot spring tubs, two of them run by the tribes ($5 each - cash only and honor system), but none of them were private like Alameda's. Also, the staff we engaged with (who I think were also residents) were all very kind and helpful. We highly recommend this cozy spot with a lot of history and character (and characters)!
