Overpriced for what the water park is! Went here with my 6 year old neice yesterday, hot tub was crowded full of kids splashing us and kicking me in the ribs with their feet not minding others hot tub was also cold and dirty, the much warmer hot tub was closed the maintence guy only told me 30 minutes but ended up being half the day and still wasn't opened, food was fine but overpriced the store lady even charges a restraurant tip of $10% $15% $25% and 30% on top of the cost of the item for a candy shop just for a small tub of cotton candy slides were okay but to many restrictions with the tubes down which slide and water was freezing my neice had very lil fun on the slides I will never be back to Big Splash again my neice will be back with her parents wanting to take her but she says she doesn't want to come back after our expereince read more

If my daughter were reviewing this she'd give it 5 stars, so there's no doubt that kids will love this place! This waterpark has been re-named and cleaned up quite a bit which is great to see. Why only 3 stars? Well, first of all I really think they should have a discounted rate for parents who are there as chaperones and not there to slide (other water parks do this ). My biggest pet peeve about this place is the food situation. There is absolutely no outside food allowed! The GF options were raw veggies with hummus or a sketchy looking quinoa salad. What an absolute garbage of a water park! After Big Splash took over Splashdown, policies have changes for the worst. Now, not only can you not allow any outside food in, rent bbq and propane to grill your food, you have to pay for parking and the to top it all off, the food they are serving are disgusting! Their fries are soft and soggy; pizza are old and cold; hotdogs wieners are boiled and they are all over priced. To pay $30 +tax for my 4 yr old to enter the park is an absolute waste of money and time! If I could rate this junk establishment negative numbers, I would gladly do so. If you're looking for a water slide water park, go to cultus lake or head south to Blaine, Washington and save money while having fun. read more

I'm not the biggest fan of waterparks. I personally think they're a big germ-fest, with little kids most likely peeing in the water and other people swimming in it. That being said, I went here with my younger cousins last weekend when they were in town and I had a really great time. I have been to Big Splash when it was under previous management and formerly Splashdown, so I was curious to see how the new management had changed things up. To be honest, it was pretty much the same. Except I did notice that it was much, much, cleaner - which I was pretty happy about. For a full day pass it's $26 each. I believe kids under 4 are free. My cousins and I did the twilight pass, which runs from 4-closing (7pm), for $17 each. I think this was a better deal, because I could not imagine spending 8+ hours at this particular waterpark (there just aren't enough slides) and you're not in peak sun/heat time. 3 hours were more than enough time for my cousins and I. There are 8-10 main slides which all are a bit different. My favourites were definitely the cliffhanger and solar splash. I much prefer faster waterslides, and with these two I felt like I was zooming through them. The eagle run was also really fun because it kind of reminded me of a waterslide slash lazy river. We didn't eat a full meal here, but looking at the menu, the food was a bit overpriced. But for $20, we enjoyed 3 ice creams in a waffle cone, and grabbed a table to enjoy a quick treat before getting back on the slides. I didn't run into any service problems that some of the other reviews talked about. But just keep in mind that this is definitely a teen employee hot spot, with it being a prime summer job opportunity. So just be patient with the staff. As a waterpark overall, Big Splash is A-okay. I don't think I'd go back again, but my cousins went twice when they were in town and loved every minute of it. So if it's a hit with the kids, then I'd say that's a success! read more

My mother took my child and her friend yesterday (Mid-June 2018). It was dirty, shabby, the changing rooms looked like the end of the season not the start of it. The swimmers said that the water was dirty. The toilets were dirty. And there was a 60 minute line up for mediocre food, made necessary by a ban on bringing in your own food - if you won't let them bring their own food, at least have the capacity to provide it. On the positive side there were many lifeguards, although they did not seem particularly happy to be there. $58 for two swimmers and one other - Going Back? Not ever! read more

I enjoyed the slides here. Though one thing that annoyed me was there was a group of 3 elementary aged kids who passed the line for Splash Blaster, Twist and Shout, and those two other blue slides on that platform. These kids were not supervised by their parents and cut in front of everybody three times and the lifeguards said nothing. Splash Blaster, Twist and Shout, Cliff Hanger, and Kamikaze are due for replacement though. I did not get stuck, but they were not as smooth as a water slide would typically be so I went down and was not moving as fast as I typically would. All the other slides were good. This park was renovated and re-opened under new management. We visited during our vacation on the first full day of operations for this summer and had a blast! I would highly recommend this place for families with kids over 48" (the recommended height for all the big slides) or under 4yrs. It might be disappointing for those in-between who aren't interested in the toddler area but can't ride the big slides. We came with a 2 year old and an 8 yr old and enjoyed the whole park! This was the first place we've seen that had actual water slides with no minimum height for toddlers, and not just one but 6! Also, you can ride with your kid on your lap, you can see your toddler form the bottom if you want to catch them etc! One of the slides is wide and short so you can ride next to your toddler or just lift them onto it right from the bottom of the slide. There is also one much faster wide slide that you can do with kids on your lap or next to you, but they may get their head dunked at the end. The water is pretty warm, but our skinny guy got cold after a while. Luckily the giant hot tub is right next to this area so you can warm up easily. The big kid rides are super fun and felt very safe to me, with high walls or enclosed and ended in pools shallow enough for 48" to stand up. I noted plenty of life guards watching as well. I didn't see them measuring kids for the height requirement... so not sure how strict that is but maybe they can tell. We went on a warm Saturday evening 5-7pm and there were almost no lines at all... I got tired climbing all of the stairs over and over because there was no waiting :D. We didn't have a chance to try the food. The park was very neat and clean with nice landscaping and plenty of grass seating and tables for eating. The women's changing floor was wet, but I didn't note any other issues. My boys told me the men's changing room wasn't very clean, but I just had them shower off and towel dry and we changed at home. It was close to Vancouver (30 min drive) and definitely worth it, I highly recommend! read more

Big Splash is definitely a downgrade from the older version Splashdown. They don't allow you to bring in food, and the staff rummage through your bags to search for food. However, people with allergies or extra food needs get to bring in whatever they want. The actual food selection at the park is mostly low quality junk food, and the seagulls eat it anyway if you turn your head for one second. The slides are satisfactory, and there is a good selection for children, but the change rooms are very primitive. They consist of a wet, slippery, waxy floor with a single stall, as well as long wait times. I recommend that you go to Cultus Lake if you want to go to a water park. read more

Took my 4 & 8 year old. Kiddie slides barely had water coming down them, my child had to push herself down. Water in all slide & pool areas dirty!! Nothing looked renovated to me. I don't think I'll be back. Perhaps try Cultus Lake Water Slides next time. $28 per person is too much!! Plus parking $5, plus $15 for locker but you get $10 back when you return the key. Went to this place with my girls. I was expecting to not pay for the full price since I was just there to watch them. Talk to a manager named Mitchell who actually came out and said it was up to his own discretion as to whether let somebody in or not. I explained to him that it would be so cheap to just put on a $.25 neon wristband so that they can monitor who was going down the slides, which was his reasoning and that's why they had to charge everybody the same rate because there was no way to see who is using the rides and not. Old rides, nothing amazing or worth the price or the lines. Came to try it out when it reopened under new ownership when we heard they'd made improvements. There was a new hot tub and that was basically it, but for some reason they charge close to the same price as cultus as well as $5 for parking for some reason which is just a cash grab. On top of the unwarranted price you aren't even able to bring in your own lunch which sucks if you have a bunch of people (unlike cultus) Long lines, boring slides... I would HIGHLY recommend taking the slightly longer trip to cultus. The park is larger and has better rides for adults and kids, better areas to relax, way more variety and you can bring your own food in which Helps when you have a large group and kids with you. Policy regarding outside food and beverages has changed and is now restricted. This change cannot be found on the website. The rules at the actual park reference outside food but not drinks. The gate keeper verbally informed us of this "strict new policy" regarding "only bottled water" that is not listed anywhere. Speaking with a higher up did nothing. They also had no record of our online reserved picnic table and it was a pain in the ass to convince them otherwise. 2 stars only due to the slides and pools being either refinished or painted. read more

The new updated slides were great. The food bar was a disaster! Over a hour to get food. So many people were extremely upset as you couldn't bring food in and as staff checked every bag and coolers, you had to wait an hour to get food. When people complain to management they literally avoided the complaints. My self and at least 9 others that I saw wanted there money back and that took another half hour. So if you go you better eat good before going. Not a good start and So sad. Just a note if you can't keep up with orders don't keep taking orders! Hope the New management gets this fixed! read more

Took my group of kids here for work, and as one of my kids were going down the slide, barely any water came down, causing him to get stuck on the slide. A man came RUSHING DOWN CRUSHING my child and yelling at my child for being in the way, not knowing that he was still on the slide. The lifeguards just blamed my child for going down the slide too early, but IF THAT WAS THE CASE, THEN WHY DIDN'T HE STOLL THE WATER SLIDE AND TELL THE OTHER PERSON TO NOT GO ON THE SLIDE YET, until the child slid down. Obviously, the lifeguard felt embarrassed and couldn't take the blame for his own mistake. read more

We went as a family and have been there in the past before the new opening. We use to bring some food and snacks to make our budget work for the day. Well now you can not bring food! Staff is nice, music is great (a bit too loud). Still a great place with some nice up-dates but they have to change the food policy or loose many families on a budget or with dietary needs. First of all, I want to say that our 6 year old daughter just LOVED this place and all the slides. I enjoyed this aspect the most which did not disappoint at all! The young staff were also very nice and friendly. However I will say that whoever is at the top and managing this place are very petty and cheap! On top of a hefty $28 per head entrance fee they ding you with a $5 parking fee in their lot which is really petty as far as Im concerned. If you are determined to avoid this stupid extra fee you could park at the Twawwassen Mills Mall about 7-10 minutes walk away, but who wants to in the heat when you are carrying chair and towels?! If you want to put your stuff in a locker they charge $10 with a $5 deposit! Most other pool lockers charge 25 cents with a returnable quarter!! But I find it AUDACIOUS that they have the NERVE to tell you in their rules that you are not allowed to bring in your own outside food or drinks!!! This practice seems way outdated to have of not allowing outside food especially when they have a huge grass area behind the slides where people could eat their own food. Ridiculous! And just a heads-up that even though it says they check bags, they did not check ours or other people's in front of us, so I go the impression that the staff probably think this rule is also stupid as it looks very easy to bring your own outside food in discreetly. It is not an airport so I would challenge them by bringing my own outside food. If they tell me I am not allowed I would say we only eat raw food and if you deny us this is discrimination. This is a place where kids are the main "customers" and they are still promoting the consumption of junk food???? (greasy, smelly french fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, deep fried chicken strips and pizza??) the only 'healthy" food item I noticed were overpriced carrot and celery sticks (boring!) and tasteless looking fruit cups (who wants to eat this boring generic fruit in the summer when there are so many local organic fruit places to choose from?) Anyhow, management needs to change this rule or put in a mini Whole Foods with high quality, nutritious food items to choose from. People in this day and age just don't go for that same kind of low quality fast food anymore, but they still get sucked in. I did not notice bags being checked at all as other reviewers mentioned. The water slides themselves are decent enough. The slide assistants seemed a little lazy and uncaring but since the ones I saw were teens I let that slide. (No pun intended) However I was extremely dissatisfied when we went to get food at the bar area. We sat down at the bar and waited for a server to come over, there were five other tables, when she came to us I ordered a drink and asked to start with calamari. After we ordered we decided to move outside and sit. She brought me my drink and we waited nearly 25 minutes before my aunt came over and asked what was taking so long for us to eat. I told her we were still waiting for our food. She asked a different server where it was and was told they were out of calamari. I told her we had ordered some nearly 30 minutes ago and pointed at our waitress. She said she would check with her and be back. When she came back she simply said they were out and asked us if we would like something else. I said that we would like a few minutes to decide. After 10 minutes we had to flag down a third waitress to take our order and at this time there are only three other tables and she rushed us through our order. They're out of mostly everything so we decided to get burgers. After we order, nearly 40 minutes after first being served, our very first waitress has the audacity to come over and say "sorry we're out of calamari, would you like something else?" I told her that we had already re ordered. When or food came out our waitress was very unfriendly and never came back to check on us. The service here is terrible. We still left a tip, but the chef deserved it not the waitresses. Food is good, service is awful and lack lustre. Won't be eating from the bar again. read more

Ok to start off, this water park is very fun, the slides are enjoyable and the new owners have cleaned it up nicely. Now, the hard truth. I went to the concession stand to order some fries and what shows up? A plate of barely cooked fries. I was deeply disappointed by this. Next is the bottom of the pool. It's so rough that it scrapes your legs which is less then enjoyable when you're shot out of a slide. Now the worse part, something which my feet are complaining about at this moment, is the cement they make us to walk on. It's everywhere and there's no avoiding it! I guess it's for grips but the Little Rock's in the cement or whatever dig into your poor feet and cause great pain. There are other things I could describe but I'm just going to leave it at this, this is a water park, not intended to enjoy a luxurious meal or for you to swim around, all it is, is a nice place to enjoy sliding. I would definitely come again but will be staying far away from the food. read more

The black woman lifeguard was the BEST HUMAN BEING EVER! Give her a raise! She appeared to be really enjoying her job and made every effort to spread joy to all the people she interacted with. She made the experience much more awesome. All the other female lifeguards were very nice and friendly. Pretty much all the male lifeguards with the exception of one were moody and seemed to be unhappy to be there... The washrooms were absolutely horrendous and for that alone I will never go back. But that woman made the day fantastic! Also, no one follows the no food rule so just bring your own food. One of the slides was very sharp where the paint was peeling off, so I told the lifeguard and hopefully they'll fix it. But otherwise they were in good condition. In every possible category Cultus waterslides win (except for their proximity to Vancouver). If they were cheaper than Cultus maybe it would be worth it... but those bathrooms need a desperate make over. read more
