I found it to be a great place for a long meditative walk as there as lots of paths you can take around the lake and through wooded areas. There are lots of benches by the lake for relaxing or more secluded picnic tables throughout the park. It's sprawling enough that you could probably spend an hour just exploring the different pathways. Well worth going out of your way to check it out.

A majority of the gym's equipment has been updated with new, smoother, legible, and more padded machines. If it's grey, black, and blue... it's new! The fitness centre has strategically placed TV's with air conditioning to a cool, comfortable temperature as you get your sweat on. Half the gym is lined with windows to allow for natural sunlight and outdoor sights and the other half is lined with mirrors for your viewing pleasure as you count those reps and pump those muscles. Considering the size of the fitness centre, it packs a well-organized and good variety of: - Cardio machines like exercise bikes, rowing machines, step machines, ellipticals and treadmills with screens, iPhone connections, and fans. - Weight training machines to target all the major muscle groups of your body that you desire. - Free weights from 2.5 to 90 lbs with a variety of benches and plenty of mirror space. - Bench press, Squat rack and a Smith machine round out the major equipment. There's so many other equipment choices you can find like jump ropes, kettlebells, resistance bands, weight belts, medicine balls, mats, foam roller, and full and half exercise balls. Not sure where to start? There's always someone in the fitness centre that can answer your questions, and at times there's a certified fitness trainer present. If this isn't enough, the fitness centre pass also includes group fitness classes such as yoga, run clubs, outdoor bootcamp, functionality training and more. Once you're all done and sweaty, change rooms are available with lockers (bring your own lock) and showers outside of the fitness room beside the restrooms. Fitness centre drop-in (as of Fall 2013) is $5.30. There are 10 visit punch cards and monthly options in which the deals get better as more months you buy. A 3 month pass is $98 which works out to be around $30/month. Youth and Senior passes available at a discounted rate. The centre opens Monday-Friday 6am-9:45pm and Saturday-Sunday 8am-8:45pm. Also, the fitness centre is usually open on holidays unlike some other places. No excuses now people - get your pump on! Overall great fitness centre but it does get a little crowded and occasionally slightly smelly when its peak gym times. Regardless, it's a great fitness centre that offers a lot towards your health, fitness and goal in becoming the next Arnold! There is actually a school playground on top of the hill with monkey bars, slides, the usual. We started there and saw so many kids in this other playground at the bottom of the hill on this dome-like structure and wondered what it was. The 2 playgrounds are separate by a long fence so you have to go around it. And the swings were between the 2 playgrounds for some reason, isolated on its own. Once we got a close-up, we saw the inside of the structure was a series of paths allowing the kids to weave in-and-out and climbing different heights, and also includes a longer slide as one of the exits. More for older kids 5+ though as the younger ones will get lost in there. The bigger kids really liked exploring the different paths. And walking distance to Marine Gateway shops and Coco Tea if you want to grab a bbt/snack after the playground.

The playground equipment, which is due for an upgrade this year, was quite limited and only had two swings -- a regular swing and a bucket swing for toddlers. There were more swings in the playground at the school next door, but they were all regular swings and not suitable for younger kids, such as our niece who was two at the time. Luckily we didn't have to wait long for the one bucket swing to become free, and not many people came by while we were there, but a second toddler swing would be nice for busier days. There are some paths around the lagoon as well as a picturesque foot bridge. There's also a playground for the kids. As mentioned, don't come here during the summer. This park has ample trails, ponds, kids play areas, basketball court, areas to have picnics, parking spaces...and a few more which I probably did not see. The one thing I noticed was there were no places within a quick walking distance to buy refreshments or food, but when in Richmond everything is a short drive and LOTS of food choices. Take the kids or if you like nature, it's certainly worth spend some quiet time (there are areas where the kids are far enough away :) )

I think this is very unnecessary as the kids were having fun. As parents we were already trying to get the kids out of the play area to the best of our ability, but kids don't necessarily respond well to yelling. I liked the venue, but won't be coming back. We came here to have fun, and this kind of customer service has definitely left a very negative impression for us.

There are also a handful of playground toys, rides, slides and other attractions, complete with foam padding, safety nets and flashing lights, guaranteed to attract their attention! Admission is $28 per child (with one "free" adult allowed to accompany them) with no time restrictions. Posters in the restrooms also advertise special "after-hours" events, such as a Nerf War night for 8+ year olds, which sounds like a blast, even for an old kid-at-heart like me! About the only thing to complain about would be the rather terse and aloof staff running the front desk and managing the expected intake forms and disclaimers - they could be a little more lively and upbeat, if you ask me.
