Two of our children now attend Big Valley Christian School and our third child will in 2 years. We absolutely love this school. The staff is made up of amazing people who love the Lord and our children. It is great to see people whos desire is to invest into our children. We made the choice to send our children to private school because we are not confident with the public school system. There are many amazing teachers in the public school system, but our Government does not have our teachers or our children's best interest in mind. I had the ability to walk through classrooms of all ages at BVCS and was impressed by the classrooms and teachers. When I spoke to some of the students I was amazed at how well they were able to carry a conversation with me. So far we are three years into BVCS and we love the school more than the day my oldest started preschool. BVCS is not the most expensive Christian school in town, but they are not the cheapest either. It is an investment in our children, my wisest investment to date. read more

Large issue with sexual texting and bullying with little to no accountability. Not a true approach of biblical discipline and behaviour corrections wish I could be refunded but last year for our children at this school. I hope the boy sending naked nudes of himself is going to be expelled. Also, issues of theft and clothes being tossed in toilets along with major bullying. Needs to have some consequential actions to behavior no matter how much these children's parents donate. GOD, please train up this admin to run this school properly under biblical terms as I see over 5 1-star ratings in the last year so this usually points to something or someone, correct and guide them. The worst school ever. I went to this school form first grade till eight grade and the discrimination,racism, and ranking in the school is the worst. Throughout all my years i struggled through racism and was called the n word with the hard r as well for years. I would constantly report it and express my feelings about this and the most they would do is say they were sorry and send me back to class. Never held accountability or taught others not to do that. The education was horrible as well i was a straight A student and never struggled in my studies. I was was in honor roll and was consistent with my work. But once i hit seventh grade i had a sub as a science teacher the whole year who taught nothing at all. All she did was be on her phone and then when we would have test everyone would fail. The principal came in multiple times and had different subs come in and try to teach us the lesson to do retakes. I didn't learn anything the whole year and had to retake physical science freshman year instead of being ahead (like they promote) and being in biology. Same for math luckily i was able to recover end of the year and move into geometry my freshman year at public school. The staff here are also extremely racist and unprofessional like the disciplinary Mr. Davenport who constantly was talking about all the money he supposedly had? And then bragging constantly about how the school spent thousands of dollars in bleachers and a new screen for the football stadium when they were literally days where the toilets would stop working and we would have unfiltered water! The bullying in the school is horrible! Constantly the teachers would not talk to you or pay attention to you if your family wasn't well known or donated a great sum of money. Academically, I don't think the school is as strong as some of the public schools (speaking at a high school level). Secondly, I don't think the culture here is great. My kid is bullied and made fun of during worship. The bullying is a problem, I'd say worse than a public school since the student body is so small. Administration is more responsive when bringing up issues vs. public schools, but I don't believe anything is being done to address the culture issues. I hear that a lot of kids are leaving but as far as I know, nobody is hearing them out to determine why they are leaving. At the end of the day it's hard to justify paying to go here when the issues are as bad or worse than a public school. We decided to move our child here for the spiritual growth but it was really tough with the culture issues. read more

If I have questions or concerns regarding anything about the school they are promptly addressed. Allowed my daughter to be abused by a fellow male student repeatedly, right in front of the teacher, and did nothing about it. Once the incidents were reported to administrators, nothing was done about it. They even failed to report it to law enforcement and the proper channels that Mandated Reporters are required to go through. Anything to protect their income and cover up their negligence. To add insult to injury, I was asked by the former principal, (who is now Superintendent) if I would please continue to allow the boy who hurt my daughter to stay in her class. Furthermore, if your child has special needs, they will not succeed here. I was told by the principal that there is no special education program at Big Valley, and no IEPs or 504 plans would be accepted there. If your child needs for accommodations or modifications to thrive in their learning environment, do not place them at this school. Big Valley also "lost" my daughter's records with the diagnosis that THEY had provided for her, and probably all record of their negligence in the abuse that goes on at that school. How convenient. BVCS is awesome! Christ centered and college prep from elementary through high school. The teachers and staff care about the students, the academics are rigorous to prepare your child for the next grade. We have wonderful elementary programs like PE, library & music each with teachers for those subjects. Lots of fun activities for families to enjoy such as Grandparents' Day, the Christmas Concert & Spring Concert and Open House. We have a great Theater Department for grades 3-12. Athletics helps nurture the students character as well as athletic ability. Our administration is personable, approachable, Christ focused and knows the students. Big Valley Christian School is by far the Best school in Modesto and the surrounding area. I have sent both of my kids from k-12 to BVCS and now my grandson is attending. They are a Christ centered and college prep school that works hard at partnering with parents in educating and influencing children for higher education and life. The task of evaluating a school is more important than thought. In life parents don't get a chance to go back and re-influence and rebuild the raising of their children. It is So important that we put our best foot forward when we have the one chance we're given. The responsibility and sacrifice are both Huge. I went to look at the school for my daughter who will be entering Pre-K. Scheduled an appointment and everything just to be stood up. Just trying to figure out the campus was a little confusing. I was walking around everywhere and no one questioned me or asked if I needed help. I waited for the preschool director in front of her office for about an 45 minutes and decided to find the main office. It took awhile because all sign said main office East building but doesn't point you in any direction. Once I found it they gals in there were helpful but gossiping about someone's divorce and then gave me a mini tour because they just couldn't find where the director was. With the size of the school and lack of concern of who was on campus has lead me to look for an alternative education for my daughter. It has nothing to do with their education system. It could be great but security didn't sit well with me. read more
