That said, the pastries overall were a little on the dry side and didn't really stand out compared to other bakeries in the area. The selection also felt somewhat limited, so if you're looking for a wide variety, this might not be your spot. Service was good and friendly, and it worked fine for a quick stop, but it didn't quite live up to some of the other bakeries nearby. We've definitely had better.

I've been going here since they were baking out of Black Coffee and I couldn't be more thrilled that they have their own place. The bread is absolutely top notch. Not many places do the European-style rye breads in the USA and Grist is knocking them out of the park. If you like that kind of thing, the pumpernickel is fantastic. The Miller's Grain is a fantastic sourdough loaf, as are all of the specialty varieties. I love that all of the grains are from Montana. You can taste how fresh the flour is, and I'm sure it's also more nutrient dense. I also appreciate the seasonality of their pastries. In the spring you'll find asparagus pastries, and pear in the fall. It is always a fun surprise to see what is new. I haven't had one of their sandwiches, but they look 10/10.
