Great Vintage With Incredible Retro-Style!…read more SITREP We were looking for pizza and instead initially wandered into this store only to find some awesome retro-dresses! THE SETUP My galpal Jenner & I were on the way back to Central Washington (after she picked me up at SEATAC), and on our way through Olympia, we got struck with massive hunger cravings for Pizza. As we headed to La Gitana, HOT TODDY crossed out path (or rather, we crossed IT'S path) and we had to wander inside of it once we were *blinded by the light* of all it's colors inside! STYLES & DESIGNS! We were inside a virtual smorgasbord of crazy fabrics & designs! I played guard to the dressing room while Jenner tried on some awesome dresses. I also foraged around for some smaller, more palatable items for a guy to wear and found some pretty cool jackets and socks. THE LOWDOWN After grabbing a couple of dresses, we were ready to go and find our pizza stop (which we did since it was almost next door). Missions Accomplished!

Today I walked in, a white Oly couple a few steps ahead of me. The clerk completely ignored them, but as soon as she saw me she RUSHED out from behind the counter in a panic as if to block my entry, saying "CAN I HELP YOU" in a stressed tone. She only relaxed when she saw my shopping bag from Radiance. I can't think of what would cause such a reaction, except that I am visibly brown. I'd hate to think that someone at such a sweet staple of downtown was racially profiling me. All in all it left a sour taste in my mouth. In over 10 years, I've never been treated this way here.

She told me they are supposed to hand them out but nobody is supposed to know. $5 increments they remind me of the old McDonald's $5 coupons, lol. If you have any issue or are not happy with your shopping experience talk to a manager for these coupons. Don't let them to you they don't have them, they do.

But considering Mother Earth falls victim to inhabitants of materialism and sadly a disposable society, my views have changed. I inquired about Value Village's donation process which aligned with my views. After a month on the sales floor, items are bundled and shipped to third world countries. My family has been sponsoring a Kenyan family and it's the right thing to do even if we eat cheap ramen to make it happen. The manager was super nice, explaining available rewards as well as discounts days! I felt the prices were fair, and an abundance of treasures awaited to find new homes. Great place to upcycle.

The Eagles #21 has history dating 100 years- through the beginning of the club's early founding, it's heyday in the 40's and 50's, and through it's slight decline in the 80's and 90's. Since then it has gone through numerous improvements to make it one of the best spots for entertainment and leisure. Decades of live events throughout the 4-level building have brought many different people together from all over the Oly area, and the world. Upstairs is the huge Eagles Grand Ballroom that is used for weekly dances and planned events such as weddings, proms, and recitals. There are performance art classes also available for anyone wanting to learn a type of dance, or drum. In the bottom level of the building is the E-mart. The Eagles houses a thrift store full to the brim of second-hand goods. From designer labeled clothing, to electronics, old VHS and DVDs, furniture, and from dishes and housewares to books and toys. Of course, the ground level is the member's lounge. Boasting the only bar in downtown Olympia to have the NFL ticket, the clubhouse can get any NFL game on it's six flat-screen TVs and projector. The Eagles is also home to the official Brown's Backers football club who meet for every Cleveland Brown game. And the best spot to watch all your Sounders, Mariners, and Seahawks games. Not a football fan? All throughout the week there are daily drink specials (cheapest in town), live music, karaoke, free pool and foosball, pull tabs, a stage and a dance floor and a jukebox, video games, potlucks, and great people enjoying the company at the bar. It is a member's only club, however. Joining is simple. There are yearly dues to being a member, and of course abiding by club rules and aerie bylaws. But they are always accepting more members to join and be a part of a great community of fundraisers who love to party!
