We always enjoy our time shopping at Value Village. There's so much stuff to search through. You never know what you'll find.

First and foremost, you have to remember that Value Village is not a non-profit store or business. While it accepts donations of used goods and partners with nonprofits, shopping in Value Village stores does not support any charity. They are overpriced. Can you find a good deal? Sometimes. Growing up with a mother who enjoyed thrift shopping, I remember feeling a bit more embarrassed than I liked. But considering Mother Earth falls victim to inhabitants of materialism and sadly a disposable society, my views have changed. I inquired about Value Village's donation process which aligned with my views. After a month on the sales floor, items are bundled and shipped to third world countries. My family has been sponsoring a Kenyan family and it's the right thing to do even if we eat cheap ramen to make it happen. The manager was super nice, explaining available rewards as well as discounts days! I felt the prices were fair, and an abundance of treasures awaited to find new homes. I had a very poor customer service experience at the Lacey Value Village. The manager (Jessica) was rude and aggressive. I was asking a nice friendly employee (Lynn) a question about an item and the manager interrupted the conversation, accused me of being disrespectful to the employee and told me I couldn't make any purchases in the store. read more

First of all, their prices are quite high when you consider everything is donated. Secondly, why do I have to ring up my own purchase? I'm sick to death of the general lack of service that is now deemed acceptable. A gaggle of employees stand around while I have to ring up my own overpriced merchandise. Last but not least, the lack of autonomy these employees, including management, have is astounding. I tried to pay for a $5 toy that was unmarked by ringing up another, similar toy twice. I was accosted by the clerk watching me ring up my purchase who swiftly removed the "double ring." When I explained why I scanned the item twice, she confiscated the unmarked toy, stating it could not be sold without a tag. What? I asked if it could be priced, said I would wait. I was told that wasn't possible. Was everyone standing around too busy?? I was tempted to leave when I noticed the Store Manager also standing up front. I asked him to make it right but he deferred to some mandate from above. After years in retail, this behavior does not compute. I literally could have walked out with the unmarked toy for free but tried to give them money, which was refused. What happened to, "The customer is always right"?? How is a store manager not empowered to sell a $5 item to please a customer? They should be embarrassed by the lack of service displayed here. We won't be back. read more

I was in yesterday and had a terrible shopping experience so I went to the manager and complained and she gave me $50 in coupons that work on anything in the store. She told me they are supposed to hand them out but nobody is supposed to know. $5 increments they remind me of the old McDonald's $5 coupons, lol. If you have any issue or are not happy with your shopping experience talk to a manager for these coupons. Don't let them to you they don't have them, they do. read more

Not local, but love a good thrift shop. Found some cute clothes, but not familiar with the brand's sizing. I asked about a fitting room, and was told, "Sorry we don't have one, but you can return them within fourteen days if they don't fit." Cool! No. The ACTUAL policy is EXCHANGE, not return. Had the staff not LIED about the policy, I wouldn't have purchased in the first place. Now I have to go try to find something else to spend the money on, even though the tags are on, I have the receipt, and paid cash. Once again, human incompetence ruins the day. read more

Great Wonderful I can not believe the difference 2 people made in my day on 10/28/25 I wanted to tell Value village but they have no place on their site to leave feed back. I have been going to Lacey V.V. approx. 5 years I have never been so impressed as I was in the housewares dept Spotless and EVERYTHING in order lined up where you could actually see everything. I was told That John was responsible for the condition. HUGE SHOUT-OUT to John. also Mike in the jewelry and other departments made me feel very welcome and human, something that does not happen very often in our new world. read more

Went in did our shopping, pick up quite a bit of stuff. Wife had an emergency and needed to use the restroom, we were told under no circmance could she use the restroom. Left my full cart right in the middle of the registers, and walked out the door never to return or donate again. read more

I entered this establishment with a group of my friends , we were innocently browsing around when we stumbled upon a pair of shoes my friend was interested. We went up to the register to pay when we were confronted by a large obese elderly lady who refused to allow us to pay , because the shoe was wrongly tagged as an "infant" shoe by an incompetent employee. It is not my fault that one of your workers cannot tag a pair of shoes properly. I'm not sure who she takes me as or whether she was having a bad day, but she uttered under her breath "Don't go tag swapping Infant shoes" as if it was my fault. Their prices are a joke -- I went there today, saw 2 small (4" diameter) basic clay pots for $8 EACH -- you can buy them new for less!! I was looking for a casserole dish or a ceramic mixing bowl -- ALL were $20+ (for USED items that were donated for free!) They're as bad as Goodwill, now. I can find items for WAY less on FB Marketplace -- have to drive sometimes to get them, but the prices are usually MUCH more reasonable -- especially for pre-owned items. Value Village has become a once trusted friend to a gouge the public business. It is nearly impossible to get assistance and the prices are ludicrous. In the past years I enjoyed shopping at various Value Village locations as I traveled. The store they have become does not need my business now. When I saw a watch priced at $399.00 I asked the person at the counter why it was so absurdly high in price. Her answer was indicative of the Value Village experience now. "Because I wanted it to be" was her reply. On several occasions I have requested to speak with a Manager with no luck. I left a card and asked to have the regional manager contact me on an issue, no reply. I have sent e-mails and made phone calls to their corporate office. No reply. My review is simple, if Value Village is looking for a formula to go out of business they have found it. read more

This is customer service in reverse. The Value Village website states that their mission is to "positively impact customers, donors, your community and the environment." Core Values state that they are supposed to: "- Act with ethics and integrity - Put donors and customers first" This is my experience with the employees, at Value Village on Sleater Kinney, who degrade the core values listed on the website. The first employee: I went into Value Village with a friend, and we were excited about our finds. We found what we were looking for and started to collect them to take to the front of the store. I saw an employee go into the back work area. As we were trying to get our cumbersome purchases from the back to the front of the store. The same person I had seen go into the back work area returned, walking past me as I struggled with the chair. I said "Can you help me?" and he kept on walking. Enter employee two: My friend and I managed to get to the jewelry counter hoping that we could get some help ringing up our finds. The employee in that section had an hostile, insolent manner and ignored us until, when asked for help, twice, she pointed and told us to go to self-checkout. She continued to lean against the wall. I then asked if we could get help to the self-checkout because we had already carried our burdens from the back to the front. This employee then stated, belligerently, that, next time, we should leave our big items in the back where someone would help us bring them up as she grudgingly carried one of the items. The employee from the jewelry section then told one of the employees standing around giggling and chatting with another two employees in the self-checkout area to help ring up my purchases. Enter Third Employee: When we asked the cashier if we could get help getting the items out to the vehicle we were dismissed by being told that we could move our vehicle up to the door and load our items one by one. (So much for help from the back, again). Then, the cashier left us so she could continue the previous unprofessional interactions with fellow employees. The employees grouped together watched with obvious amusement. As I left, I told the employees in front of the store that if they did not want to do their job they should let someone else have it, and I was met with "have a good day" and hateful laughter and contempt. Do not shop here. Do not donate here. The employees do not want your business. I have now looked on Yelp and found that this is the general consensus of recent reviews. Recap the management for value village fixed the issue and insured me this wouldn't happen again I walked into value Village at 6:43 PM and was turned away by the store manager Anthena. She gave me separate reasons why they close early even though the door displays 7 pm. She told me that they close early get people out of the store by 7pm. Then she told me that she thinks 30 people are in the store shopping but they allow up to 40. Then she told me that it's so they can clean the store For then next day. I love shopping at value village and it's not fair for customers to drive from far away just to get turned away because the store decided they want to close early. She also told me that this was corporate's decision to close before the advertised time. Why would corporate put on their door that they close at 7 PM but not allow people to come in 15 to 17 minutes before closing time? Hopefully corporate realizes this is an issue and sees the unfairness of turning customers away when they got to their stores before the store closed as advertised on their doors and online. read more

I recently moved back to Olympia. This Value Village used to be a weekly stop for me. I've donated hundred of dollars worth of household goods over the years. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I had my father with me today. He is a 94 y/o WWII vet. He suddenly urgently needed to use the toilet. When I asked the manager, she initially stated they no longer have public toilets. After explaining the urgency, she said she would make an exception for my dad. She told me to tell the staff in the back exactly that. I went to the back, rang the doorbell and waited...and waited...and waited. I could hear someone back there so I rang again. No response. After looking at my father's panicked expression, I stepped into the back and called out. A make voice impatiently yelled back that he would be there in a minute. Several minutes later, an irritated looking man rudely asked what I wanted. When I attempted to explain that the manager had told me to ask him to let my father use the toilet, he snapped at me and said he couldn't open it. He continued to speak angrily to me as I turned to my dad and said we had to go. I was surprised at how rude he was! I will never go back into or donate to this store again! read more

This place is better than Goodwill because they're larger so they have more inventory but have space to spread it out. Came here to buy a scrapbook because my mom came back from a cruise and wanted to put her tickets, brochures, maps, pictures, and other pocket litter together and she bought one where you slip things in sleeves and it looked like hell, lol. So I bought the type that has a D ring so you could fill it up with as many pages as you want, along with the pages that are thick and have adhesive on it so things stay in place. Sure, I could have bought a new one at Hobby Lobby or Michael's for $40 bucks plus another $20 for extra pages, but why not buy the same thing for $4 at Value Village. Because one man's trash is another man's treasure, we found a gorgeous, unused scrapbook with D-Rings and it looks so much better than the one my mom paid full price elsewhere. That is the reason to go to thrift stores. Does it suck that they are all for-profit organizations at this point. Sure it does, but it's keeping perfectly good items out of landfills and giving items a second life. I go there for office supplies, DVD's clothes, and sometimes organizers and that is a perfect use for this type of store. Plus I love how they have sanitizing pumps at every cash register that is not just for the employers, but also the customers. Thank you, thank you for that. read more

The men and women who work at value village that are cashiers deserve to be paid more than minimum wage. They are constantly disrespected and degraded by customers, only to be not taken seriously by their own corporate manager who works there. If I could give their staff 5 stars, I would. However, Value Village is a dishonest company. You may feel like you're doing a good thing here by donating to them, but you're better off dropping your stuff off at a local homeless shelter. They do not do vouchers for the homeless, they are not a non-profit. They barely do any community charity work. And when they do, a very small portion of their profits go to that charity. Their "recycled clothing" isn't going into use because they still profit off of sweatshops in china and pakistan with their virgin, brand new christmas and halloween clothing made with brand new materials. If you take your kids to get brand new costumes here, I hope you take pride in the fact that your child is wearing an outfit that a 10 year old probably sewed for 4 cents an hour in a dangerous factory in china. this is a dishonest corporation who doesn't care about bettering your community, they care about filling their pockets with your money and your donations. The corporate manager definitely has that attitude and you can clearly tell just by watching the way he treats his young workers. Make Value Village your last stop when shopping. Do not donate here. The 3 stars go to the employees working here, which is a massive store that is surprisingly very organized and clean for its size and amount of items. Not getting 5 stars because there seems to be high turnover and I bet that if the employees were paid $20/hr and given a good benefits package, the public wouldn't have to watch Value Village churning through employees because it wouldn't happen. Many folks coming to this store are locals/regulars and when we watch this incredible turnover happening, we know the problem is you. It looks really, really bad. When you donate something here, the employees (I strongly suspect) are directed to say, "on behalf of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, thank you for your donation." Remember that Value Village in WA state was sued by the attorney general in 2017 for misleading the public; very little of anything goes to charity. So, how about stop doing that, and pay your workers instead? read more

I love coming here when I'm in the mood to thrift. The staff are usually friendly and the store is very organized. I mostly come for children's books for my son. I love that it's a set price at $1.29 a book, and if you buy 4 books, you get 1 free. Stack that with a colored 50% off tag and you can get a TON of good condition books for a steal! (Way cheaper and better quality than Goodwill). I'm giving them 4 stars because some things are definitely high priced, and there should be a good mix of items for the 50% off sale each week. For example, I came when 50% off were yellow tags and the whole store had tons of yellow tag items (especially the children's books). Today, it was green tags and it was hard finding green tags in the store :/ But I would still come back here until we move! Love Value Village! read more

First of all I want to say that this is actually my favorite Value Village in the whole country. This review is for the current store manager who gave her name as Alex Underwood. I came here almost every week when I lived in Olympia and now that I live in Seattle I come every time we're in town. Today a basket that was apparently not priced was taken from my partner with no explanation and the employee who took it simply walked away. When my partner exclaimed about what was going on, and asked if she could be told about why an item was literally taken from her hands the employee just said "no". After following the employee around asking why the basket was taken out of her hands finally we were given an explanation which was that since it wasn't priced we couldn't buy it. We asked if the basket could get priced by a manager as we were in from out of town and the employee identified herself as the manager and said "no". We asked if the basket could be held until it was priced and again all she said was "no". Her tone and facial expressions throughout this interaction were patronizing, belittling, and smirking. Now, I understand this is Value Village's policy, to not sell things that are not priced, but this girl's attitude towards us was abominable. She treated us like dirt, like thieves, like we were some scum that she was being forced to interact with against her will. Listen kid, it's literally YOUR JOB to manage the store and explain to customers what's going on while upholding store policies. To have something torn from your hands and given no explanation and then to be communicated with in a demeaning, childish, ignorant, besmirching manner was absolutely intolerable and is unacceptable regardless of the store policy. A manager ought to be someone who is calm under pressure, who is kind to both employees and customers, who has quick thinking and problem solving skills. Alex Underwood, the manager at this store, is none of these things. She is a childish wretch high off the "power" of her position with no regard for the reputation of her store or the company. When informed that we would be filing a complaint with her supervisor, her response was, "good". That's the kind of person Alex Underwood is. read more

I used to really enjoy Lacey VV for their overall variety and quantity of items and geniunely being what my idea of a thrift store should be. My feelings have changed somewhat since I feel they've reduced the frequency of half off days, the staff isn't as friendly at times, and the selection has been reduced in a few depts. The also have raised prices, probably from the price of gas. If I wanted to pay reg retail price for clothes I would go to Kohls or Sears and purchase them new. I still can find a deal, I just have to have the patience to sift through all the higher priced items. read more

They probably have what ever your looking for or not lol. They have great employees that are always happy to help with there friendly attitudes and smiles you always feel welcome. The only thing I would probably complain about is the prices are a little high for a thrift store. I have been to some of the other locations and there prices are so low its great. But they also don't have as much as our location. Overall I love this place it's my favorite place to shop. I wish they would extend there hours that would be amazing so I could shop longer. read more
