Wow, I am in shock that I did not review this salon sooner! Bijou was probably one of my greatest discoveries to date in the Syracuse area. I am a curly haired gal and- let me tell you- I have experienced some pretty awful haircuts in Upstate New York. Lots of places advertise curly cuts, "devacuts", yaddah yaddah- but they truly have no idea what they are doing. I can't tell you how many times I have had to go to NYC for rescue haircuts. ENTER JOLENE AND BIJOU.... if you want a great curly cut, this is where you should be going. Jolene is a genius- she truly understand the dynamic nature of curls and takes her time getting a lay of the "curl land" before she starts snipping. She starts with a dry cut to make sure she doesn't take too much... then she proceeds with the wash and dry process... and then- the grand finale- more styling at the end. She cut my hair before my wedding last July- it was perfect. And she just rejuvenated my mop of hair again today. I find the prices to be very, very fair. As an aside, everyone wears masks at the salon, and they check your temp and employ mandatory hand washing when you first walk in. If you have curly hair and are living in upstate New York/Syracuse, you must try this place. read more

As a blonde I am super skeptical about who I go to. Just recently moved to the area and saw many great reviews of Paige and decided to book with her. SO glad I did! From the color, the cut to the company she was a great hairstylist and I would 100% recommend her to anyone. She was so polite and personal and did a great job with blending my roots out. On top of it the salon was up to date, VERY clean and a great relaxing atmosphere. Go here! read more

BEWARE!!! I called twice for quotes on a hair color for my daughter, and twice was quoted the same quote. However, when my daughter got up to the register the price was OVER twice the quote! When I called the owner about it, complaining that my daughter was never told of all the additional costs, the owner was rude, condescending, and passive aggressive, and did not refund anything, claiming they never quoted me what they quoted me, TWICE. Be aware of their added costs, like mixing up extra hair dye and using a toner etc. How they came up with more than double, I'll never know. They wouldn't provide me with an itemized breakdown of the bill either. BEWARE!! read more

Paige did an amazing job on my blonde balayage and cut! She was very thoughtful and took the time to understand what I was looking for. She made sure to apply a warm toner which gave me the color I wanted. I am very happy with the result! I got my hair and makeup done here for my friend's wedding and I was very impressed by Steph, my stylist. I never get dolled up but now I want to every day! Steph is very talented and fun to talk to. She also styled the bride and she looked gorgeous. I highly recommend this place. One tip: if you want anything done on the weekend, book early because they are always so busy, especially with weddings in the summer. read more

My wedding day was perfect - except for my hair and make up. Having my hair and make up done at this salon is truly the only thing I would change about the entire wedding day. Thankfully I was able to go back to my hotel room and redo my make up, however there wasn't time to redo my hair. When I returned home and showed the pictures to my hairstylist, she was mortified ... my hair did not look anything like what I had requested. Truly amateur work. I do not like leaving negative reviews, however if I can prevent somebody else from choosing the wrong hair salon for her wedding day, it's a necessary review. read more

The first time I have been here I had an hairdresser stylist that did not work very well on my hair. After my negative review, the owner invited me to come again to try another hairstilist. I accepted her invite despite I was a little bit skeptical. Well, I was wrong, because the second time an hair stylist (her name is Taylor Ely) did a wonderful job on my hair! She fixed all the mistakes the other one made, and she nailed perfectly what I asked for. She has been very professional, and the best hair stylist that I met in the USA. The owner called me concerning my cut! And she was truly worried about my experience and wanted to fix the problem. When I came in she was warm and inviting and really wanted to address the problem and fixed it immediately! She re established my confidence in the salon and her stylist. Bijou Boutique and Salon is fantastic! I just went there for my wedding - we had mani/pedi's on the day before and hair/makeup on the wedding day. The girls were amazing. I had to coordinate appointments for over 20 people and Andrea at the front desk was so helpful! The salon is super cute - the decor is both cozy and fun! They allowed us to bring in lunch/snacks and beverages while we chatted and even had herbal teas to sip on while getting our hair done. Kim did both my hair and makeup and she was absolutely fabulous! She listened to exactly what I wanted and made it work! I was so happy with the way everything turned out. I couldn't recommend this salon more - they are wonderful and helped to make my wedding weekend perfect! read more

The hair stylists don't follow up on left messages/emails before hair appointments. For some of us, each hair cut/process (esp Deva cuts) is a big deal that we'd like to discuss beforehand, even if it is on the phone on through email with pics attached. The receptionist couldn't help me, but allowed me to email pics and a question to the salon inbox. I called and left a message 3 days later. No response either time. read more

Excellent cut, fabulous color, beautiful salon, nice people, reasonable prices (and I'm picky)! I recently moved to the area from Philadelphia, where I went to one of the top stylists (as rated by Allure magazine), so I'm used to the best. Christina from Bijou gave me a WONDERFUL cut. My hair is shaped to make my round face look oval, and hair is layered such that it is not too flat and not too puffy (both of which can happen if my hair is cut wrongly). Also, the colors she used look beautiful with my skin, but are still super-fun and different (I'm an artist, so I need a little zip). :) I have thick, straight hair in a non-course texture, long and died a couple shades of red. The salon is beautifully decorated and environment is clean and comfortable, with customers of all ages there the day I was in. In my opinion, all the stylists I saw had good cuts in current styles. I'm so very relieved to find such a great experience in a small town! Christina is young, but don't let the age fool you, she REALLY knows what she's doing.
