She had been thinking of chopping her hair off for a long time and it was a big risk to come into this unknown salon for a last minute appointment to do the deed, but the stars lined up. I was so impressed with Lana's attention to detail, and how thoughtfully she styled my daughter's fine hair in a way that would still reflect the punky look that she wanted but would also work naturally for her hair type. Lana also carefully considered how it would grow in over time. My daughter walked out looking like a magazine model, and could not be happier. Brooke did my eyebrows and lip wax. It was very relaxing, and she paid super attention to detail. I am very happy with the result.

I went to Brittany last summer to try a new style that I was nervous about- and she did fantastic! She even came in early to fit me in before I went home to Florida. A few months later I went to a salon in Orlando for a trim and they butchered my hair. I haven't had anyone touch it since until today when I was visiting family and Brittany was able to fit me into her day. I could cry I am so happy! It took about six months for my hair to grow back in (the FL stylist cut it that short via multiple mess ups) and she was able to fix it for me. She not only knows what she is doing, but she knows what is flattering for you personally. So important when it comes to a hair stylist! The atmosphere is welcoming and you can tell they really care about their clients. If I could get them to move to Orlando, that would be awesome! But until I find someone I can trust there- my haircuts will wait for trips to Syracuse I love this place (and Brittany!) that much.

I asked if the mistake could have been made on their end, because I had the appointment on my calendar for weeks and remember making it. The other person was not there. They made me wait for 20 minutes, not telling me whether or not they would take me, just saying, "You're not in the book." Meanwhile, the other person did not show up and did not answer their phone when they called her. I told the receptionist I was starting to get frustrated with the situation, because I know I'd made the appointment. After 20 minutes the stylist came out and said that she would not take me because I'd been rude to the receptionist. I was in disbelief and asked her, "Chelsea, Are you really not going to take me? This mistake must have been on your end, and I've been looking forward to this appointment for weeks". She merely told me that her "heart was racing and it wasn't good for her so I'd have to reschedule" Never in our interaction did they acknowledge that the mistake could have been on their end, and they treated me horribly. I'm 72 years old and have never been accused of being rude by a shop in my life. Bijou has no idea how to treat their customers. Their arrogance is beyond belief.

I am a curly haired gal and- let me tell you- I have experienced some pretty awful haircuts in Upstate New York. Lots of places advertise curly cuts, "devacuts", yaddah yaddah- but they truly have no idea what they are doing. I can't tell you how many times I have had to go to NYC for rescue haircuts. ENTER JOLENE AND BIJOU.... if you want a great curly cut, this is where you should be going. Jolene is a genius- she truly understand the dynamic nature of curls and takes her time getting a lay of the "curl land" before she starts snipping. She starts with a dry cut to make sure she doesn't take too much... then she proceeds with the wash and dry process... and then- the grand finale- more styling at the end. She cut my hair before my wedding last July- it was perfect. And she just rejuvenated my mop of hair again today. I find the prices to be very, very fair. As an aside, everyone wears masks at the salon, and they check your temp and employ mandatory hand washing when you first walk in. If you have curly hair and are living in upstate New York/Syracuse, you must try this place.

I don't know how much they normally charge, but at the event it was about $15. It was super quick -- about 15 minutes tops, probably less. They were stocked with multiple color options -- I went with a chrome for a more subtle touch. The stylist told me they can last months if you're gentle with them, but I'm not fairly rough on my hair, lol. Still, a few weeks later most are still in. Throughout the evening some of the salon stylists were popping around to talk about their full services and literally all of the ladies were super sweet and friendly. Also love that they have juices and healthy foods -- I think they provided the tea and acai on the distillery menu that night. Seems like a great space -- heads up that they do hair tinsels if you're looking for someone who offers it! Even though it's a bit of a hike for me, the staff was so sweet that I'd consider making the drive if I needed services.

It was too short. I even asked how much experience she had and I was told she had been doing it 25 years. Wow. I'm not sure what happened. The final straw was when I was leaving she said I owed her $35.00. Not the agreed upon price. I reminded her of the arrangement discussed. Donna complied with hesitation. I gave her $30.00. More than fair I felt. I was told next time it would be $35.00 (plus a tip of course). No worries, I won't be back. Reminder, there was no wash or blow out. Overall I didn't feel listened to. My suggestion to Donna is more listening and less talking by the stylist about everything but what I wanted. I am not looking for a new friend, I just wanted a hair cut similar to my request. Final thought, she recommended getting a trim every three weeks. I am not made of money, I am on disability and that is a silly recommendation Especially after I told you I am Lucky to go every eight weeks. She was trying to push for a follow up.
