I at first loved BikeLink. The whole concept is great and convenient. And the first incident I encountered with my account being blocked was resolved quickly even though technically I was in the wrong. I had lost my card and did not report it because I use the app so it was no big deal to me. Then someone found and used my card, to store bags. Got caught and the police got involved for some reason. But in the end the unblocked my account and even gave me $20 credit. Then a few months later a bike locker next to mine had an "attempted bike theft" and they blocked my account again. A bike locker I use in Pittsburg had the door broken and was not closing, there was the locker next to it working so I used it. I do not recall seeing a bike in the locker with the broken door. But I was able to rent it in an attempt to close the door. The door was totally busted. So I rented the one next to it instead. Went about my business and a few days later tried to use a locker at Mac Arthur and could not. My account was blocked. I called and they basically accused me of being a thief, in an incident at Pittsburg with an attempted bike theft. I asked for a police report so I could clear my name, they would not provide me any more info and blocked my emails and phone calls. The amount of lockers I encountered DAILY with broken doors that are noticeably damaged from being forced open should not just be ignored by them. They should fix them. The locker that I use regularly had this issue so I used the one next to it. Then I am accused of "an attempted theft"? In many other locations I usually used the same locker. sometimes doors would be open but I could still start my rental and close the door no problem. The fact that their refusal to even allow me to clear my name is beyond upsetting. Is this a police report? Have I been accused by police... brought into no. But according to BikeLink I have been blocked for this crime. So they considered it a second incident with my account and wouldn't even hear me out or allow me to attempt to clear my name of what I assume police activity had been part of. I had to find out on my own that no police report had been made for this "attempted bike theft." I assume the owner of this bike called BikeLink about the broken into locker but I honestly do not know how I could be brought into it. It's not right of them to block me and slander my name. I am so disgusted with this company for how they maintain the condition of their lockers. They are filthy, smell like urine. The bikes are not secure. Had a $4500 bike I thought was safe which was stolen from a Bikelink. I had it parked there for 3 hours in the Berkeley Amtrak. Bikelink's user agreement absolves them of responsibility and they do not have insurance. read more

Terrible customer service. I needed to lock up my bike at Downtown Berkeley BART but apparently the Bike Link card I had for 3 months and stowed carefully in my wallet to protect the chip is so delicate that it somehow became scratched. I called customer service, which was a waste of time. I was on hold for almost 10 minutes and had to talk to three different people only to be told they could not help me. Oh, really? So what happens when someone's bike gets stuck *inside* when the chip fails? I was told I could buy a new card at the neighboring Bike Hub ... only problem is that they are closed today for the holiday. Bike Link needs to upgrade its reader system and customer service experience if they want to retain users. Update: Their FAQ's page also states that a balance can not be transferred from a damaged card. Seriously? You can't keep track of balances? Pitiful. I had barely used my card so I probably had $18 of the original $20 value on there. NO WAY would I throw away another $20 when you put all the risk on the users instead of having a flexible system that does not penalize the user for your poor technology choices. read more

Constant problems with Bikeline, in my experience. The system is very difficult to use, and as others have pointed out, the screens are hard to read. The concept is great, but the company's technology just isn't strong enough. I had quite a bit of money on my card, went to use it at a site with a number of boxes that were out of service and I tried it on several other boxes that would not open, then the message I got was that the card would no longer work as I had tried too many times. I was in a place, as well as running to catch transportation, that I could not safely call in to troubleshoot right away. Today the company tells me by phone, too bad, we can't do anything about your card nor refund your money. You're out over $20 and there is absolutely nothing we will do to help you. I don't have money to waste on a system that is this unreliable, and eats my money, too. Updating: wrote to Bikelink and got a response that my card has been fixed and the call center folks notified that there is a way to fix the card without calling in as soon as the problem takes place, when they can try to walk you through trouble-shooting at the site. They also said they sent technicians to fix the boxes at the site where I had the problems. Won't know until I try my card again whether it's truly working again but hopeful. read more

I park my bicyle at BikeLink facilities from Monday to Friday, from 3PM to 6AM in San Francisco, CA. When I park here, I have no worries. . This is the safest place I have found to park my bike. They have locations all over the Greater Bay Area. Once you sign up and get an ID card, you'll be a happy biker. Their support staff is very responsive. I have searched as hard as I could for past thefts. I found one from 9 years ago at an eLocker and 8 months ago at a Group Parking. I'm sure there's more, but probably not many. The operations of each site depend on who runs it. Per BikeLink, they make, install, and operate the system. Their lockers are purchased either by public agencies (i.e. City Governments or Transit Agencies) or private entities, and they decide when and where their lockers are installed. I have been parking my bike at BikeLink's Group Parking since March 2019 at BART Embarcader. I have also used their eLocker cages at BART West Dublin and currently at their eLocker cages next to BART Powell St Station. read more

Excellent and safe way to lock up your bicycle. And inexpensive. It's only like $.15 per hour to lock up. Many areas in the Bay Area to lock up. I have certainly been riding more often now that I have learned about this way to lock up my bike. read more

It's a decent service, until you voice a concern or complaint... you get lengthy, windy arguments about why your concern or complaint is worthless. P.S. Fix the screens at the Davis lockers. VERY HARD TO READ WITH ALL SUNLIGHT AND NO LIGHTED SCREEN. A simple idea, long overdue. With BikeLink, you can ride your bike to a station or city center, lock it up---and return to it, with your seat, headlight, and both your wheels intact. For those of us commuting in vandal-thick regions such as downtown Oakland (I had my cheap foam *handlebar grips* stolen from my bike in front of the Main Library. Is there any petty crime more pathetic?), BikeLink removes our reasonable anxiety about parking our bikes away from our constant surveillance. Unlike the BART locker program, you don't have to reserve a locker; you just show up at the few places where BikeLink is installed, insert your smart card, and, for really just pennies, lock your bike in an easy-to-use mesh locker. The only complaint I have isn't really BikeLink's fault. It turns out that a bunch of morons regularly U-lock their bicycles at the 19th Street BART station on the railing just in front of the BikeLink locker doors. Don't be surprised to return to your locker and find some idiot has blocked your locker door. According to BikeLink, BART required the lockers placed here in such a way that exposes some kind of lighting panel, and also the railing these jerks are using. I leave it up to you if you want to feel bad for bending somebody's wheel in the effort to retrieve your bike from the locker. read more

I got my new BikeLink card in the mail over the weekend. This morning (Monday) I tried to use it for the first time, but there was a glitch and I couldn't use the lockers. I emailed BikeLink via their website, and within an hour I had a phone call and email. They met me at 7:30 pm tonight (at my convenience) at the BART station to take my bad card and hand-deliver me a new card. They told me that they'll have their engineers take a look at my bad card... I guess glitches can happen. So, for problem resolution I give them an A++. (During this process I spoke/met with 3 different people, and they were all very helpful and nice.) For about $0.03 and hour for secure bike parking you can't beat the price, either. read more

FINALLY, finally finallllyyy I don't have to worry about getting my bike stolen, be it at 2am at night or 10am in the morning (for serious, people- why are you stealing parts in broad daylight?! ...or at all. sigh.). Surprisingly, there are lots of lockers already installed at many, many BART stations, and it's so cheap that my inner (and outer) Asian doesn't shudder with fury at the thought. I love, love, love the fact that I can get any hours I didn't spend refunded on the card, so I always just put 20 hours when I first lock my bike, knowing that I won't be paying for all 20 hours' worth. I giggled like a little girl (hey, I'm a WOMAN, now.) when I finally got my BikeLink card in the mail. It's so pretty that I nearly always get it mixed up with my SFMOMA card. The BF 'scouted' out the practice by stealthily spying on people using the lockers for a few days to figure out how often the lockers are free and how to use them, but...you can just watch the how-to videos on their website. I think, for the most part, they've got the right amount of lockers for every location. read more

What a great idea and what better place to apply this system than right here in the bay area. It's so nice to know that there are convenient areas to safely and securely leave your precious bike without having to worry if you're going to come back and find your bike just as you left it. As someone who has had their bike stole before (damn thieves!), i'm always extra wary of where I park my bike. But with the bikelink facilities and lockers placed at a lot of convenient BART locations, I feel pretty confident that my bike is safe and won't be tampered with. I absolutely love the fact that Bike Link exists! After having had my bike parts stolen about five times in 1 year, I decided to invest in the BikeLink card. On top of the bike lockers though, I LOVE the service! Once when the card reader wasn't working, I called in, frantically trying to get my bike out to get home and pick up my child from daycare. They very quickly walked me through it and released my bike--with proper proof. A great service to our community! read more

The good, the bad, the good, the bad, the good... Useful, but supplanting a prior era and cause??? Ok, so Bikelink - storage lockers at transit centers and other business locations- is still inexpensive, so this is good. I was mad when it was first put in because there used to be absolutely free watched parking in the Berkeley BART station and I think at Fruitvale?? So I was mad when it turned into a payment scam. However once I used it and realized how cheap it is, really only cents per day, I was somewhat neutralized about it. Plus there are more locations than just two BART stations, i.e. San Francisco, most BART stations and some other locations as well. And I was happy that you can retrieve your bike at any hour of the night or early morning, because it is dependent upon your card and not an attendant. read more

Absolutely amazing. I have been using BikeLink for a year or so and so wanted to thank you for creating such a wonderful service. I bike everyday to BART, park my bike at BART and then go to downtown. Two way ride is 4 miles biking and I love it. Today I lost my card and was initially disappointed that the value cannot be restored. However after reading this line from the FAQ, it completely makes sense. "if you lose your card the value is also lost. The value is stored on the card itself, not on a network. This helps us to keep prices low." I have been using BikeLink for months (at the MacArthur BART station) and there has always been an open locker, I have never had anything stolen, and I've paid an incredibly reasonable amount. Being a tiny woman with a boyfriend from NYC who always had me carry around a 15 lb kryptonite chain with a huge padlock on it, my shoulders are also thankful for these lockers. I am so impressed by BikeLink and their entire operation, which makes it easy for me to travel from BART stations throughout the Bay Area. However for the really cheap price to park my bike I did not expect the level of service that I received. At almost 1 am I wasn't able to to get my bike out of a locker. I was able to call support and not only did they were able to get the door open so that I can get my bike, they also replaced my card with a new one on a Sunday! I can't think of many places that even open on Sunday. I was already happy with the service but that experience has made me a customer for a long time! read more

Had some issues with reloading my BikeLink card - I guess I wasn't really sure about the process or what steps to follow (I know, I know... I should know this as I agree to the contract... blah, blah, blah... well, I didn't know so I called BikeLink for assistance - get off my back!) -- But I digress - Just had an opportunity to work with Hanna (I believe that was her name) who assisted me with several questions I had about the card reloading process. Hanna was fantastic!!! very helpful, very informative, and very patient. I learn that we have several options to reload the card - on-line, by phone, and that in the future they will be offering the auto load features for credit and debit cards... In any case, I had a great experience with Hanna. I love BikeLink - what a great service! and the people that work there are truly very nice. read more

This service is awesome!!! It costs me less than $6 to safely park my bike each month at the Bart. I no longer need to carry my cumbersome and heavy lockers with me. My brand new bike doesn't get stolen or vandalized, it barely gets wet when it rains, and my helmet never gets peed in. It's easy to charge and recharge the BikeLink card. Whenever there is a problem, there's always a helpful person available to speak to. I love BikeLink! read more

Customer service is awesome!! A couple of weeks ago, I leave my office in SF and arrive at the El Cerrito Bart to find out I forgot my Bikelink card! Furthermore, it was almost 7pm on a Friday night, I just wanted to go home! Thankfully, Bikelink was still open ( I think they are 24/7), and they were able to remotely walk me through opening my bike locker with a special one time use code. So relieved, such a good deal at 3 cents an hour, which is well worth the piece of mind of having all your wheels and seat still on your bike when you return. read more
