She explained the paperwork and prep, and got me ready for the procedures, then did her part to assist Dr. Gomes. She also helped by reminding me to relax and breathe during the work, since I sometimes get nervous and tense up. It sounds like a small thing, but it shows she was paying attention to my status as well as the doctor's instructions, and finding ways to make things go more smoothly. Dr. Gomes even called me personally the night after my morning procedure, to check on me. She didn't just tell me to call her if I had problems. She contacted me to find out how I was doing, firsthand. I haven't had a dentist do that before, but I later found out that Dr. Gomes does that for every patient who has an extraction. Overall, I feel like I got and am getting the best possible dental care I can get from Dr Gomes and her staff. And I also feel like I got that for a fair and reasonable price. Since those two things don't always go together, Stencil Dental is really something special. I am new to the area and hadn't found a local dentist yet - but now I have. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Aquidneck Dental still gets a 5 star rating from me BUT Dr Ruel gets a 0 rating!…read more Disappointing Denture Relining Experience with Dr. Ruel I had a highly unsatisfactory experience with Dr. Ruel at Aquidneck Dental in Portsmouth for a hard relining of my dentures, which cost $1,600. My upper denture was initially comfortable, with only a minor thin spot prompting the relining, but my lower denture was problematic, requiring denture adhesive before meals and still becoming loose during eating. Dr. Ruel, nearing retirement and working only one day a week, scheduled my impressions for the following week, promising a next-day turnaround. However, when I called to confirm post-relining care for potential sore spots, the office assured me Dr. Ruel would be available. Upon dropping off my dentures, he then informed me they would take a week, contradicting his earlier promise. After I reminded him of his initial claim, he made a brief call to the lab and stated they could deliver the next day. I suspect he was reluctant to come in on his day off, leaving me without dentures for longer than expected. When I received my dentures, the upper plate was uncomfortably tight, and the lower plate felt unchanged, as if no work had been done. After pointing this out, Dr. Ruel reduced the charge to $800 and offered an immediate soft relining. Unfortunately, the soft relining was poorly executed: the lower plate had untrimmed excess material and there are sharp edges on the outer teeth, while the upper plate's roof lining felt like sandpaper, causing significant soreness in the roof of my mouth. I had to return multiple times, waiting a week between appointments, to address persistent sore spots and problems. The teeth still feel unpolished and rough. Now, my upper denture requires adhesive to stay in place--unlike before--and moves when chewing tougher foods like steak. The lower denture is so loose that I need to re-apply adhesive multiple times during a single meal. Overall, my dentures are in worse condition than before, and I'm don't think they can be fixed. I strongly advise against seeing Dr. Ruel, who has since relocated to Tiverton. This review pertains solely to Dr. Ruel's service, not the other excellent dentists at Aquidneck Dental in Portsmouth.

I had my first cleaning with Karen at 508 Dentist in Swansea, MA, this week. The office is bright,…read moreclean, and inviting, with its own coffee and drink bar. Mr. A at the reception greeted me and checked me in when I arrived. I waited no more than 10 minutes before Karen called me in and showed me to her station. Her station was clean, bright, and stocked with all new, state-of-the-art dental equipment. Before I sat in the chair, we discussed my dental file, which my previous dentist had sent over, along with some dental history. She listened carefully and was aware of my terrible fear of the dentist from a horrible childhood experience. When I sat down, Karen explained what she was going to do and made sure I was comfortable with everything. She started with a complete set of new dental X-rays. She worked quickly and efficiently, knowing that bitewing X-rays are uncomfortable. I usually get my teeth cleaned twice a year without fail, but because of a cracked tooth, it had been almost a year since my last cleaning. Next, she cleaned my teeth, removing some plaque buildup in a few spots. Karen worked very carefully to remove all the plaque without me feeling any scraping, gum pricking, bleeding, or discomfort. She regularly checked if I was OK and occasionally asked questions about specific teeth, which no hygienist had ever done before. To me, this showed she was paying close attention to each tooth and thoroughly checking it while cleaning before moving on. She wasn't just doing a routine cleaning to get me out the door and the next patient in her chair; she genuinely cared about the quality of her work. I really appreciated this level of dental care. When it was time to polish my teeth, Karen held the suction tube herself while she polished, instead of hooking it onto my bottom lip like other hygienists have done, or pulling at my lips to access my teeth. I never felt the suction tube in my mouth, and my mouth never filled with plaque, fluid, or gritty paste. I didn't have to rinse my mouth during or after the cleaning, and no gritty residue was left when Karen finished. Usually, I have to rinse multiple times to get the paste out, which often stays in my mouth until I drink something afterward. This was the best dental cleaning I have ever had. Before leaving the office, Mr. A scheduled my next cleaning with Karen. I highly recommend Karen for your cleanings and 508 Dental in Swansea, MA, for all your dental needs. DMV

Referred by an extremely reliable source, I made my first appointment with Dr.Buxton's practice just over one year ago. Every interaction since has been smooth sailing (I actually look FORWARD to my visits!). *Kind front desk attendant/scheduler - always remembers my name and does her darnedest to find the right appointment for my finicky schedule. *Friendly and comfort-conscious dental hygienists (I usually see Leah - she's thorough and takes the time to explain exactly what's going on in and around those gums!). *And, of course, the calming doctor, himself. At my last visit I mentioned some discomfort that I was having with a crown applied years ago by another dentist. It hurt to bite/chew and I was worried something might be wrong under the dome, so he took a peek to check where my bite was coming together. Low and behold, the tooth needed to be filed down a little on one side - he fit me in directly after my hygiene appointment. I've been pain-free ever since!
