PLEASE TAKE NOTE. most of the ratings here are very, very old. I reached out to Bill and initially…read morehe gave me a quote. After giving the quote, he came back, and we discussed that my husband said we wanted to pay with a credit card. In Bills' words, "I really want this job so I can make that work." Once I heard that, I felt for him, and wanted to give him the job because he seemed like a hardworking man.
He initially said he would start on Thursday, and after 2 prep days, he would be able to finish within 4 days the following week. Well, Bill showed up late Thursday and did some work, and then did not show up at all on Friday. When I called him, he said he was with his daughter, and he decided it would be better to just start next week altogether. I was annoyed but felt it wasn't that big a deal.
Bill said he would move back all the furniture so that we could live in our house at night, but my husband got home Monday and he had to move everything around. Bill was surprised that I was unhappy, blaming his "workers" (although when I was home I NEVER saw anyone aside from him working) and said it wouldn't happen again.
Then, to no one's surprise, by Thursday, the work was not nearly done. On Friday I worked from home, and Bill arrive at 10am. He was beyond rude to our electrician (who I have NO complaints about), and at 3pm he wrapped up (a 5 hour work day), saying he needed at least 2 more days to do the work, and that he wanted to come back Sunday (the only day my husband had off). When I told him I didn't think that would work (because my husband only has one day off a week..), Bill stormed off. We texted him and told him he could come back Sunday, because we wanted to ameliorate the situation.
Bill finally came back the following Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to finish the work. I had a list of items Bill needed to do that was left for him. He claimed he did them, and took our check. He did not. I will attach pictures if possible. He left our doorbell without a cover (we still cannot find it), two vents without covers, he did not paint behind the fridge or our wine fridge, and did not paint the extra high ceilings that were difficult.
Bill has the ability to be a great painter, if he doesn't take shortcuts and half ass it. It's obvious he just wanted to get out of our house and took advantage of the fact that my husband left a check before the work was completed. I spoke to our lawyer who said it wasn't worth it to press charges, but it angers me to my core that this man, who I wanted to help because I thought he needed money, took advantage of a young couple. BUYER BEWARE. If you hire him, you must babysit him.
