This place is awesome! It's a ways out for us (we're city folks from West Miramar) so we had to drive for a little over an hour but it's truly worth it! The staff are friendly and well-informed and the landscape is gorgeous. It's uncanny that land like this, untouched, exists in South Florida!! The wildlife are calm and serene and you can tell they are well-cared for. The airboat ride is both educational and fun (my 8 year old said it was his favorite part) and the buggy ride is bumpy but allows you to see an entirely different part of the land. The Snake show was interesting, learned about venomous snakes native to Florida, and saw them as they were being handled too! The Critters show was both interactive and fun (I held a baby alligator, petted a skunk and fed a deer). Kids and adults both will enjoy this place!! read more

**Groupon has a discount for tickets. If you are looking to do something off the beaten path, or to experience old Florida... this is a good place to head out to. I'm partial to the Everglades and river of grass since I grew up down here and remember the old days when there wasn't so many buildings. I recommend heading out early to Billie Swamp so you can take your time and enjoy each detail. To get there, you basically fill up your gas tank, and head West on alligator alley if you are coming from the east, or head east if you are coming from the west such as Naples. The exit is definitely closer to the east (Fort Lauderdale side). When you get off the exit with the huge sign directing you for Billie Swamp as well as the last stop for gas, check out the canal aka large pond on your right side. Usually there is a extremely large beautiful alligator in there. Easily a 14 foot well fed Gator to be a matter of fact. If he isn't there, don't worry you will see plenty of gators on the way out to Billie Swamp. Just pay attention to the canals on the winding snake road as you drive out to Billies 2200 acres. Billie Swamp is names after a Seminole Indian woman named "Billie". She stood up to the soldiers during the Seminole was. Just before you make a quick left following the sign telling you Billie swamp is around the corner, there is a yellow building on your right called Sweet Tooth. If you are lucky it will be open. Swing in there, they great ice cream! If you rather continue to Billie Swamp, don't worry they have the Swamp Cafe which opens at 7am. The park is open at 9am, and the airboat and swamp buggy tours start at 10am. You want to spend the weekend out there, they have chickees that you can stay in either on the waterfront, as a couple or a large one for a group. There is no electricity, so bring your flashlights, towels and an open mind. They also have a night tour too if you are staying out there. The airboat tour is short. Only 20 minutes, wish it were longer. The buggy tour is an hour. I can go on and on, however just go check it out! Enjoy! read more

If you have a long afternoon or day to spend, don't mind driving a bit to get there and can never get enough of the sights of South Florida, which I can't, this is a great place to go see and spend a day. The best part about it is that it doesn't seem to have that Florida typical overblown touristy carnival atmosphere about it. It's more like visiting a tour park, which in fact is what I would categorize it as being. Nothing is rushed; everything is relaxed as well as leisurely. They have a restaurant, which isn't all that bad, not great either, but ok and if you like nibbling on alligator or such novel items of local cuisine they have it though I found their barbecue to be the better. Because of its laid back more down to earth feeling, the freedom to roam, lack of overly pushy tourist promotions, the experience of their tours and the friendliness of their staff, I'm a fan. I spent the day and night here at Billie Swamp Safari and had fun for the most part. There were some very nice aspects to this place and a few parts that were okay.....maybe not as much to see and explore like a full blown zoo, but for visiting for the first time.....it was a good experience. Billie Swamp Safari is located in the center of South Florida in Clewiston. For me coming from Boynton Beach, it was an 88 mile drive, about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Park hours were from 11am - 6pm. There are prices for each individual activity, but that's pointless. Basically for the day, an adult was $50 and a child ages 4 - 12 was $36. Children 3 and under were free. Included in the price of admission..... - Swamp Buggy Tour - 60 minutes long - ran hourly from 11am - 5pm....eh, sort of boring and not too scenic. - Airboat Ride - every half hour from 10am - 5pm.....too short - only 20 minutes, but fun while it lasted. - Critter Show - 12:15 and 3:15pm only - cool show where we were able to touch and pet some animals. - Snake Show - 2:15 and 4:15pm only - interesting show. You learn about snakes. At the end they let you pet a snake. One awkward thing - the gentleman who handled the snakes and performed the show had a tip jar out. Ugh. -Animal Exhibits were open - 11am - 4pm. Also, upon researching Billie Swamp Safari, you could spend the night here camping out! That was the best part of our visit! So...we had the entire day to enjoy the attractions, and then for the evening, not only did we bring food to camp out and cook dinner, but we rented a "dorm chickee"! Well, at first we rented a "tent chickee", but when we realized how secluded they were "off the beaten path" from the rest of camp, we changed accommodations to a dorm chickee which was situated right next to picnic tables and our campfire. This was much more accessible. Also nearby, they had showers and sinks to wash up. Funny....for the evening I visited, my family were the only ones spending the night along the grounds. I know it was summertime and brutally hot outside...though maybe folks prefer nights in the Florida winter here when it's cooler. Regardless, a gentleman helped start our campfire before he exited the grounds. Then, we washed up. We brought hamburgers and hot dogs ahead of time, along with smore's cookies, marshmallows and chocolate. The cookout and campfire was terrific! Our dorm, featured 10 beds with sheets and bedding....yet we only needed 6 beds. The dorm/hut was relatively clean and roomy. It was certainly good enough for us sleeping for just 1 night. The tent chickee was $65 for 2 people. Since there was 6 of us, we upgraded to the dorm chickee for $120. A great deal and fun to spend the night camping out under the stars. In the morning, we gathered our belongings and headed home. Also, I'd just like to briefly mention how we navigated our time exploring the park here..... -Upon arrival at 10am, we took photos outside the Billie Swamp entrance. -We walked around the animals exhibit area which featured some unique creatures. We then bought our tickets inside the gift shop. -First at 11am, we ventured out on the Swamp Buggy Tour for 1 hour. This ride was just average/mediocre - not much to see. -While waiting for the Critter Show to start at 12:15pm, we bought $5 worth of gator food and fed the alligators from an overlooking deck. This was fun and my niece and nephew enjoyed this. -The 12:15pm Critter Show was interactive. They let a deer roam free. We got to pet a skunk and baby gator. -The Airboat Ride was next. Exciting to ride and a nice breeze, but 20 minutes was too short. -We then watched the adult gators being fed in their pens. Informative watch and remarkable how the gators were handled by a professional. -We ate lunch at the cafeteria. Pretty standard all - American food. -Next, we bought food (in the gift shop) and went to the animal petting area and fed horses, cows and goats. -We bought more food (like $2 a stick) and ventured inside a cage where birds flew onto our arms and nibbled at our sticks. -Finally, we ventured over to the 4:15pm Snake Show. Just an alright show. I was hoping for more interaction. In all, there was enough for us to see and do for our first time visiting. After the Snake Show, we grabbed our belongings, checked out our dorm chickee, casually took it easy, got ready for dinner, and prepared our campfire as the park was closed for the day. Overall, combining the day activities with camping out for the night at Billie Swamp Safari made for a fun, family experience. For anyone who hasn't discovered this place, I'd recommend checking it out. We appreciated sleeping outdoors for the evening....sort of getting out of our comfort zones. I've never had more fun at an adult field trip before. I felt like a kid again -- only this time paying attention. But seriously from start to finish 8 to 5pm I enjoyed myself so much and learning more about the Seminole tribe. If you are a history buff like me, or want to know more about the Everglades and native lands this is it for you. I wouldn't recommend if you have toddlers and below because I know my niece gets antsy after a full day but there really is entertainment for everyone. The airboat was awesome, saw about 10 gators! The wildlife shows and then the museum--their staff is A+. They are so knowledgeable I really am glad I came and can't wait to bring family from out of town. They are a little further out than other tour groups but well worth it to get the bang for the buck. Their customs are beautiful and im so happy I got to learn all that I did . They are way beyond casinos and duty free tobacco. The husband and wife tour guide duo (I forget their names) were excellent. So many cool items at the gift shop too. Arrived at Billie's on a late morning/early afternoon Sunday. We finished a tournament that morning and opted to find something entertaining to do with our kids. Leaving from Naples back to Davie, Billies showed up and made this day a great family treat. I searched Groupon and got lucky. We purchased a pack for 4. This included the air boat ride, petting zoo and a snake show. This was the best bang for your buck. The other option included another boat ride. The kids loved the airboat ride and looking at all the gators. The air boat captain was knowledgeable and new his domain! We all learned a little something so it was definitely educational. Petting zoo is limited but still great for the price. The snake show was also a nice edition to end the trip. I wanted some gator tail but left without fulfilling the craving. Maybe next time and I'll fool the kids with saying they are chicken tenders! read more

I loved this place!! There was so much to look at and do. My favorites were the otters, wolves and pigs in the walk through "zoo". The airboat ride was amazing. My only complaint was the ride was a little short (about 20 minutes) and I was hoping our guide would have talked about the Seminole tribe during her speech. We were both hoping to learn more about the tribe but the airboat captain didn't include this. All in all, this was a great day. Billie Swamp Safari was an amazing experience. Upon arriving, I paid $25 for a swamp buggy tour. The tour lasted around 50 minutes. The tour guide was super competent and knew a lot of history about the Seminole history and environment. There are animal exhibits that are super clean and great to look at. They hold a gator show where a Seminole native wrestles with an alligator. The show was super engaging, and you have a chance to learn a lot about Seminole culture. The petting zoo had a handful of animals, but the animals looked a little dirty. Overall, you could spend about 1-2 hours at the Billie Swamp Safari. The clean environment and knowledgeable staff made this experience a memorable one. read more

Terrible ! We drove 1 1/2 hours to get there and it has been closed since Covid and they still have a recording they are open and operating hours ! Exceptional spot to see the original Florida. I was surprised to learn so much history about the Seminole tribe and the land that comprises Billies. Bring plenty of water and food for snacks and lunch. The cafe is nice but the prices are way too high. The captive animals, petting area and grounds are nice. But not huge. There are some authentic huts with 'hands on' exhibits but there was no one there to educate us. The swamp buggy was the highlight, great tour, good sights. We stopped at the sight of every animal, learned about them and got plenty of up close pictures. The airboat is fun. Doubt you will see many alligators or other animals as the boats go down the same path constantly. I think I saw mare gators on the 20 mile drive off alligator alley. Snake show was excellent. Only about 20 of us present. He had great skills with the eastern diamond back, cotton mouth and pigmy. Very educational for the kids. Staff were truly what made the day. FUN FUN FUN! We spent the day here today and the weather was perfect! The place is a far drive but worth every minute of it!!! We enjoyed the buggy ride and the air boat. All a MUST! The area is clean and well kept sand there are a variety of shows for you to see! I was hesitant about this place. It's in the middle of nowhere, and they charge $49.95 (with no refunds) for a day's worth of un-air conditioned fun. But it really was pretty great. For the price, you get to go on a 30 minute airboat ride (be prepared to get wet) and a one-hour buggy ride, both through the swamp, where we saw alligators, egrets, deer, water buffalo, and all sorts of other creatures. Both the airboat guide and the buggy driver knew a lot about Seminiole culture and the local wildlife. There was also a snake show and a "wild critter" show (although I don't consider tarantulas and ferrets especially wild, they did bring out an alligator and an alligator turtle). The place is pretty basic, but I appreciated the lack of the amusement park atmosphere, and we were supporting the local Seminoles. Most of the employees were very friendly and helpful. Be prepared for a hot day. Bring your sunglasses. There's a vending machine for drinks in the gift store, or you can go to the sit down cafe. Or bring your own food/drinks. If it rains, the rides close down until the rain passes. Young children (under 3) cannot ride on the airboats. read more

Day after Thanksgiving had nothing to do so my friends and I decided to go for a drive to Billy's Swamp Safari. After exiting off I-75 the drive was very peaceful and if you drive slow enough you can see many gators in the wild. The swamp buggy ride was very cool and although very bumpy it was very calming and peaceful. It didn't feel as if we were in Florida. I recently ventured to Billie Swamp Safari during a recent weekend trip to Fort Lauderdale with friends. I had remembered seeing this place showcased on the Real Housewives of Orange County several years back, so I figured that if it was suitable for them, it couldn't be that disastrous of a place. Fortunately, all turned out well and it proved to be an overall worthwhile experience. Billie Swamp Safari is a 2,200 acre eco-heritage wildlife park featuring a host of attractions, including airboat rides, swamp buggy tours, snake shows, animal exhibits, and even overnight sleeping accommodations. The clear standout attractions during my visit were the airboat ride (20 minute duration, ~10 persons per boat) and the swamp buggy tour (45 minutes, ~30 persons per buggy). The staff were friendly and knowledgeable on both rides and we had the opportunity to see countless wildlife, including alligators, ostriches, and water buffalo. In addition to the main attractions, the park also has a restaurant (Swamp Water Cafe), but I wouldn't recommend going there unless you're ravenous to the point of mental imbalance. During my visit, I opted for the day package, which included unlimited access to all the attractions for $49.95. Discounted day packages are available for seniors (62+, $45.95), children 4-12 ($35.95), and children less than 4 (free). Reduced rates for all day access are also available after 3:30PM ($30 per person). One-time airboat and swamp buggy rides can also be purchased a la carte for $25. I love the animals are mostly in the wild. I would like to see that as their basis and not have any caged animals at all so they could be free in their natural environment. An interesting way to spend a night in the Everglades. This is a hard one to review. It's not spectacular -except for the people that work here. I think they were all amazing, helpful and courteous. Hans our tour driver for the swamp buggy ride was fantastic. Knowledgeable and very accommodating. The girls in the restaurant were also wonderful. Very friendly! Even when handling my family of 6, four boys, my wife and I. We can be a pain in the ass. Well, they are anyway. I am a pure joy to have around. We stayed in the VIP Log Cabin and it's nice. Clean. But there is not much else I can say about it. it's a bit plain. No television and our cell service only worked in one spot on the front porch. Fortunately, our family gets along and can entertain ourselves with our own ridiculousness. Plus we had brought our skateboards so at night we went down to the parking lot and skated. The park itself kinda fell short of my expectations. The views are amazing though. But I was a little disappointed with all the non-native wildlife that were there. Admittedly they are in the process of trapping and removing some of the non-native animals. That being said my family was undeterred by this. My wife really liked the swamp buggy tour And did I mention that the views are AMAZING? If you're not put off by the fact that many of these animals are displaced and are able to provide your own entertainment at night then I highly recommend Billie Swamp Safari. This was a very interesting place. When I read all the reviews I wanted to give a try here, and oh boy it was a great decision. It's a small zoo, but you will get the best experience. I would highly recommend to buy a day pass so that you can experience all the attractions. Swamp Buggy = Awesome; Air Boat = Meh I took my son to Billie's Swamp Safari today and it was awesome. The swamp buggy ride really exceeded my expectations, and when they safari, they mean it. My son had gotten honor roll at his school so they gave him a bunch of coupons for local places, Billies Swamp Safari was one and the deal was a free kids package with an adult purchase, so it included the buggy ride, an airboat ride and 2 animal shows. The adult price is $50 and the kids are $36, so it was a great deal, but next time I'll just get the buggy ride. First thing we did was the buggy ride. When they call this place a safari, I assumed it was just an Everglades Safari, but they had crazy animals like bison, water buffalo, wild hogs, ostrich, deer, and even zebras. They had zebras WTF. And of course all the native animals like crocs, gators and turkeys. Apparently it was originally going to be a hunting park, and they thankfully switched it to a safari. The buggy ride was about 45 minutes and awesome. I want to go again. Next was the airboat. The airboat ride wasn't bad, but it just wasn't as awesome as other airboat rides. The cool thing was that it was a small boat, it only had 3 rows, so you really felt like you were basically in the water. The not so great part was that it was a very short ride, only about 20 minutes. It was very anti-climatic after that awesome buggy ride. After that we went to the critter show. The presenter was great. My son loved it. We saw some really cool animals and learned a lot. Overall, Billie's was great, and we will be back, but if you're just looking for an airboat ride, try Sawgrass Recreation Park, or one of the other places, and if you've done airboats before, skip the multi-attraction pass and just do the Swamp Buggy ride. read more

Didn't go on the airboat but loved the herpetologist on duty, Colin. He LOVES snakes! Said no snake should be killed except perhaps the reticulated Boa..the ones people bring in from other countries and let loose because they 'tire' of their toys.! He has a good point. These non-native species are wiping out bird colonies and other animals. Fine display of venomous snakes as well as non. I could have talked to him for hours. Nice display of tortoises, caimans, monitor lizard and, of course, gators. Speaking of which, I went to the Swamp cafe and had Alligator nuggets for lunch along with the fry bread and honey..delicious! Nice gift shop too. read more

Fun, but limited day. It's a bit of a ride to get to Billie's. The location is very clean and laid out very nicely with plenty of shade. The day we went was beautiful but only a handful of people were there. Only a couple of exhibits were open. We opted for the airboat ride which were an absolute blast. I visited Billie Swamp Safari as part of a visit to the Seminole Reservation through an FSU alumni group. The airboat ride was a lot of fun! I had never been on one before, so I didn't really know what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. We did have a pretty long wait, as some other reviewers have mentioned. I think the organization of the tours could probably be improved a bit, but still, they definitely give fair warning that you might have to wait a while, and everyone is friendly and so that helps a bit. They provided us with earplugs, and I was so grateful for that, because the ride is pretty loud. Our airboat driver took us around for about 20 minutes,, and gave us some descriptions along the way of plantlife and different nature-ish things that we came across. Who knew there are such beautiful nature-y things in Florida? I really enjoyed getting in there, into areas where all you could see were trees and there were no buildings in sight. After the airboat ride, we walked around a bit. There are alligators, a Florida panther, and some other native Florida creatures that were really cool to see. We saw some kids in cabins so it seems like you can rent a place to stay there. It was a nice end to our fun day! Could have at least had some harmless snakes to pet. The other animals were pretty cool. Lots of crocodiles to see and feed. Overall great place for kids. The swamp buggy tour is a must see. An adventurous ride not for the faint of heart. The buggies plow through some pretty uneven terrain, with some pretty serious rocking involved. Fantastic wildlife views, with a great mix of native and imported species. A real blast. I believe our guide's name was Tania and she was so knowledgeable and fun. A terrific way to spend 45 minutes to an hour. Several people on the buggy had been here multiple times. Airboat tour is a leisurely 20-30 minutes through a greater mix of environments than a lot of other airboat tours in the area. However, it is a relatively short excursion and not nearly as exciting (or raucous) as the buggy rides. We were there for feeding time in the later afternoon, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The wolf expert (don't remember his name) actually gets in the enclosure with these amazing animals. They also have bears, javelina, serval, otters, porcupine, capybara, and even a gator named Trump. Everything is clean and well kept. Will definitely bring out of town guests here as an intro to Florida. You can even stay overnight in the chickees and request Seminole storytelling and nighttime tours. Just be aware that it is a little out of the way, but the road into the park is lined with waterways filled with alligators. Keep your eyes peeled. And as always in Florida, make sure to bring sunscreen and bug spray. read more

Super cool place to visit but the only thing is that it is a long drive from fort lauderdale. They have different animals besides just he gators... The fun part is that you get to get on the boat ride and see all the crocodiles. Even though I was kinda bummed that the ride was short but still enjoyed it. Super fun! And they have a small deli there and from what I seen on the menu they sell gator meat and they looked like chicken nuggets lol...didn't try it.. But cool experience. Loved this place even with the over an hour drive out to the middle of nowhere off of I-75. Brought my daughter and her friend visiting from Fremont, CA and we all had a blast. That Swamp Buggy ride with Tanya was really cool. Got to see a bunch of wildlife big and small. Even got to witness an amorous male ostrich dance & flirt with our driver & guide . We also enjoyed feeding and petting the various "characters" in the pettimg zoo (mini-horse, a goat, donkey & 2 bisons??). We came here a day after we visited the Kennedy Space Center in the middle of the week and enjoyed the leisurely & unhurried pace to enjoy both sites due to the lack of crazy crowds. Also all the staff from the gift shop, to the cafe & even the gator wrestling show were so nice and friendly. We did love Tanya the best! Will definitely come back again. read more

The buggy and airboat rides were amazing. We saw alligators, antelopes, water buffalo, bison, and so much more. Even the botanical diversity was absolutely gorgeous. Our guides were so enthusiastic and interactive. It was a great experience ! read more

Update: we went back last week because we did not have the opportunity for a Swamp Buggy ride when we visited last time. Our driver was Captain Tanya (not sure of the spelling of her name). She was very high spirited, very friendly and knowledgeable with all kinds of factoids. I suspect every ride with her is different. It is a very bumpy ride so maybe not for everyone though they do not restrict anyone but you should be aware. I will see if I can add additional photos. I like coming out here from Miami Beach every few years. It's a real tourist attraction. Our friends wanted an airboat drive, and they enjoyed the one here. I love the café - it's not gourmet food, but good kind of fast food. If you need an Indian taco fix, this is the place. The waitress also brought us a sample of freshly made fried bread. I really enjoyed the animals - the bobcat is such a sweetie, the capybaras are like the rodents in The Princess Bride, and the otters are, well, otterish - full of play. On our way back to Tampa from Miami, we decided on a whim to check this place out. Way better than other similar safari places I've been too. The air boat and swamp buggy ride were awesome. So many animals to see. The staff is very knowledgeable and nice. It's a little off the grid, but worth the drive. The area is beautiful and you can catch some gators on the drive in.
