I've called Bills Appliance Sales and Service every time I need appliance help. From the receptionist, Monica, to the technical staff, they are helpful, friendly and efficient. Robert, one of Bills co-owners came out to resolve a problem with my washer, and he arrived on time, and kept me updated. He called after he left and diagnosed the problem, pointing me in a new direction, as the problem isn't my washer. We appreciated the promptness and professionalism of the Monday morning response from Monica (& Gloria) at Bill's Appliance after I called and left a message over a weekend after our over-the-range microwave started smoking (wasn't in use) and filled the condo with putrid electrical smelling smoke. She scheduled their technician Juan who came a few days later, earlier than the scheduled time, to diagnose the problem which turned out to be a blown transformer. Parts were ordered and the initial repair was made by Juan and Trevor a week or so later not knowing the heating element had also gone out. That part was ordered and Monica scheduled them to return after the Christmas holiday for the final repair. It was a pricy repair, but living in a rural area, we did not have the choice of replacing our microwave or finding the size and style that met our needs. Bill's Appliance came to fix my refrigerator today. He arrived early (called before), was courteous, and wore a mask over his nose the entire visit. he diagnosed the problem quickly, and then fixed it quickly. it was back to normal in an hour. I highly recommend Bill's Appliance repair, and will be using them myself if I ever need to again (hopefully my appliances dont keep breaking). Really excellent. Pretty disappointed with their ability to quote simple repairs. The techs came out to look at my freezer which wasn't freezing anymore. There was a refrigerant leak. They first told me it would be $95 to add refrigerator sealant. I authorized this work. Then during the sealing process they told me that their standard fee for adding sealant is actually $195, not happy. Finally, they come back and tell me because it is a Sub-Zero the cost is actually $295+$99 diagnostic fee. I brought this up with the techs and office person, Monica. I went from authorizing a $200 to being charged almost $400. I am not a happy customer and Bill's/Marvin's Appliance has very little sympathy. I fee like they took advantage of my situation. read more

We arrived to our family cabin in Mammoth to discover that our fridge was broken and needed to be replaced as soon as possible. Monica was extremely helpful in pointing us in the right direction to purchase a new fridge, and then worked with us in scheduling delivery and install ASAP. The techs who installed the fridge and took away the old one were great! They navigated difficult stairs and small entry ways with skill and patience, were friendly and kind, were conscious of avoiding damage to the walls and new fridge, and helped us get everything set up the way we wanted. THIS PLACE IS A FU$%^NG JOKE! DO NOT USE So our dryer was making some noise on start up and shut down and we hired this place to diagnose the problem and hopefully fix the dryer. Two technicians showed up on time and dressed in uniform, but one of them absolutely smelled horrific; it was as the dude had just smoked a cig on our doorstep and then let himself in. Smelled like a dirty ashtray. Moving on to the dryer...they diagnosed the problem and told us that the part was not on the truck and that it would have to be ordered by Maureen, the girl in the office. I was ok with this and they left. Maureen called two days later to tell us that the part was going to be $85 and labor was going to be $105. OK, so add the $99 diagnosis fee that we already paid and we we're looking at about $300 for a dryer that is hardly worth that. I called Maureen at the office and politely asked her to tell me the part number so that I could order it myself off the web. Maureen got upset and told me that they don't release part numbers; she did not give me a reason, nor did she give me a specific diagnosis. The $99 housecall fee was supposed to include a diagnosis and the labor to install a part if the time was not over an hour; that is what she told me on the phone when I booked the service call. So basically we got screwed! Here's the kicker...So I also notify her that the service truck leaked oil on our driveway. She got incredibly defensive and replies with, " Our trucks are regularly serviced and there's no way that the truck leaked oil." I told her that the fact was that the truck leaked on our driveway. She asked if I wanted someone to come clean it up with a laugh/chuckle in her voice. I told her that I wanted someone to come by and look at it with me so that collectively we could decide on the best course of action. She told me that she would have the owner contact me. I emailed the owner and gave the whole story and have not heard back from him in over a week. BOTTOM LINE....DO NOT GET SCREWED BY BILL'S APPLIANCE OR MARVIN & SONS. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO PROVIDE SERVICE OR RUN A BUSINESS. read more

They shut the power to my sewage pump which cost me hundreds of dollars. I complained and got no response. The repairs were ok, expensive for my Wolfe and Subzero. Not many techs can fix these great appliances. You have to watch and check the work, double check the breaker boxes after they leave. read more

Bill's Appliance/Marvin & Sons Appliance did a terrific job fixing our non-heating clothes dryer. My contacts were with their intake person Monica and their technician Robert, both of whom responded to our problem promptly, professionally and courteously. Robert patiently answered all our questions, showed us why our dryer wasn't heating, replaced the defective part and thoroughly cleaned out the machine and vent pipe, and then showed us how to prevent this from happening in the future. You hear a lot about slow and flakey service in some of the resort areas like Mammoth Lakes, but not so with Bill's! Monica and I communicated via email regarding my faulty fridge in our condo in Mammoth. We don't live there so I was just hoping for the best regarding service. She was very simple and to the point with my options on how they would provide the service and how I could pay for it. Their service man went there when she said he would, which was within 2 days of our email, and he called me immediately to confirm the price and fixed the fridge that day! The price was right and the service was beyond reproach! I'm so glad they are there in isolated Mammoth to handle our appliance needs. read more

Bill's Appliance just finished repairing my dryer. Bill's work was professional and thorough. They called to confirm their arrival time and arrived when they said they would. I highly recommend Bill's Appliance and would call them first in the future. I worked in Information Technology for almost 40 years; people always ask me to fix their computers. While all computers are basically the same, they all have their idiosyncrasies. Sometimes it's difficult to determine the problem and it's always difficult to tell someone the bad news if the problem is significant. Two very polite and professional men arrived to diagnose the problem which I appreciate. One person supplied the tools to the other so that one person wasn't constantly getting up and down; made the job go more quickly. In my case, the problem was not simple to find and it was good that there were two technicians who could discuss possibilities. My dryer indicator lights suggested it was good to go, but would not start. The technicians methodically checked and tested each of the components from the most common issue to the less common. The common issues tested fine. When they went to test the control module, the on-board diagnostics would not work. They could have stopped there and said the control module was bad (this would have been easy for them and expensive for me), but instead they took the time to actually get to and inspect the control module. There was nothing obviously wrong with it (no leaky capacitors or burn marks). They reassembled the unit and I was prepared for them to tell me they would have to order a new module, but they gave the dryer one more test and it worked fine... there must have been some kind of a bad connection on the module. Regardless of the outcome, these folks did terrific, trustworthy work and I was glad I called them. read more

I am not a review writer. But, in this case I was shocked at the above and beyond service that I received from Bill's appliance. I had damage to a new range. It came without a model and serial number so the manufacturer didn't want to cover it. Monica made a million phone calls for me, got me a model and serial number, and fixed the range. It was a small piddly job but it took 5 months of back and forth calls with the manufacturer to get them to send the numbers and then agree to the repair. Monica did all if this for me. It was a ridiculous amount of her time for a small repair. I am a real estate broker and I deal with repair companies frequently. I expected at any moment for Monica to say, sorry you need to get your own model and serial number, we cannot spend so many hours working for you for free. Instead, she took charge and handled everything for me. I am truly impressed and grateful for their service. read more

Monica, the office manager, at Bill's Appliance provided us with the best customer service to be found in the High Sierra. We had a warranty repair issue with a brand new Frigidaire Affinity washer/dryer. We called the first name on Frigidaire's list, the answer "No, we don't come to Mammoth". We called the second name on the list, Owens Valley Appliance. They set an appointment on a Friday. No show, no call. When I got them on the phone late Friday, they said they had "an emergency service call" (yeah, right), and reset the appointment for the following Tuesday. Again, no show, no call. Finally, after calling Frigidaire again, they gave me the name of Marvin & Sons. I called, and Monica was immediately on the case - taking my warranty information, checking with her tech on what parts might be necessary, and ordering them in advance of the scheduled appointment. If you buy a major appliance, service after the purchase can be critical. Sears in Bishop is already on our "no go" list due to lousy service, and now Owens Valley Appliance is also on the lousy service list. In contrast, I can't recommend Bill's Appliance, Marvin & Sons to Frigidaire, highly enough. They stand head-and-shoulders above every other appliance repair service that we have contacted in the area! read more

We had a Maytag refrigerator delivered in Mammoth Lakes with the door opening on the wrong side. There were some problems getting the door reversed. Monica sent a technician and he determined that some of the holes were not in the right place. He corrected and reversed the door. Monica contacted Maytag and the service call was covered under warranty. The service from Monica and the staff at Bill's Appliance was above and beyond my expectations!! read more
