Rude front desk staff. Seems like they're mad you the moment you walked into the store, Lisa especially. We tried to give a small business a chance. Going to Office Max now for printing much better pricing and attitude. If you use the self serve copy machine . you should be o.k. but if you need help or guidance , you will be treated like dirt. Last week I went into Bill's Copy Shop, handed the gentleman at the counter my 13 sheets of paper and asked him how much extra it would cost if I had him copy them for me. Just one copy per page. He said 2¢ extra per page, if he did it. I was very happy to have him do it, knowing he would do a better job, and told him so. Pages were copied, I paid cash and everything was fine. THIS MORNING I went in and a different gentleman came to the counter. I handed him the same 13 pages and very nicely said, "Hi. Could you please copy these for me? Just one page each. Thank you." The guy then started to come out from behind the counter, telling me he was going to show me how to use their copy machine, so I could make the copies myself. I answered that I didn't want to make the copies myself and understood the charge would be a bit more, but would he please copy the papers for me? That's when all Hell broke loose. He insisted that I learn to use their "Self-Serve" copier and that otherwise "It will take a day for us to do this for you." Then he told me he was busy on another job and that's why copying my 13 pages would mean my pages wouldn't be ready until the next day. I replied that just last week, the other gentleman had had no problem doing it for me and would he please do the same? Back and forth we went, with him glaring at me and insisting I learn to make my own copies. About mid-way through all of this, I informed him that I didn't need to "learn" any copying, as I was only at the copy shop because my own printer at home was temporarily out of commission. (Please note: In the time all of this took, with him trying to badger me and the woman at the back chiming in to yell at me ----- my 13 pages could have been copied, over and over.) Finally, after he tried his level best to bully me into "learning how" to make my own copies, I picked up my 13 pages and said, "Okay. Fine. I'll get these done elsewhere." **Silly me, thinking he would give the same service I had got only a week earlier.** As I started to walk out of the shop some woman at the back of the shop nibbed in and said something to me about how I should learn to make my own copies. I admit that at this point I raised my voice, just a bit, as I felt compelled to say, "You know ---- it's REALLY BAD of you to mistreat locals like this. I won't be coming back here." She started yelling at me about how wrong I was about being mistreated and I replied, "I'm THE CUSTOMER and I FEEL that I'm being mistreated." She was still yelling at me when I pushed open the door and left. I had heard people mention the nasty attitude at Bill's Copy Shop. I guess I just had to experience it for myself to believe it. read more

I need to get my own printer but until I do it is $.25 a copy and they're just so darn pleasant! It is busier than a one arm paper hanger in there and they are just doing a great job of doing projects and printing off things and whatever they're doing they hired a really nice people and it seems like they are Able to do really great work. Normally I go to Goleta (Staples) for my printing needs because it's very streamlined and I don't have to talk to anybody (even to pay). Bills is in a location that's super convenient for me, but for whatever reason I took forever to try them out. I finally tried it, and I was able to get what I needed printed. However, when I went to pay for my papers I asked the man behind the checkout counter how much I owed. I'm not sure if we had a miscommunication or what, but he just stared at me like I was a complete idiot for what felt like the longest 45 seconds of my life, made a condescending comment about how "well, we won't give it to you for free", before ringing me up. I was just trying to pay what I owed.. not sure if this was an attempt at humor, but instead he made me feel like a huge idiot for no real discernible reason. Maybe he was having a bad day? No reason to take it out on your customers. Won't be going back, even though it's right next to my house. Reading other reviews it seems like rude behavior is a common issue here, so at least it's not just me read more

There is no Bill at Bill's Copy Shop. There is a Lisa who on my three attempts to use the services at this copy shop was so nasty, unhelpful and vile, I explained to her that I would not return. No one wants to pay to be insulted and harmed. Lisa is not set up to work efficiently. She's angry and looking for someone to trash. read more

I really like this place, because the main woman who runs the counter knows her shit. She's fast, efficient and knowledgeable. I went in to get 5 pages scanned. Even though there were four other costumers demanding attention, it was done in two minutes and a pdf of the document was sent immediately to my email. Cost next to nothing, too. The printing aspect of Bill's is well run and nicely set up; I've never had an issue with the outcome. I just really can not tolerate the absolute disgustingly rude customer service I receive every time I go here or call to ask a question. I don't understand why you have to treat paying customers with such absolute disrespect for simply calling to ask a question. Usually the staff is very unfriendly but my most recent visit was the worst yet! The girl so obviously did not want to help! She told me to wait while she helped other customers that just needed to use the copy machines that were coming in after me. I should of just walked out. Self-serve copy shop that is a good competitor to the big guys. Keep track of the number of copies you make. The machine doesn't run a tally and you'll have to tell the clerk how many you have. They are very fair, and if you mess up, they'll credit you, as well as help you if you need anything. read more

THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED, NO ONE CARES AT ALL ANYMORE. I used to use Bill's Copy Shop for all my printing, because they made things so easy, and just did what I needed done. Though their copy prices are still the lowest, after going in today, they made it quite clear they just don't care, and seemed angry that they had to even get up to help me, a long time customer. They actually turned me away, rather than even trying to take my order, or even care enough to ask about deadlines, which is something I'm sure the printing industry sees frequently. Last time I was in the copy shop, last week, the manager was very rude, and complained at least three times about how annoying her customers are, sarcastically saying 'well this is a good lunch break', since she had to answer the phone on her break. Her behavior was ALMOST enough to scare me off. I used to be able to go into Bill's, download my files, and ask them to print the correct size, etc, and walk out with my prints. Now I have to put in some sort of order? And wait around for them to get around to it? Even though I need it now? And pay to use the computer for 30 seconds? No thanks SORRY BILL'S, YOU JUST LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER. ADVICE: CARE MORE. TEND TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. DO NOT MAKE THEM YOUR CUSTOMERS FEEL LIKE THEY ARE INCONVENIENCING YOU, BY REQUESTING A COMMON PRINTING TASK. IT IS YOUR JOB TO TAKE CARE OF CUSTOMERS, AND MEET THEIR NEEDS. read more

In seeing the so so reviews, I thought I would add another viewpoint, that this independent copy/printing shop is great! Best bargain for self serve copies by a sizeable amount (.05). Friendly helpful through on other printing jobs, including ability to receive files via email. If there is a problem with their machinery, they call, and they've gone the distance to get the job done when needed (like when their laminating machine broke on them, they tapped the resources of a like business in town to get it done for us). With Bill's, handle your job task no different than what ought to be done at any other copy/printer place: if you are emailing a job, and there are important relevant instructions, I would be on top of confirming they got the email, could access the attachment successfully, to seeing a proof, and so on. When I've seen shortcomings in how a job was handled (one of my past employers used them), I would have to say that the employee handling the job didn't go the distance on ensuring that instructions were understood as intended. They are not open 24/7, so if you need that, then see FedEx Kinkos. But you should be very happy with the end product, and very happy with the final price point. I came here to get my poster laminated because a friend of mine had mentioned great things about them. Turns out that their machine isn't temperature controlled and ended up ruining a limited movie theater grade edition poster. They were willing to pay for the poster in full for what I received it for, but unfortunately, the poster is no longer available for purchase anywhere on the web. Probably would be wise to stay away from this place. Cheap and destructive is not the way to go. read more
