It's a bit difficult to find upstairs but it's well appointed and the view of the castle is pretty legit. We tried a couple of apps, both of which were good but the fish and chips were dialed in! Extra crispy chips and nice big piece of fish were complimented by classic mushy peas and a house made tartar sauce. The service was impeccable to top things off. If you are in the area, you should definitely add this to the list of places to try.

Great views and atmosphere can't make up for embarrassing, Aunt Bessie's quality roast…read more Came to The Ivy expecting a refined Sunday roast, but left wondering if I'd accidentally paid £29 for something reheated from the freezer aisle. The roast potatoes were dry, dense, and suspiciously uniform, Aunt Bessie's on an off day. Yorkshire puddings were flavourless and hollow, with that telltale mass-produced texture. Vegetables were minimal and uninspired. The lamb was unseasoned and tough. For a restaurant with The Ivy's name and reputation, this felt rushed, joyless, and deeply underwhelming. No real flavour payoff, and no sign that anyone in the kitchen had any pride in the food they send out. Feels all the more jarring given how beautiful the setting is. This was less "elegant brasserie" and more "supermarket ready-meal with better lighting". I wouldn't return for the roast -- and I wouldn't recommend it.

After looking into several options, we realized that afternoon tea is expensive so we settled for this one due to it's affordable nature. The Tea Terrace is nestled on the fifth floor of a department store which is good to know or you might get lost looking for it like we did. Everything about the place screams "cute" from the plates to the couches to the fake horse carriages. I ordered one of the afternoon tea packages which came with an assortment of goods including scones, sandwiches, and petite fours. I enjoyed the scones but the sandwiches were a little bland and the petite fours were decent. Also, grabbing the waiter's attention can be a little difficult. Overall, it's good for those looking for an affordable tea option.

What i loved about the tea…read moreterrace was that we were able to choose our scones and sandwiches which made the experience all together a little bit more enjoyable. We ordered what we knew we wanted to eat instead of them handing us a bunch of random sandwiches which inevitably would probably have been wasted. I was not please to find the mismatched cutlery and the broken salt and pepper shakers at the table. It was messy and tea is not supposed to be messy. The servers were hard to get a hold of once we were seated, it took about 25 minutes for us to get our food and seeing as we got our tea within 5 minutes of ordering, it was a shame. Cold tea and sandwiches just aren't what you expect when you're paying so much for tea.
