From the complimentary…read morevalet parking to the cheerful greeting at the door by welcoming staff, we were satisfied with our decision to come. Kaylynn, our server, was knowledgeable and friendly. We had our 2 yr old grandson with us, and he was treated with kindness and respect. I can't say enough about the food. Intriguing, delicious, perfectly prepared and served. I had the lobster and filets, and my husband enjoyed the ribeye. Our adult kids had filets, and we shared the burrata and heirloom tomatoes. All the sides were more than ample, and we were already discussing how we would order next time. I brought home a sherry salmon dinner for my aunt, and she said it was the most delicious salmon she'd had, and she's from Washington. The ambiance, the attention to detail (the coffee in its own French press), and the quality and presentation of the food makes Prime 88 a true gem in our little corner of the Nature Coast. Well worth a visit for special occasions or any time you want a great meal. Side note - it was my son's birthday, and he was given a choice of 3 complimentary desserts. I was expecting a bowl of ice cream with a candle in it, but it was delicious cheesecake with a swirl of whipped cream and a raspberry. Absolutely a wonderful night. (We're coming back for daughter's birthday!)

Tidal might have my favorite beers of any of them. I've become one of those IPA people over the years, and they're great with those, from West Coast to Hazy--but they're also solid with other styles, and seem to be particularly good with British styles, from ESBs to "mild" ales. The service there's always been fast and friendly, and I like the place's atmosphere in general: it's rarely too loud but it's still lively, making it good for both sitting down with a beer to do some writing and for chatting up people on the admittedly rare times I'm being chatty. While there's little food within walking distance--a problem with virtually any Florida suburb--there's a lot within short driving distance, and a taco truck recently set up semi-permanently in the parking lot. (I haven't had a chance to try them yet.)

Tidal Brewing isn't much on atmosphere, but they make up for it with a solid bunch of beers. Tidal is located in an old, somewhat rundown strip mall that is next to an abandoned gas station. Some of the parking places were the actual gas pumps or former gas pumps. The inside is fine with an assortment of board games, tables, booths and a bar. The beer is really good. I asked for a flight, but they don't have flight boards. You can get as many 5 oz pours as you want in pint glasses. The only issue here is carrying 6-pint glasses to your booth. No biggie. I was a big fan of their Horchata Porter, Turbid Waters (hazy IPA) and the Dunkelweissen. Pretty tasty. There is no food onsite but there was a Marco's pizza in the strip mall, some shady looking food truck around the corner, and a Latin restaurant next door. If I was just judging on the beer, 4 stars. The server was nice and if I was a local, I'd be a regular.

The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance--upscale and intimate without feeling stuffy--and everything is made fresh to order. We started with the crab cake appetizer, and it was the real deal--packed with blue crab and no filler, just how it should be. The vegetables and shrimp paired with the teriyaki were cooked perfectly, flavorful without being overpowering. The Monterey Jack chicken was impressive: a huge chicken breast, juicy, tender, and cooked just right. The portion sizes were larger than expected for a more fine-dining-style restaurant, which was a pleasant surprise. And a special shout-out to our waitress, Chanel, who was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made the entire experience even better. Great food, great service, and a cozy date-night vibe--definitely worth a visit.
