From the complimentary valet parking to the cheerful greeting at the door by welcoming staff, we were satisfied with our decision to come. Kaylynn, our server, was knowledgeable and friendly. We had our 2 yr old grandson with us, and he was treated with kindness and respect. I can't say enough about the food. Intriguing, delicious, perfectly prepared and served. I had the lobster and filets, and my husband enjoyed the ribeye. Our adult kids had filets, and we shared the burrata and heirloom tomatoes. All the sides were more than ample, and we were already discussing how we would order next time. I brought home a sherry salmon dinner for my aunt, and she said it was the most delicious salmon she'd had, and she's from Washington. The ambiance, the attention to detail (the coffee in its own French press), and the quality and presentation of the food makes Prime 88 a true gem in our little corner of the Nature Coast. Well worth a visit for special occasions or any time you want a great meal. Side note - it was my son's birthday, and he was given a choice of 3 complimentary desserts. I love to travel all around the world and I do food tours in almost every city I visit, and even several different countries. With that being said and going to Prime 88 probably around 7-8 times, they have an incredible menu. Some of my favorites are the whipped feta, , love adding additions onto my steaks, French onion soup, garlic mash potatoes (sounds boring but there's magic in it or something, lol) the drinks are divine, and make sure whatever you do leave room for dessert! Get the banana foster there, and the peanut butter cup Togo!! Also the service is always superb. For a nice steakhouse, good drinks, great ambiance, this is the perfect spot. I always go here when I'm visiting friends in the area. We were seated right away for our reservation. We had asked for patio seating as there is live music on the weekends. The food is fantastic!! Steaks are always perfectly done. Sides are portioned to share. Wine and liquor selections are also top tier. The desserts are also scrumptious. I usually get it to go because we have never finished our whole meal. Ordered way too much food! Had the shrimp appetizer and the wedge salad. Both are large enough to share. I ordered a 8 ounce filet and husband had a ribeye. He is picky and wanted med rare. First steak was med well reordered another. Meanwhile rest of our party ate their dinners. Second worse than the first. Kept it since all were done and wanted photos. Prime 88 is a very beautiful upscale Steakhouse. The design is industrial MOD. There are some very interesting ginormous sculptures beside the building in a garden area for your viewing pleasure. I love the artistic edge of the design. It's my absolute fave. The menu has some interesting features, one is the Oysters Rockefeller. They make theirs with ginormous chunks of super crispy panchetta topped with hollandaise. Very decadent. We got two dozen, however, they were completely different, so they are not very consistent. Prime 88 has a gourgous MOD interior which makes it a fabulous celebratory restaurant & experience. The lighting is super mod & fabulous. Bar is lovely for happy hour also & the service is phenomenal. However, the wine list sucks. There are no proper wines or Champagnes either. Both times we were there to celebrate a special occasion & we couldn't find anything to drink. We ordered one glass of champagne & hated it. We don't drink much anymore so it's not really a big deal, we just won't be back for dinner until the wine/champagne list is updated with some more appropriate wine pairings. It's also very very expensive. I don't mind very very expensive, if it is luxury & you can deliver on that. However, the wine list here is more like you would find at Circle K. We made a mid-week reservation to celebrate some anniversaries with friends, and everything from start to finish was wonderful. Service was outstanding, our server was personable, attentive, and made the evening extra enjoyable. Even though we were there close to closing time, we never felt rushed. Food-wise, the French onion soup (the only photo I managed to grab) was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chicken marsala and give it a solid 5/5. A special highlight: I had called the day before to ask about bringing our own cake, and they not only said yes but went above and beyond with a full presentation. Stopped in at Prime 88 located at 15407 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL! Always ample parking, interior and exterior are always immaculate. I started with a house salad with lemon vinaigrette and an orange hibiscus sangria. The lemon vinaigrette over a crispy house salad was sweet and savory that brought a refreshing flavor to the palette. The orange hibiscus sangria was very sweet and flavorful, the candied orange slice garnish was a great touch that complimented the overall flavor. My main course was the Black Angus prime beef 30 ounce porterhouse! These steaks are aged 21 days for full flavor which you can taste in every bite. I had my steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The steak was a very large portion which I could not finish at the restaurant but will definitely have a delightful lunch for tomorrow. This is a very honest review. After 4 years of living nearby we finally came here. I was excited to finally try it. We usually drive out to Tampa for steakhouses. The building outside and in is beautiful. The service was very good. The food was just disappointing. A lot of items are dated and I imagine geared for an older audience. The steak sauces were lacking flavor. The steak was cooked very nice but lacking any flavor even though we were told they season well. We ordered a side and it was just ok. The best item we had was French fries from my child's dish. We opted for no dessert because I just felt like it would end up the same, looks and sounds good but really just might miss the mark. I would like to try the lounge menu sometime but can't say I will ever come back for the dining room steak menu. Again, our service was very good, attentive and kind to all of us. Our experience visually and socially was very nice. Food wise it just solidified the fact that we will never be back. I've driven by at least a dozen times heading north and always wondered! This year, we traveled a bit north to celebrate my husband's birthday and Prime 88 did not disappoint! We started with drinks and a charcuterie plate- the Manhattan was perfect, but their house smoked old fashioned is made with Maple Bourbon, so don't be surprised when you take a sip! The cheese and meats were wonderful. Then we ordered dinner- their steaks are wet aged for a few weeks and were cooked to perfection. I had the steak Diane, he had the ribeye with lobster tail, and we shared the Brussel sprouts and truffle fries- more food than we knew what to do with! The staff knew we were celebrating a birthday, so they offered a birthday card, a printed picture, and dessert for the birthday boy- he chose the absolutely decadent chocolate cake. I chose their coffee service (perfect) and their famed crème brûlée...and I'd do it again and again! The bill was pretty hefty, so this would not be a spot to frequent for a full spread very often, but we plan to pop in for starters, drinks, or a sweet treat every now and then! And no matter which sides you choose you won't be disappointed. My favorite is their Mac and cheese ( without the lobster). I'm not six years old but it's the best Mac and cheese anywhere and it makes me feel as if I'm six again! Their Brussels Sprouts are also delicious and I'm not usually a fan of sprouts. Our server, Thalia, was an absolute gem--attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Not a single dirty plate or breadcrumb was left behind throughout the night. The manager stopping by our table was a lovely touch and made us feel truly welcome. We started with a round of cocktails--Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Lemon Drop, and Bourbon Smash--and each one was flawlessly balanced and dangerously smooth. For food, we enjoyed Oysters Rockefeller, Chateaubriand for two (carved tableside!), mac & cheese, onion rings, and arugula salad. Every bite was better than the last, and the presentation was top-tier. The wine list was excellent, and we capped off the evening with the Hummingbird Cheesecake and Tall, Dark & Handsome chocolate cake--not a crumb left behind. The only thing you're paying for here is ambience. Quality of food does not meet the price point, nor does the attitude and even level of service provided by some of the staff. Hostess had chip on her shoulder and attitude when my group walked in. Server seemed irritated that she was being asked questions or asked to wait while we pass around one iPad amongst eight people. Disappointing. My wife went to Prim 88 on Thursday the 14th of May. It started off ok, the seats that they had for the table were not dining room chairs they are like an office chair. I ordered my second old fashion. I took a sip of my drink and I cut my lip on the chipped glass. I informed the waitress and she apoligized and said she would bring me another drink. I was not that much worried about the drink as I was about my cut lip bleeding. after a few minutes the bleeding stopped and I noticed that the waitress replaced my drink with something else. Then the stake came out. The stake was over cooked, not warm and had no flavor. It was as if it was washed in water. The waitress offered to replace the stake. I waited for a new stake while the sides I ordered were getting cold and my wife waited to eat her meal so I would not be eating by myself. The second stake came out and it was drenched in butter. This was not a very good experience and not worth the money. There is always a risk when trying a new place. I hope this helps. read more

We have eaten here a few times. Birthdays and other celebrations. Today is a Sunday, nothing exciting going on, and very few people there. We watched someone in front of us, random and regular get seated in the main dining room. We, on the other hand, got seated in the outdoor BAR area. I had on a $300 free people dress, and $200 shoes...my husband and 16 year old daughter also dressed appropriately. We were seated outside, in an outdoor bar, there was literally NO one else out there. It was the last table in front of a wall with chairs piled up against it. We had horrible service, and we paid with tip over 300 dollars to be seated outside because we had a 16 year old with us? My husband had on short sleeves? I don't know. The service was Applebees at best. At best. Sometimes we have been here and the service was on point, exceptional. I mean exceptional. After this experience though, I will make the drive to Tampa to Charlie's or Berns the next time we go out. The best restaurant I've ever dinned at. This is my go to spot for steaks and other fair that they have their special menus weekly. This time I tried something different and got the Beef Wellington, which was delicious. I've never had it before so it was definitely an experience and for appetizer I had the blue crabcakes extremely delicious. I've had crab cakes at other places including seafood restaurants and they could not compare to this. The wine selection is fantastic. If you get a mixed drink it's made correctly. As far as attention to detail, these guys are top-notch from getting the order right the first time to cleaning up the table between courses to constantly checking your drinks you couldn't answer anything better. The calamari was amazing and was not overcooked The Brussel sprouts were disgusting. Mushy and soggy with no flavor and tasted like they were soaked in flavorless oil! They even threw cheese on it Best way to cook Brussel sprouts take fatty bacon and cook it in a large square pan so you catch all the bacon fat. Take the halved Brussel sprouts (halved not smashed) and prep them in another pan. Once the bacon is cooked and you have a nice pool of bacon grease while it's still hot, pour it over the Brussel sprouts and throw them in the oven after the bacon. Chop up your bacon and Toss some balsamic over it and bam best Brussel Sprouts ever! Whatever y'all served me was atrocious. I'd come back here for the lobster Mac and Cheese and not order anything else! It's that good! Being a Florida restaurant in the middle of nowhere I know it is hard to get local breweries to deliver but what better way to showcase Florida than to serve some local breweries from the Tampa region!
