I've been going to Billy's for the better part of 2 years now, and I have been satisfied every time with my haircut. Both Billy and Shannon do an excellent job. It does have an "old school" feel to it as some other people have mentioned on yelp, and I sincerely think they do a good job pulling it off. Every time I go I don't have to say anything besides "the usual" and Billy will know what to do. Haircuts are very reasonably priced at $19 for a men's haircut, and includes a nice warm shave for the sideburns and upper neck. The two are always pleasant, always lively, and always professional. I would highly recommend Billy G's over any of the chain stores popping up nearby that cycle through new barbers every other month. Note: they're constantly busy, so it would be best to make a reservation. Even with a reservation sometimes you might have to wait 10-15 minutes, but the quality is certainly worth it. read more

Finding a great barber was a chore for me since moving from New York 25 years ago. I was always fussy about my hair, since I was a teen in the Disco days, and still am fussy now. So when my barber for a little over a year from Brooklyn, moved to Arizona, I was again in search for that special person. And guess what? I found him when I walked into Billy G's. From the first momemt I spoke to Billy, and also meeting his wife, I knew I have found my future barber. But Billy is not only a barber but an artist. He is the best of the best. His wife is a sweet person and also cuts wonderful hair. My son noticed my hair and he said I need to go there too. And he did. And he was so happy after she did a great job. Oh by the way Shannon my wife will be coming also. Billy even has an older gentleman that cuts and reminds me of my uncle in New York who has been cutting hair for over 60 years. So before Billy cut my hair, my uncle, originally from Italy, was the best barber I had ever seen. So to put Billy in his company is the best compliment I could give him. And I also have to thank him for taking my other son who hit traffic from work, and got to his shop late. Went here for a haircut for my son. Walked in, no acknowledgement from the staff at all. No sign in sheet. So we sat down and waited thinking they would get to us. Only one person before us. We waited about 15 minutes. Still no acknowledgment. Eventually got the attention of one of the barbers said we couldn't wait - been there 15 minutes already - couldn't have told us that before? Still decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Made an appointment for the next day, walked in for the appointment, guess what? I've been going to Billy G's for close to three years now. There are three important dimensions which I have come to think about haircuts and they are: quality, service, and price. Quality I grew up on the shore. I have been to numerous hair cutting dens, shops, and salons in search of that fountain of youth-like great haircut. Along the way, my hair has been shaved, buzzed, and butchered to say the very least. However, my burdensome quest finally ended 3 years ago when I stumbled into Billy G's workshop. He takes his time with your hair. He sculpts it like a master craftsman to your very own liking. I have never had a bad haircut from Billy. To be honest, I've never had a good one either. Every single occasion has been great. Service Over these past few years, I have gotten to know Billy and his lovely wife Shannon well. I went to Billy G's for the first time 2 weeks ago after recently moving to this area from North Jersey. I read the reviews online and believed while Billy may be a great barber that some of these reviews may be overly hyped... I was wrong. Billy is friendly, welcoming and a great barber. He talked me through some options as I wanted to cut my hair a little bit shorter for the Summer and took his time even though he started 10 minutes before closing. Being a barber myself, I have extremely high expectations for the tonsorial arts, Billy not only met them he exceeded them. His wife and him run a very clean and professional shop, kid friendly, easy parking and he uses the razor like a real barber. Kills me when guys say they go to a barber but they're barber doesn't use a razor?? Whenever I'm back east at the shore I know I can get crisp cut here. Being fairly new to town I've auditioned several barber shops. Some were OK, some were just plain bad. Some are more concerned with the music, and some were too hip to really care about the client. And then there's Billy G's Cutting Den. This is what you want when you think of a real barber shop. Shannon cut my hair. She did exactly what I asked and she was very meticulous about making sure everything was perfect. My quest for a new barber is over. I've been having my hair "styled" for many years now. I have used the same person for about the last 10 years or so and was always happy with the job he did on my hair. But I was traveling from Brick to Belmar for every cut. Now I don't mind driving a little to get something that I'm going to be happy with, but I figured there has to be someone more local that can do a good job. So I decided I was going to try to find a local barber shop as opposed to a "salon" and see how it goes. I figured, what's the worse that could happen, a bad haircut? It'll grow back. So I began researching barbers locally using mostly Yelp. I saw Billy G's Cutting Den and read all the reviews and decided that's where I was going to go. I made an appointment with Billy for the next day. The moment I entered the shop I was greeted by Billy's wife Shannon who was very friendly and made me comfortable and feel like I'd been a client for years. I gave her my name and a minute later Billy came out of the back and said "c'mon in" I introduced myself, we shook hands, I sat in the chair and that's when his expertise began. He asked me how I wanted it cut and I said I wasn't sure so we discussed it and I asked for his professional opinion. He gave me his thoughts and I said, "sounds good, let's do it" Then this Master Barber commenced on what became the best haircut experience I ever had. All through the process Billy would pause and ask if what he was doing was ok, or did I want it a little shorter or did I want some bulk taken out. He took his time and made it his business to guarantee that I got what I wanted and that I was going to be happy when he was finished. He was successful on all counts! I walked out of there with a great haircut. Needless to say I will be going back and will recommend his shop whenever I can. On a final note, I have to say that while he was cutting we had a great conversation and many laughs. Billy is a very cordial guy and just like his wife Shannon, i was made to feel very comfortable as though I had been going there for many years.
