I have a good review for the Mechanic Eric . He is a person that listens to the customer and is very understanding and knowledgeable. The owner Billy also but I give a zero rating to Aaron who I understand is Bills,s elder son. He claims to be the owner but in my opinion is a Wanna Be . Senior Billy needs to teach him how to deal with elderly persons. Aaron told me if it was up to him Eric would not be working there . DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!! This place is a complete scam and waste of time and money. Dropped nearly $1,900 on this place in a 3 month span. That guy Eric took advantage of a young 21 year old college student, let me tell you the story. (Also filed a claim against them on BBB website that is posted publicly) I will be the first to admit my car is old, it's a 94 Cadi but I came here March 2019 because my cooling fan wasn't working and he replaced that but also said there was a leak and I needed a new distributor, timing cover gasket, and water pump costing me a total of $797. Of course I didn't want to spend that much but I trusted him and gave him permission to do this (terrible mistake). Went down in April because my A/C wasn't blowing cold air and he tested the car and said there were EPC & TPS issues. He replaced both along with the secondary fan relay and that cost a total of $434 over half of that bill was labor which is just ridiculous. Anyway, I pick up the car and on my way home I stop at a red light and the car starts jurking and then stalls on me. I had to shut the car off and turn it back on in the middle of traffic. I immediately called him and he said "oh well come back down here and we'll test it and see what's going on with it." In my head I'm thinking.. I just dropped all this money just for my car to come out with more problems and he wants me to test my car AGAIN so that he can charge me AGAIN and ultimately not fix the problem. But wait it gets better. My dad is furious with me that I gave this guy a shot to fix my car and he has the right to be. In May I went to 10th street garage and they looked at my car and 30 minutes later they called me and said the opti spark (distributor) was leaking oil on the timing cover gasket and that shouldn't be happening and he told me to take it back wherever I had got it replaced because there should be warranty on it. He also mentioned the parts they used they had be the cheapest parts he has ever seen. So I go to Billy's with my grandpa and we argue about the car and how he has taken advantage of me and he says he can replace the distributor free of charge but only if there is a leak and it would take him at least 4 hours to do so, which is complete BS. My dad tells me to have him fix the leak and that's it! (Dad lives far from me btw) Eric keeps my car and a week passes so i call him and ask for an update and he says he hasn't gotten to my car yet because he's "working on other cars." Talk about great customer service. Few days later he replaces the distributor no charge but charges me for replacing the Intake cover gasket, timing cover gasket, timing chain, oil filter ext. and the total amount of that was a total of $647 literally 80% of that bill was labor which I shouldn't have been charged for considering he had to fix a problem that he should've fixed already back in March. Moral of the story, going here was the biggest mistake I have ever made with my car and i regret it. Ultimately, filing a claim through BBB didn't help either so after a year has passed I decided to just accept the L and I write this to warn people to not make the same mistake I have. I had spoken with Billy the owner regarding transmission work and what the worst and best case scenarios would be for a new, used, or rebuilt transmission for the make and model of my vehicle. I was given a price on the low end at $1200, to rebuild it barring any major electrical work, and $1500 if there was more extensive damage on the rebuild. This price had sounded far good to be true considering no other shop in Ocala or the surrounding areas working on transmissions quoted a price in that ball park for a rebuild. Turners Transmissions who had seen the vehicle, did whoever given a written estimate of $1600 for a used transmission, but that wasn't the route I wanted to go particularly after having spoken with Billy via the phone he said used is used and expect at that, and that he could rebuild the transmission correctly and at a better price. I took my vehicle in, and it was inspected. Staff is friendly, the owner was out of the office when I brought my vehicle in, and actually we never met barring when I paid for the work done which I'll get to. The shop is dated and the lot most closely resembles a salvage yard. The technician thought it could be a simple wiring issue to the transmission, and we went with the most parsimonious route in the initial diagnostic. Things that I found bothersome, for the work the tech did he couldn't remember the price quoted to me and had to guesstimate. It also wasn't clearly outlined on the invoice of which I paid $135 for a repair and labor, but what was repaired wasn't listed. I was also then quoted that to fix my transmission with a "used" not rebuilt transmission would be $1900. This price particularly for a used transmission is not better than their competitors or what was spoken of prior to having my vehicle towed to Billy's shop by Billy the owner himself. I decided to go with my guy feeling and not have any further work done with Billy's and will not bring any of my other vehicles serviced with them. I will say the staff are friendly however, but what you're quoted by Billy who is fast talking and personable just might be not be in the same ball park let alone as competitive as some of the other shops in town.
