BEWARE IF YOU ORDER FROM THEM! First let me say that I have been in the business my own design company for over 40 years and I am a Licensed Interior Designer. I ordered a dining table from Lake and Mountain Home last July. It finally came after MANY phone calls to them a few days before Thanksgiving 2020 which was always the target date. It had the wrong base,(I sent a photograph of table I wanted when I ordered), I was willing to let that go but the table was also NOT dining height being 33"h. You feel like your chin is on the table. I was promised a solution many times by the owner Tom Bingham (28 text messages, many phone calls and emails) a year later nothing has happened. Now the table also has developed another issue with the finish, the wood is bleeding through the white paint on the base and cause brown/yellow streaks down the base. This was not an inexpensive table. Mr. Bingham is always full of excuses as to why they have not taken cared of the problems. He and his staff use the pandemic as an excuse for everything. I say many people continued to operate during that time and if you can not properly full fill orders do not take them in the first place or you could of given me my money back at anytime when I requested it. Their customer service is very poor. If you look online you will see other reviews on yahoo and other places for people having the same problems I have had. If no stars was an option, I would have used this. Be careful, they scammed us. We made a $1600 deposit on a custom piece of furniture, they never made it nor would they return the money. When we went to make our deposit by credit card, they said their cc machine was broken, and asked that we pay by check. They claim that they never received the check, so we paid by Venmo (Purchase Protection added) After more than 6 months of no progress on the furniture, we asked to cancel and the owner, Tom, said yes, but after 6 weeks, we never received the money. We sued them in Small Claims Court in NH and won the case on default (they never answered). We are now going to collect via the courts. By the way, Venmo's policy is that you need to make a claim within 6 months. Ours fell outside 6 months. Stay away, for your own sake. I am not going to let go of this on principle as scammers shouldn't get away with this. Shame on you Tom! read more

Horrible company to deal with. Tom is extremely rude- out of touch with customers and lead times. Never ever buy here- unless you want issues with finish on tung oil products. Improperly coated and refusal to fix. Delivery times never accurate 4-6weeks means well over 12weeks and when questioned timing of delivery after they cancelled a number of times. Finally Tom threatened me verbally and cancelled my order after 12 week wait. Unreal experience- never had a company be so terrible to deal along with Tom who truly does not care about any customers. I really hope all potential customers read this review and others prior to deciding to do business with this company. Please do NOT waste your time or money with this dishonest company. I ordered floors back in September and was told 4-5 weeks lead time. 8 weeks later was told that that the floors were finally in and would be delivered in the next week. 4 promised delivery dates later over the next 4 weeks, with NO shows on all delivery dates, lack of communication and multiple mismatched stories on many different occasions, I still do NOT have the floors I ordered! They would set the delivery date, and then no call no show, or call me and tell me they were running late but was assured by Tom that they were still coming and then still not show up. After multiple calls and texts last night with no response after the fourth set delivery with no one showing up, I was called this morning and ironically told that the floors were damaged on the delivery truck last night and they would need to start my order all over again from scratch! I have now wasted 2 months of time waiting for floors when it seems as though, they never had my floors at all! This has been the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with, and feel that Tom has a pathological lying issue. Please do yourself a favor and NOT do business with this unethical, dishonest company. read more

I am an interior design and ordered a custom table for my client. After giving Bingham Lumber a deposit of $1200, I was showed a finished table that looked nothing like the sample I had previously approved. I asked Bingham Lumber to fix the stain on the table to match the sample swatch they gave me. They refused my numerous requests for them to fix the table and repeatedly ignored all my emails. We drove over to this place to look for reclaimed lumber. When we walked in both of the people working in the front were on the phone so we just looked around at the items in the front lobby. A few minutes later the woman was off the phone and came over asked what we were looking for. We told her we're looking for reclaimed wood to make a table. She then told us "We don't sell reclaimed wood for YOU to make a table!" I can give you a business card of a person that does make reclaimed tables. I guess we didn't look like we could make or even know what we were doing!!! My husband has made lots of furniture which is beautiful and she was very offensive. Do not do business with Bingham Lumber. Very dishonest people. Unfortunately, I paid for in advance in Sept 2020 for a custom wood beam to be made for one of my customers, and my order has still not been delivered or available for me to pick up. Originally, Bingham Lumber made several excuses why they could not deliver my order, but now they won't respond to my calls. It has now been over 4.5 months. Tom Bingham (owner) states he cancelled my order back in November 2020 because he could not provide the product I ordered, but he still refuses to refund my money back to my credit card. read more

I hope by writing this review it can at least help someone avoid the pain and loss that I had to go through. While we were originally impressed by the showroom and meeting Tom Bingham and decided to do business with them on flooring, Fir ceilings, shiplap walls and barn wood for a new home build, when it actually came time to get the products that is where the troubles started. Wrong material delivered, broken promises over and over again on deliveries, making it right, etc. Weeks turned into months. Finally decided to cancel the flooring and ceiling portion of order and requested money back. At first tried saying it was non-refundable, despite none of the paperwork saying that. Then full acknowledgement of owing the money, but weeks of promises of a refund that never came. Finally sued in small claims court. Won easily, but still nothing paid back and that was over a year ago. Waiting on the courts to give court date for payment plan. Over $8k+ of money he is keeping from my family. RUN, don't be lulled into the trap of thinking this is a reputable business. read more

My husband and I bought our first home a couple of years ago. We primarily furnished the home from consignment store furniture, yard/estate sales, and the furniture we had from our prior apartments due to budgeting after a home purchase. But we did decide to splurge and buy ourselves a nice dining room table and hutch for our dining room as a housewarming gift to ourselves. These pieces were expensive, but we decided it was worth it because we were able to custom design exactly what we wanted, and they were absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, within months, the table has a huge crack down the middle of it, and the hutch has several cracks. Also the subtle rub through has left the hutch looking nearly yellow / not white. We would be fine with the discoloration, but the cracks just are not acceptable at all! We have reached out several times, with only a couple of replies recommending that we use a humidifier in the room (which we do, and that is clearly not the issue). I am so frustrated that our voices are not being heard. Even if we cannot get any money refunded, we would like some help with how to repair this furniture. This is our dining room, which we expected to be our most special place for having family and friends, and it looks like old beat up furniture. You can literally see the carpet through the crack it is so large. I'm really disappointed and not sure where to go from here. No one is helping us, and we cannot afford to start over / don't know the best way to repair this custom furniture. Unfortunately, I would recommend that people avoid this company. read more

The woman who helped me seemed genuinely interested in my project and helping me find what I needed. They have a lovely dog who greets customers as they enter the showroom. Unfortunately, Bingham Lumber/NH Rocks has chosen to not honor its financial obligations to its suppliers. Have reached out and contacted the company, specifically Chuck and Tom Bingham, repeatedly over the coarse of the last 7-8 months regarding an outstanding invoice (totaling $2,692.50) for materials purchased from M.O'Mahoney Company in July 2017. Although there were no issues with the product and their customer completed the project, they have not paid the invoice and ignored any of our attempts at contacting them. If you work with this company as a supplier, beware of any Accounts Receivables you may have with them. They are not reliable and unfortunately not reputable in paying their financial obligations. If you are purchasing from this company, be wary that they may have taken advantage of other companies in procuring your products. read more

Good wood, terrible customer service. My husband and I have bought a lot of lumber from this place, but no more. Their returns policy is not particularly clear: be sure to find it on their website and read it carefully. (Restocking fee is very high). And watch out if you have to deal with a younger person. I know Millennials have little social skills and have difficulty interacting with human beings, but the person I dealt with was horrendous. She intimated that I lied and that the receipt I had was bogus. Even though I had previously clarified my situation with her higher up and gotten permission to return the products (I had email proof of this), she acted like she didn't believe me. There was never a hint of apology or wanting to make right the situation. Just haughtiness and arguing. So while they have very good wood at a fair price, they also have some pretty offensive customer "service." read more

A good review is easy to do. A bad review takes some effort and in most cases you just want to put it behind you and move on. Doing business with the owner Tom Bingham of Bingham Lumber was such a horrible experience I am willing to expend the energy to help others avoid the same experience. Tom is not just a liar but in my opinion he is a pathological liar and makes no apologies for it. Don Bingham is no doubt turning over in his grave. His creed written in the history on Binghams website of " quality lumber at a fair price with good HONEST service" is not being upheld.Our builder who has been in business for over 25 years has stated that never dealt with anyone close to Tom's dishonesty. We ordered our reclaimed wood from Bingham back in Nov 2020. At that time Tom assured us that Covid had not affected their business and with this lead time he would have no problem getting and finishing the wood to be delivered in late March,2021. I called Tom in January and was told he had the wood and that everything was all set for delivery. Since then it has been a wack a mole series of lies; ie we cannot find your wood,we found it but it was mistakenly put on a delivery to Cape Cod, to North Carolina, to New Jersey. The reclaimed wood had been exposed to the elements for too long Tom did not feel comfortable giving it to us and preferred starting from scratch. Hard to imagine how he could come up with 1600 board feet of the same reclaimed wood on such short notice. The delivery had to be delayed four times as he was not satisfied with the finishing or it needed more time to cure. I told Tom that I would like to see the wood before delivery and he said the finishing was being done by a company in southern Vermont. Initially Tom has told us all finishing was done at the Bingham shop. I asked for the address and number of the finishing company which he declined to provide. He offered instead to send pictures which he never did. I told Tom at this point all I want is honesty so I could plan ahead and avoid any further delays on our home building. With this request Tom gave me two personal guarantees of delivery that he would stake his reputation on which speaks for itself as no delivery was made. You cannot trust this man and I suggest you do business elsewhere. There are plenty of reputable companies nearby who are well aware of the problems at Bingham as they have had to help pick up the pieces from many of their former customers. Just read the more recent reviews and see the trend. The Bingham employees cover for him ,will not answer any questions and refer all to Tom. He will no doubt have a rebuttal to this entry citing Covid, his suppliers etc. as he is a master of excuses. BUYER BEWARE! Do not order any custom furniture! Read chronology to understand: 11/8/19 Ordered custom trestle table by phone with Charlie. Told 8 -10 weeks to receive. Credit card charged but no receipt sent out. 12/3/19 Emailed Charlie requesting receipt. No response 12/10/189 Called Heather to get copy of receipt and inquire on process. Bingham Lumber to call when closer. Receipt emailed. 1/12/20 Emailed Heather and Charlie indicating we are now 10 weeks out and inquire on status. Also inquired about finish sample approval. No response. 1/17/20 Called to check on status of order. Told would get a call back. No call back. 1/25/20 Received email from Heather indicating finish sample is in mail 1/31/20 Emailed Heather to confirm finish is good 2/2/20 Emailed Heather inquiring as to status of table. No reply. 2/5/20 Called to check on status of order. Spoke with Tom. He didn't have details but was told I would get a call back. No call back. 2/7/20 Called to check on status of order. Spoke with Tom. He didn't have details but I was told would get a call back. 2/7/20 Received call from Tom. He indicated table running few weeks behind 2/20/20 Emailed Charlie and Heather indicating 15 weeks out now with no word on table and requesting a phone call on status. No reply. 2/21/20 Called Bingham Lumber and spoke with Charlie. He indicated table scheduled to be delivered March 3rd. 2/21/20 Sent follow-up email to Charlie requesting to confirm delivery date a few days ahead and to share shipping cost. No reply. 2/28/20 Called Charlie but got Tom to confirm shipping. Said ready to go and will be there on 3/2. Bingham to deliver and no outside shipper. He requested I be there to help driver. I Indicated I would take vacation to receive 3/2 and to help driver. I asked for pictures before shipping to confirm item is correct. He indicated he would send those right away. No pictures sent. 3/2/20 Called Tom to confirm 3/3 delivery. He needed to confirm and would call back. No call back. 3/2/20 Called Tom again to confirm 3/3 delivery. Tom to call back. 3/2/20 Tom called. Date now changed to first thing morning of 3/5. I indicated I will switch my vacation to 3/5. Asked about pictures and he said he would send them immediately. No pictures. 3/5/20 Called Tom as no delivery as of 8:19 am. Indicated he was calling driver to get update. Tom called back at 9:03 to indicate delivery just after lunch. Called Tom at 2:07 as no delivery still. He indicated he is calling driver but having difficulty getting ahold of him. 3:18 Tom called and said still delayed but is now on way to our house and will be here in 90 minutes. Driver will call me in 10 minutes. No driver call. 5:27 still no delivery and called Tom. He indicated he was going to call driver. 5:40 Tom called and my wife answered. Tom indicated he can't get ahold of driver. My wife indicated table needs to be here in 10 minutes or we are involving law enforcement: we believe there is no table. Hang up. 5:42 Tom called me and indicated he was not willing to fulfill purchase as he was threatened (used foul language). He took my credit card again, and texted photos of credit receipt. Stopped in to buy a reclaimed wood fireplace mantle but all of their pieces were too big or too small. The two guys in the back told me I could cut one down. This is after they already cut 2 other pieces for other customers who got their ahead of me. The older sales guy handed me a slip, and told me the lady inside would ring me up. This was after he marked up the wood with a marker on numerous sides. The sales lady scolded me for not getting a fully completed slip and told me they don't cut that wood. I am not sure what they plan on doing with a now damaged block of wood but they obviously don't communicate with one another and customer service isn't a priority. She was downright rude. read more

Warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not buy from Lake and Mountain Home/Bingham Lumber under any circumstances. They do shoddy work, charge top dollar, and refuse to take responsibility for poor craftsmanship. We custom ordered an oak table and paid for "white glove" shipping, totaling $5,400 for only the table. They have a shipping contract with Plycon and after 11 weeks to make our table, Plycon delivered a damaged table. Plycon did not call ahead but just showed up. Good thing my neighbor was here to help with the delivery cuz their 2 man team could not handle this wood. The table required assembly but this team threw the top on the base and left. So much for "white glove delivery" we paid Lake and Mountain Home for. Btw, they tried to hold the table hostage prior to delivery by upping the shipping price another $500. at the last minute when $800 plus had already been paid in full for delivery. It took 2 months for owner Tom to agree the table was damaged beyond repair and agreed to pick it up. They again sent the incapable Plycon team. Plycon picked up the table in March and still hasn't delivered the table to the furnishing company in NH. It's been 4 months and Plycon has no idea where the table is. On April 22, we sent the owner of Lake and Mountain Home "Tom Bingham" a request for our money back. Tom has refused to reimburse us because they blame Plycon for destroying the table during the delivery nor have they brought it back to the store. Instead, all we get are excuses, arguing, and the run-around from Tom. Neither Lake and Mountain Home/Bingham Lumber or Plycon will answer our calls nor have we been reimbursed. So essentially, we've given them $5,400. for a damaged table we do not have. We're 11 months into this disaster, our dining room is still empty, Tom refuses to communicate at all or follow through with any apts for phone calls, emails, or contact from his attorney. No one wants to take responsibility for the damaged table and both companies feel it's ok to screw the customer. They've forced our hand now by refusing to communicate and make customer satisfaction a priority. How long would you wait for a dining room table? read more

Showroom is great, salespeople are great, product is great. However they tried to deliver wood flooring in the rain, after telling me that morning they wouldn't when I called specifically because of the forecast. Moisture is a big deal with wood flooring and I expected better service. My contractor got mad and wouldn't take delivery of the wood in the rain, especially since it had to be carried around the property to its final destination. The owner wouldn't apologize or make it right, instead he made an issue of my contractor's behavior and played games with how I would ever get my delivery. I love the floor, but wouldn't use them again because the post-sales support was horrible. That's the last thing you need when you're in the middle of a renovation. read more

Our summer lake cabin in NH was destroyed in 2016 by a huge hemlock. It had been in the family for many years so its loss was keenly felt. Rebuilding was bittersweet. Wanting to recreate our cabin which echoed "camps" so common in NH in the 1940's and 50's, we wanted rustic floors. Bingham has an incredible selection in all types of woods, cuts and widths. It also provides many types of finishes which I highly recommend. For the downstairs, we opted for pine which had been "kerfed" giving it a rustic, used look. It was finished with tung oil which has a wonderful patina. Upstairs we used pine with a poly finish. For the stairs we used gorgeous hickory and on the enclosed porch overlooking the lake, we selected reclaimed heartwood pine which is stunning in a tung oil finish. Friend after friend, craftsman after craftsman compliment our flooring. Prices were excellent and delivery was as promised. We worked with Holly who was knowledgeable and a lot of fun. With modern upgrades, our summer home has now been elevated from a cabin to a cottage but no matter what type of home you are building, Bingham will be able to meet your needs. We highly recommend Bingham Lumber. read more
