This store is located at the end of a shopping center and is easy to find. Upon arriving, there were a lot of cigarettes in the parking lot and upon entering, the whole store smelled of cigarettes and made it hard to stroll inside. The prices are a bit steeper than the other oriental stores there. It is clean and orderly but I just couldn't get over the smell of cigarettes. I don't know if I would return. read more

Been here twice, twice too many times. Both times workers were rude. Not helpful, and acted like they resented me being there. Perhaps racist, is this store a front?, I have no idea; but customer service is not their strength. I went there for báhn mì sandwiches. Not sure why I went back. The sandwich both times was very much lacking and expensive. Most items in store are expensive. If you go, make sure you check the date in products to make sure they are not expired! I've been shopping here since they were located up on Boonville north of Chestnut. Their prices are most often better than either of the other Oriental groceries in Springfield. I would give five stars if the staff was just a bit more friendly and helpful. People have mentioned a nasty smell in the store, which is just the smell of dry fish and they're not used to it. read more

Wow... Springfield has an Asian Grocery! Today, I took my neices to look around Binh Tay Asian Grocery and while they were chattering about, I picked up some basics. I was surprised the price was quite decent since they probably have little competition in this area. Anyway, it was just a little market on the west side of Sunshine but, it stocked things you'd probably have to go to St.Louis or KC to find if it weren't there. read more

This place has a wide variety of tea, produce, dried, fresh, and frozen ingredients. The fresh vegetables and meat are particularly good, and difficult to find elsewhere. In particular they always seem to have a good supply of fresh Thai basil. The staff is always friendly as well. read more

Fresh food and veggie come in every Thursday afternoon. Some week they will have live blue crab and crawfish. They have a lot of rare veggie and ingredients(more on Southeast Asian cuisine). Big selection of household products, noodles, worship stuffs and bamboo plants. The owners are very nice and helpful, however you will need to check expiration date before by stuff. read more

Of all the Asian markets in Springfield, this store by far is the most authentically Asian. From their products to their attitude. Lol. I have been going to Binh Tay since 2013 and they really are not sociable people. But I am ok with that. I am Asian and I understand. Having said that, my American husband on the other hand feels offended that the female owner does not even look up when he asks a question and he feels like he is being snubbed. She does come across as very condescending but take heart, she is like that to EVERYONE. Even other Asians. So, it is her particular idiosyncrasy and not an Asian trait at all. Where I come from, everybody has a wonderful smile for everyone and very accommodating - both to locals and foreigners. I do not know why she is like that but I don't care. I wish there were more Asian Markets in Springfield. I frequent the 2 on South Campbell. I tried this one today. everything i bought was way expired. unfortunately i didn't notice until i got home. This place is a garbage dump of old products from what i saw. The candy i bought had an expiration date of 2019 and it is 2021. i tasted a piece, spit it out and threw everything in the trash. i will never return. I can't believe this place is still operating. yuck! it also stinks inside the store. like really bad. read more

HI. I don't like causing trouble for local businesses, but if there is a problem with one then people should know. I stopped by Binh Tay on West Sunshine to get some hot mustard since no other stores around Springfield seem to carry it. When I arrived it was 10 am, their opening time. I stood there baking in the hot sun for 10-15 minutes while the owner-lady was stocking shelves. She saw me there and ignored me for a good bit before finally letting me in, refused to look at me or greet me when she did, then went back to her work. I found all this to be odd but I am a laid-back person, so whatever. But then when I failed to find the mustard sauce and asked where it was, she aggressively stood up and started shouting/pointing from over where she was, "RIGHT THERE, RIGHT THERE, RIGHT THERE, RIGHT THERE" in a really volatile way. Since she was so far away I couldn't tell where she meant, plus I was flustered by her unwarranted aggression, so then she walked halfway to it and repeated the shouting/pointing even more angrily. She was indicating the mustard powder. I was unfamiliar with it so I asked how to turn it into sauce and she screamed "I DON'T KNOW!"(of course she knew!), again never looking up from her shelf-stocking. I purchased the powder, said thank you and she just glared at me maliciously. I was respectful, courteous and did nothing to provoke all of this. OK so...not being too keen on engaging in pleasantries can be attributed to cultural differences, whatever. But this high level of aggression and EXTREME rudeness? Does she not understand that if you treat customers this way, they will stop spending money there? Or is she trying to make it clear that only Asians are welcome to shop there since they are not allowed to put up a sign saying that? If they come here for a better life, they should show respect to the people who already live here, or at least indifference would be a big step up from this!!! Unprovoked hostility and hatred were my experience at Binh Tay. I think I will start buying my hot mustard online but still go into their store just to peruse, ask questions, maybe get a video of the fury, and buy nothing. LOL! read more
