The staff here is very friendly and personable. If you can't find something they're always willing to help or let you know when it will be restocked next. There's always a wide variety of products that have lots of variation in brand and type which is really nice. Stopped by on our way to get food and boy this place has everything you need. I think they carry more items then my local Korean grocery store in my town! Lot of their items are from Chicago, and it's not cheap. I would recommend you review the expiration dates though, stores like these in midwest tend to keep expired items on shelf, so shoppers beware! read more

I don't know where the "friendly customer serivce" is that everyone speaks of, but it wasn't there today. Besides bring followed by the owner but not approached, NO ONE ever said a word to us except the Mexican guy stocking the shelves. Yay! I'm so glad that Springfield has a great Asian grocery store like this! It's big, clean, well organized and has a variety of selection from all over Asia. Prices are higher than they are in Cali but, I guess they have to import them further and have much less competition so, it's a sellers market! I happened across this treasure the other day while I was waiting for my mom's dental appt to end and was sad that I wasn't going directly home because that limited what I could buy. I'll be back though, because they have ingredients to some dishes I like to make that I thought I couldn't make in MO. Plus, they have veggies, fruits, and frozen selections that I love (like steam dumplings, dim sum treats, mochi ice creams and so on). They have just about everything you can need when preparing Asian cuisine, and tons of ice cream, mochi, and knick knacks. We visit frequently and love to learn about Asian culture through their food. read more

I love stopping at Seoul Oriental Market for a visit, even though I pretty much never have a real purpose for going; thus, I also have no idea if the prices are good or not. Also, despite it being a huge and very authentic Asian market, I always find it full of people from all demographic backgrounds. That being said, it's a great place to go if you're a) looking for a dose of insta-culture, b) interested in seeing items that are relatively unique inside the city limits of SGF, or c) looking for something genuine to cook or cook with. Although I don't (currently) cook traditional Asian or Asian-inspired dishes, I love coming here just to gawk at the whole frozen octopuses, squid and chickens they carry in the back, as well as the rows and rows of Kimchi. I also love checking out the varieties of Mochi, which sort of reminds me of marzipan. Seoul also carries a lot of neat non-edible products, from woks to chopsticks to toiletries. At the very least, everyone can appreciate the one or two vast aisles of Asian sweet treats (like Pocky) and soda beverages. ALSO, there are massive gallon containers of Sriracha here, if you're one of those Sriracha psychos. Personally, Seoul continually inspires me to learn to make Asian dishes I love so much, but in the mean time, I like to come here and collect unique items to take home and try. Great selection of various Asian foods, cookware, etc. Very little English labeling (as is typical), so you have to know what you are looking for. Produce comes in on Thursdays (lucky me!) and there is a good selection. Many hard to find "exotic" items such as Korean radish, daikon, Burdock root, red pepper paste, and many others. The prices are reasonable as far as markets are concerned. I would have given 5 stars had the staff been more friendly and helpful. read more

This is my favorite market for so many specialty items for almost 20 years (ever since they were located in the old strip mall behind Andy's near Sunset)! When I have time I love to just walk through and take in the sights and smells of EVERYTHING they have- and the owners are always very nice and will answer questions for you. "Expired food" Visited here while I was on a business trip last week. Saw one of my favorite snacks from my childhood. After eating a handful of it, my friend pointed out that it was EXPIRED On December 13, 2016. Come on...... really? Not sure who inspects their package or food. This is at least 9 months passed. They have everything. You may not know what it is, but they have it. You can get wasabi in small, medium, and you no longer have the top of your head size. There are mysterious fruits and scary frozen deep sea creatures. Pocky, pocky, and more pocky. They also don't make fun of you when you ask for help or ask what something is. The only way this store could improve is for me to know what I'm cooking for dinner so I could buy what I need. read more

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not educated on Asian cooking or cuisine but I love this place. I've found spices, new sodas, and a bunch of other cooking ingredients that I've seen in recipes and never knew where to find them. I especially enjoyed the good selection of Korean items in addition to the products from other origins. Excellent produce selection! Despite the chocolate item I bought being sub par due to obviously melting and re-forming in its package, that happens - and I will definitely be back. For Springfield, East East is a pretty good market. They have a wide selection of Asian foods, mostly being Korean and Japanese. Their prices are a bit high though, but they have a more concentrated selection of cooking supplies. If I were looking for snacks though, I would check out the Japanese Gift Market on Glenstone. read more

You can find great oriental vegetables and some frozen fishes here! You better to come this store on Wednesday or Thursday to have most- fresh vegetables and crabs,oriental bakery as well.- I found their deliveries are mostly Wed or Thursday. read more

Very nice selection! I picked up a GIGANTIC fish here. And a big bag of bean sprouts because those things are delicious. And some aloe juice, and blueberry tea, and jellyfish. Never tried jellyfish or even seen it for sale anywhere, so I'll see how it is. Nice thing about these stores, they sell stuff I can't find anywhere else. They've also got whole...was it duck or goose? It was in the Anatidae family, I know that. Besides the meat selection, there's also a lot of condiments, drinks, snacks, and canned goods. read more

I just returned to the US after living in Korea for three years so when I came across this store while driving through town I was curious and had to stop to take a look. I was expecting just a small selection at high prices but I was very surprised to find that the inside of this shop resembled my neighborhood store back in Seoul! The selection was very big, there was just about everything you might need to whip up a Korean feast. I would say the only thing it was lacking was on the snacks and drinks sections (no banana milk!) _ but otherwise I was pleased and left with a few ingredients to cook with at home. I have been going here for a couple years . I was happy to tears when we found this gem. I have to travel almost 2 hrs so I stock up when I go. Have gone to other oriental food markets in St Louis but was disappointed with their selections and prices and freshness compared to Seoul Mart. Great selection, helpful staff , seasonal specials, even seeds in the spring which grew fantastically. I look up recipes ahead and get ingredients to tide us over for a couple months. Their fresh produce is lovely and fresh but not huge- I'll take fresh over huge, come on delivery day for best selection . Friendly on the phone also . We really love this place! It has everything under the sun, from Ramune to mochi and mochi. Most of the time the prices are decent, but sometimes there are a few things that seem to high. the noodles and sauces, however, are great priced and large, so you can stock up. Also, you can get cheap bulk rice here, of many varieties. I kind of love the north wall with the odds and ends, like the tea sets and things like this. give it a try, I love giving this place my business. probably the best asian market in southwest MO. most of the prices are reasonable. wide selection of products including some hard to find fresh produce. all of the meats and fish are frozen, but still good quality. they're always busy stocking the shelves, so it's rare for a product to be totally sold out. it's worth a visit. read more
