Old World vs New World Wine Event Review! I visited Binny Geneva for one of their recent wine events. The store itself is rather large but the event space is smaller. All of the tasting tables were featured in the event space which made it hard to hear staff talk about the wine. There were a total of 4 tables which was about half the amount as other events I've gone to. This meant that most people were done sampling at the one hour mark when the event was supposed to be two hours long. Wines ranged from $10-$30 with a couple around the $50 mark. The wines were good but nothing that blew me away. I wish the event sheet listed the wine in order as we were supposed to taste as well as list the region it was from. It would have been a lot easier to follow along! The food display was one of the better ones given for variety. Overall, it's always a fun time to try wines I wouldn't normally try! Huge fan of Binny's! I find them to be great place with great prices and outstanding customer service! Today I went to this particular store because they had the beer I was looking for! I called and I could tell that it's busy the woman, Diana was so patient with me because I'm pretty sure I said the name wrong but grab the last 12 pack and held it at the front till I got there. Then she help me find a few other fun beverages along with Alan. He was so knowledgeable on so many different flavors of alcohol. I was blown away. How does the saying go "a kid in a candy store". Updated to "an adult in a beer store". I'm not much for hard liquor anymore but do enjoy trying new styles of beer from various breweries. Queue Binny's to help realize that dream. I've seen other local liquor stores that carry as much or even more styles of beer, but Binny's does have some unique styles that I haven't been able to find elsewhere. They also specialize in several IL microbreweries that I enjoy. On my first trip into the new location in Geneva, I found myself grabbing a basket for the beer I wanted, scratch that, needed to buy. Went to a one of their wine tastings a few weeks back. Sparkling wine tasting. Very classy, you are tasting wine from real wine glasses instead of those cheap plastic ones you get at Savway. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting was amazing each vendor was knowledgeable about their wines. You can always get a fair price at Binnys plus they offered an additional 10% saving on the event day. read more

This Binny's has one of the best selections of craft beer I have ever seen. It has everything that you could possibly want, organized logically and priced fairly. It's also one of the only locations (that I know of) that sells my beloved Drekker sour beers. They also ventured out into their own line of spirits, called Clark & Sheffield. Their vodka is reasonably priced and pretty good in a Bloody Mary. One star off because of the location - I HATE going into Geneva Commons and the parking lot situation is always a nightmare. So when I go, I make my trip worth it to deal with all the mall crazies. read more

There's something about Binny's. All the stores that I've visited have staff and management that display a very arrogant and dismissive attitude. This store especially. An example. I love bourbon. Like many other bourbon lovers, Buffalo Trace products are my favorite. They are very popular these days. The issue is I've been successful purchasing many BT products, ie. Eagle Rare, Weller and Blantons from surrounding liquor stores/departments, and never, not once over many years has Binnys ever had them in stock. When I inquired yesterday, the store manager displayed an attitude and essentially lied, saying they put it on the shelves when they get it, but they hadn't gotten any. Totally BS. I know that BT delivered a huge supply this week. I'm certain they horde it for themselves and who they perceive as their best customers. Because of this practice I buy my wine, beer and other products from Savway. Better prices, more honest prices, and locally owned. Oh, and yes, I've been successful buying BT products from them too. read more

Benny's new location is beautiful. It is very large, clean, and well lit. They have a great selection. My only issue is they never seem to have any hard to find items or seasonal releases of bourbon. It always seems to be the same normal stock. Bennys does have excellent prices. Im from the south. Benny's sells normal bottles for 10-25% cheaper. read more

Great selection on everything. My nit is the guy in the humidor makes me feel so stupid if I ask any questions. I asked if they had a case of a particular cigar and he looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language and just shook his head. Bad return policy. I go to the Binny's in Geneva on a regular basis and usually everything is good there. Prices competitive and staff knowledgeable. Today, I went in asked to get credit for a couple of single serving size bottles of Ruffino Rose Prosecco that were flat. They said they couldn't give credit because there was no liquid in the bottle. I guess I need to drive with open liquor to satisfy their return policy. read more

This place is like an awesome candy store for adults. Row upon row of wine, beer, and all the hard liquor you could imagine. Plus some tempting mixers and yummy snack and garnish options. On top of that, the staff I encountered told me more about regional breweries than I ever thought I wanted to know. Nice IPA recommendations from a few different people there. Sales scam!! I went in there for their big sale on the Cuervo strawberry margarita 1.75 bottle. It was a great sale, except they were out!! 12:00 in the afternoon and they are out, on a Saturday!! They have mountains of vodka but they feature a product on sale, on a shelf, that holds 6 bottles??? Come on...... They said I could buy some tequila and some strawberry mix, at over twice the cost. This happened to me, at this store, on Octoberfest beer. They ran out of the 12 pack and they wouldn't honor the price if you bought 2/6 packs. I'm done with Binnys. Okay, it just opened, so cut them some slack. I will say that just as the Geneva Sav-Way starts to cut back on the beer selection ("It's not selling!"), Binny's comes in and b***h-slaps them with 5x the amount of beer. God, it could take all winter just to taste all the Belgian Ales! Add to that an improving gourmet section. See Jeff, the cheese-sommelier for some great cheeses tastings and let him pair your Zin with a killer Brie, or your porter with a monster Gouda. You'll recognize Jeff -- he has a distinct resemblance to the late Vince Schiavelli (the subway ghost in "Ghost") only with a goatee. Wine selection is tremendous, and the cordial selection is equal to the beer selection. The humidor is the weak spot, with seemingly little organization and almost no assistance available in terms of ratings, etc. Thank God I know what I want! Best liquor store in the area, hands down. The staff are all friendly and if not knowledgeable themselves, able to steer you in the direction of the right person. In addition to a large selection of booze, they also have a little deli case that has some first rate cheeses: Brie, 10 yr cheddar, Chevre, etc..all perfect for my friend and my wine and cheese night. They usually have samples of some treat and offer plenty of samples of whatever you may be interested in, minus any attitude you may get when sampling elsewhere. The wine selection is amaaazing. After a stop @ St. Julian's Winery in MI I was obsessed with Blue Heron and lo and behold..Binny's has it. But what don't they have? They also have nasty Rock & Rye that my dad had me start drinking when I was sick. Ew, it's terrible but if you're desperate to clear up a cold, give it a try (you have to drink it warm out of a brandy snifter, this stuff STINKS). However, the parking is ample, the staff is friendly, and the prices are competitive. It's annoying to go to a liquor store only to have them not carry something and have to make another stop. Here, there are choices galore and plenty of mixers, cordials, and garnishes to boot. The wine chiller is also dope, I love being able to have anything cold as opposed to most stores where a limited selection is chilled. Any time I need a specific wine to pair with the dinner I'm cooking for company I know right away Im going to find it at Binnys, any time my husband and I want to get drunk with the neighbors before heading on a golf outing, I know Binny's is going to get us booming those clubs. It truly is like a warehouse of liquor, all housed in a delicate wooden racked littler store! This place has THE biggest and most fabulous collection of wines, beer, and straight up booze, for us lovers! It's also a treat that they have little stations through out the store to help you get your swerve on as you're navigating the happy aisles! Beer is good, beer is good... And stuff! Biiny's is THE place to go for the beginning of any night that results in your liver working overtime! Their selection is unbelievable, quality unsurpassable and the employees more know than you about everything. Ever. (Booze related of course.) The only complaint I could muster up is that their prices aren't the greatest, if you are feeling motivated you can find a better price at Jewel, Dominicks or the local liquor store. But, let's be honest, their selection is lacking compared to Binny's and the overall awe-inspiring experience that is Binny's is worth the extra dollar or 2. I love to stop in here around once every two months and snoop around. My youngest son loves the beer selection on the first aisle. I'm into the Scotch aisle and occasionally the wine selection areas. I even found some Apple Korn we used to drink in Germany so many years ago. My problem here is that I can occasionally spend more than what I should be spending. I attend the Chicago Highland Festival each year and go into the Whiskey Live tent. I usually find a couple of Whiskeys that I've not had before and like. I am a big fan of Binny's, and this one is a particularly good location. It's always well stocked with a wide variety of wines, spirits and beers. Wines are sorted by region, which I appreciate, and Binny's usually places tags with tasting notes on any bottles that have been rated particularly well by Wine Spectator. The staff at the wine desk are very knowledgeable as well. I have twice gone to Binny's looking for a particular kind of red wine (say, for example, a Napa cab with high alcohol but low tannins), and the staff has been able to point me to the perfect wine each time. Binny's also has very reasonable prices, and those who have a Binny's card can usually save money on their purchases. If you spend over $500 in wine purchases (over time), you receive a 2% rebate as well. I think what really sets this Binny's apart from others is the friendliness of the staff. The people who work at this location are genuinely helpful, polite and pleasant. If you're in the market for some booze, this Binny's really is the place to go. read more

Can't see us coming back here. My wife fell in love with a White Zinfandel, Canyon Road. Admittedly inexpensive, but she likes it. We called right before Thanksgiving to see if they had it. After being on hold some time while they checked, we were told they discontinued carrying it however could order it for us but we had to pay ahead. My wife does not like doing that over phone, so we went in about a week later to do it. Now the problem starts. Getting someone to wait on us was next to impossible. They only have one computer to use between 3 associate in the wine area so they have to wait to get access. The first person we asked said it was discontinued. We knew that and had told them that when they started looking. They said there was no way to order it. We told them what we were told, they said no one here said that and walked away. REALLY? We just drove 20 some miles for nothing? After leaving I called and talked to the manager, who said he was sorry and asked if we could give him a day or two to see what he could do. Good to his word, he called us back on Monday and said he could get it but we would have to come in and pay. I reminded him we had done that once and been burned. He agreed to order it and call us when it came in. We said we would try to stop by if in the area in next day or two and were told not to worry about it till it came in. That was one week after thanks giving. We are now 1 week into the new year and now not getting call backs. You got 4 stars for selection, lost 2 for service. read more

Not the biggest Binny's ever, but still very good in its selection. Looking for a special release beer? Check out the register area (the-- they had a few beers on display to let you know what was being held behind the counter. We realized after the fact that even the display wasn't 100% correct, and my guy found a different special release beer as we were paying the cashier. It was lucky we were at the register we were or he would've missed it completely. Will return if in the area. read more

Stopped in for something specific, with a blurry picture of a bottle and no name of what I was looking for... A pretty tall order.. Anyhow, greeted at the door by Jack who asked if I needed help. I showed him the blurry picture, thinking he would help me look around to see what it was... But Jack didn't have to. He immediately knew what the product was, and knew it wasn't on the shelf. He checked in back to see if they had any, which they didn't, but he let me know which days to call to see if they had it, and gave me a business card.
