Good for buying booze easily, but do NOT recommend purchasing a KEG of beer. Staff was not coordinated and equipment received was defective. Beer leaked all over my floor and manager was unapologetic about this even after admitting to another mistake, in addition to the defective equipment. Go small business for a keg. Binny's in Glencoe is terrible at Kegs; however, the Beer person was very nice and seemed competent, but the managers were horrible and do not care about customer service. I had a mind blowing experience here tonight at the Binny's in Glencoe. I stopped to pick up a bottle of wine and was helped by Robert Anderson the Wine Consultant. This guy seemed to know everything about wine and taught me more in 20 minutes than any high end sommelier ever has. I'm Greek and he knew all about Greek wines, and the Greek phrases to go with them. I wanted to know more about Sancere wines from France and he knew what type of soil adds or detracts from the grapes depending on the zone they are grown in. I've been to quite a few Binny's but this guy will be my go to for a long time! It goes without saying they had a great assortment with some amazing prices as well! read more

Here's what you need to know: Love Love Love the assistant manager, Barbara. She is so fun and full of energy. Makes it her business to make sure every customer is well looked after. The selection in this store is terrific because it's not as intensely busy as other flagship locations. Of the three Binny's locations I have frequented this one ranks the lowest. On our most recent visit there was an older gentleman at the counter who was kind of grumpy. We had come in for a case of a particular type of beer but they only had two six packs left. He couldn't be bothered to help us look in other places for more and then had the audacity to tell us that it was our fault, if we had only come earlier we would have been able to complete our case. Well that's just not helpful. Still a Binny's fan but probably won't be coming here again. read more

The best Binnys bar none because the staff is just the best. The general Manager obviously knows how to run this store because staff are genuinely friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I love the wine tastings and champagne tastings they regularly have. When I walk in I'm always greeted and asked if I need assistance or suggestions for wines and its got pretty much every wine I could ask for. I tend to not buy beer but it looks like they have a rather large selection too. My only critique is that their new location looks like it's closed all the time because of the darkened windows and I think this may hurt this store. I certainly hope this store lasts because it's so much better than the larger one in HP on Skokie Blvd. read more

This shop has four of the best people in the business all working under the same roof. Robert in Wine has helped my wife and I several times when trying to find champagne for various occasions all while sharing stories of how he and his wife went to France and the places to see should we ever go. Then he'd pivot and talk baseball ranging from today all the way back to the 1950 pirates. Barb is a firecracker and a no-nonsense professional who will talk about smokey whiskey with you and then make a recommendation off your chat. She's incredibly thoughtful and wants to make sure you're taken care of. Jason, is always happy to connect and catch up on the local goings on from the news to the latest lego drops to sports, he runs the gambit and does it with a smile and of course, Dan, giving whiskey insights, recommendations, and looks you in the eye while offering a firm handshake after every purchase encouraging you to come back again and see them. The whole team is a delight to interact with which is why I would recommend anyone who's looking for holiday libations to come to visit this store and know, wholeheartedly, you'll be taken care of from start to finish! read more

This is a cute, mini Binny's thats located in a convenient location, and is perfect for last minute party necessities. Binny's always has good prices and every type of alcohol you could ever think of, and the beauty of thise one is it's just a scaled-down version of the regular store. Probably the worst Binny's in the Chicagoland area. The locations in the city are much better. The selection is lacking. And even worse, the customer service. The people who work at this location do not have the knowledge nor background to work at a high-end liquor store. Wine knowledge was especially lacking. read more

I've never written a Yelp review before, i may never write one again; but the service i just received at the Glencoe Binny's was so outstanding, i felt like the money spent on my purchase was not enough compensation. A friendly woman named Barbara went way above and beyond in helping me obtain a rare item to give as a gift this holiday season, and in the process not only saved Christmas, but restored a little bit of my faith in humanity. ...Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration -- i think i'm still in shock from being treated as both a valued customer and a human being. read more

I stopped into this location roughly a month ago while I was in the area for some errands. While I had no set intention on purchasing anything specific, I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff willing to help offer recommendations. Jason specifically went more than above and beyond in offering insightful recommendations and meaningful explanations on why he recommended an item. Ultimately I walked out with a bottle of whiskey and then a few bottles of wine I would've never thought to buy on my own. This location was doing a wine tasting later in the day that Jason recommended I come back for to help explore some wines I may have never tried. When coming back again he immediately offered assistance and pointed me in the direction of a few choices that resonated with the information given to him, instead of just a random bottle on the shelf. Both of the wines he pointed to specifically I shared with friends and all parties agreed I made the right choices through Jason. Not only did I benefit twice that day by visiting, but also a few folks around me got to experience the wine and recommendations as well. Wholeheartedly recommend visiting and will return as often as possible. read more

The customer service has dwindled since this store has grown in all departments. I, myself have come in looking for beer (not all "hard to get" beers) and the answer is ALWAYS no. There was a certain release of a particular beer and I was looking for a bottle and was told by the beer guy, i think his name is Mark, that this Binnys location did not receive anyway. Then on my way out of the store he handed a separate customer the EXACT bottle I was looking for, I didn't become irate but shook my head in disappointment and thought this store sucks and I have been coming to this store for at least 10 years. Mark had a good knowledge of beer but has absolutely no clue about customer service, is always on his cell phone catering to what he said were other "traders" not taking care of his direct almost weekly customers looking to try new things. I have been coming in less and less and I know a few other families that are purposely going out of their way to not shop at this location or even Binnys at all. We are all not shy when it comes to purchasing alcohol. Also, I would imagine the manager I think his name is Dean does not have a clear understanding of customer service as he cannot seem to focus on a customer (myself) or a conversation and he becomes a space cadet, not paying attention to what you want, but focuses on himself instead. Rendering the conversation a waste of time. The new lady also is of no help as she stays by the computer (at least she has been every time I have come in). Overall I would say Mark needs to understand the value of direct customer service not worry about what's happening on his cell phone and Dean needs to act like a manager at all times and not become childish in tense situations, he is a manager; he should have been trained for these situations. Either he is ignorant to the fact or he clearly has no idea (maybe he is not cut out for this responsibility)...There are a couple of gems in the store, Greg and Jason. Both of these guys are extremely helpful when it comes to finding a certain item in the store (greg and jason) or to either an outstanding upper tier wine to an unexpected good wine (jason). Jason not only has had good reccomendations, he provides good insight and is attentive to what the customer wants and is willing to take a risk. ...I am suprised there have not been more complaints like this. read more
