Preston St. Location…read more Takes 5+ hours to be seen on almost any day, even by someone for intake. Went for refill of a medication and was told I should go see an NP instead and when I mentioned I couldn't comfortably afford it, was met with a mocking tone about it. Went on two different days and didn't see anyone either because I can't spend more than 6+ hours at a clinic just waiting when I have to work. They got as far as faxing my pharmacy but gave them an incorrect number to send files to. They have huge issues with communicating information about cost of services and transferring any kind of files at all their locations from what I've heard from others. Walk in only, even if you're rostered, no appointments with the same doctor which causes issues with consistency of care. They very obviously take on way more patients than they can handle, and do not care about quality of care. Ended up digging out of my emergency fund to see an NP elsewhere.

This is possibly one of the worst clinics for a walkin patient…read more Since My family Dr. retired a few months ago I had little choice but to visit a clinic. They told me that they had no Doctors at the site and I would have to be seen by a NP (Nurse Practitioner) , which for whatever reason carries a charge of $97, and is not covered by OHIP ,nor my health plan with my employer (Government of Canada) as I found out later. They did not bother informing me that the fee was not covered by anyone , and if that wasn't bad enough Their service was subpar at best and the Nurse had an absolute terrible bedside manor. After talking for about 5 minutes she was done and prescribed some medication. when she came back into the room I wanted to inform her that I was also experiencing some chest pains, to which she replied "Sorry, I'm out of time", having spent 5 minutes with me. My recommendation is to AVOID THIS CLINIC LIKE THE PLAGUE !!

There is only 1 employee besides the doctor working, they are not staffed enough to handle the amount of people needing to be seen. It is the only location in the city open to see walk in patients so I don't have much of a choice but to wait. And the staff member working is not very helpful, she ignores patients, gives false wait times and is generally frazzled. I feel bad for her but at the same time someone needs to train the staff here better. If you can go anywhere else in the city I'd recommend it

This clinic is what is wrong with healthcare in Ontario. They take the "fast food" approach to…read moretreating their patients. Sometimes it feels like they just want to get as many people through the clinic as humanly possible. The clinic is brand new, and attached to the Rexall Pharmaplus. There some parking adjacent to the clinic. There's also a physiotherapy clinic inside the Appletree. The automatic registration system is flawless, which means you don't often have to directly interact with the front desk. That being said, shouldn't they have some kind of reception duties like greeting patients or reassuring people about wait times. If you do inquire about rough wait times they staff seem annoyed due to the recurring question. Well, maybe they should be keeping the people waiting up to date? Although it's possible to check wait times on the Appletree app or on the website, the data's often stale, meaning out of date because they staff only update it every 15 minutes (at best). Brace yourself for a long wait. Always make you bring a book, or better yet something to listen to. You're barraged with relentless medical ads and ridiculous music. Talk about a nauseating environment! The care here is dependent solely on whatever doctor is booked for that time period, meaning the hours fluctuate depending on who is practicing that day. As a result you could have a horrible to mediocre experience, but regardless, it's impossible to follow up on a recurring issue due to the fact that the doctors shuffle around between clinics. You basically have to chase them down if you want to speak to the same doctor twice. Note: They're piloting a program here (and at several other Appletree's) called Telemedicine. Sound scary? A little. This involves videoconferencing with a doctor in Toronto and be assessed by a medical student or foreign doctor upgrading their credentials. As with the in person visits, I've had varying success. One doctor prescribed me a medication that even the pharmacist disagreed with and that all research showed that it wasn't a clinically relevant treatment to my diagnosis. Cool. During my last visit, the attending doctor openly admitted that Appletree care was poor, and that I needed to find a family doctor asap. Duh. I really could go on forever about the care provided here, but if you're sick and without a family doctor, your options are limited. The one saving grace about this clinic is the pharmacist next door at the Rexall, but that being said, she's not affiliated with Appletree, haha. One of the doctors actually left to consult with her about a treatment, which I thought was pretty funny. Good luck dear friends! It's a tough world out there for those of us without a family doctor.

Three hours later I finally saw the doctor. He seemed unwilling to find real solutions to my sore throat, took a swab and suggested I call back in a couple days because they often forget to call people. My overall impression was chronic mismanagement and incompetence, I will not be back and would strongly suggest trying a different walk in clinic the next time I am ill, or probably tomorrow since my issues weren't resolved.

I approach the desk and neither say "hello" or "can I help you" nor is there a smile at all. Instead I see the receptionist on the left look to the one on the right while the one on the right stared with a scowl. No words have been exchanged yet. It was very icy. In the awkwardness of this, I said "hello? Sorry I got no feedback and it seemed like you were not available to help". I mentioned the sign outside and that I would like to register. One receptionist Offered a *list* while the other one very hesitantly offered I see a Doctor while looking away from me. When I saw the Doctor and mentioned that I was looking for a Family Doctor, she said how did you hear about us and I mentioned the sign outside "accepting new patients". She said Yes but we're slowing down and offered a *list* of other Doctors. Essentially, they are looking for "certain kinds" of patients and will give you the *list* if you are not the patient they are looking for. Another possibility is that the practice may be required to reach a certain patient quota but they don't want too many patients so they put an "accepting new patients" sign up showing the government that they are in fact trying but nobody shows up (which is a lie of course). That way they can keep their numbers down.

I say it makes no sense not to let the patient know about the appointment she say it was not her duty to do that, but mine to go register, but when you have a sickness normal you do not think. Well this week, my wife had an appointment so we went, guess what that doctor instead helping her told us to find another doctor because I start a big fight in the Medical Clinic, wow exagerated by the secretary I told the doctor what she did that day, but he defending her indeed.
