What a gem. I came here somewhat on a whim on a five-hour layover in Warsaw, and wow am I glad I…read moredid. First thing you notice is the ambiance; I was seated outside in their courtyard, which is a secluded oasis tucked away from the street. Service was friendly but relaxed. I started with a glass of wine and the herring nigiri appetizer. Prior to coming here, I was pretty unfamiliar with the cuisine of Poland and surrounds, so the herring was a fully new type of flavor for me. The presentation was beautiful, the type of dish inventive, and the flavors themselves delicious and well- balanced. My second dish, the cauliflower, was very creatively prepared and was also delicious, if unfortunately slightly on the saltier side. I ended with the scallop ceviche risotto. WOW. This is the BEST risotto I have ever had. It's hard to describe; the interplay between the flavors was unmatched - and all the ingredients were as fresh as can be. I still dream of this risotto to this day.

I discovered alewino on Michelin Guide. I love to explore local bistros and wine bar when I'm…read moretraveling to a new city. I highly recommend making reservations in advance. For a weeknight, they were packed! Also, the entrance is tucked away from the main street. Look for and follow the sign to lead you to the entrance. The first thing you see as you entered the restaurant is bottles and bottles of wine on the shelves. I really can't tell you the overall space because I felt like I went from one room to another, pass the kitchen, through another room and was seated in a small room with about 6 or 7 tables. It's almost like a maze. I can tell most of the patron are locals. Friends meeting after work for drinks and a quick bite to eat. I know I'm in the right place :-) The menu is small and seasonal with the intention to order/taste every dish because the portion is small too. We started off with Bulion, which is a broth soup with duck dumplings. It was delicious and savory. The ginger in the broth soup warmed my stomach. It was exactly what I needed for our first night in Warsaw. According to other yelpers, we have to order the beef tartare. I'm not big on raw beef but it tasted better than I expected. The beef tartare is served on top of potato pancake. The potato sort of mellow out the raw meat taste. Great presentation! Chicken Liver Parfait served on a buttermilk bread was probably my favorite dish. I know liver is not for the faint of heart, but when it's done right, it's chef kiss! Chicken liver is incredibly good for us and a nutrient-dense superfood packed with protein and vitamins. I wish I can see more dishes like this served in the states. Foie Gras sales and production is strictly restricted in most states. We just have to try it whenever we are in Europe. YOLO! It's rich and buttery and served on a even more buttery brioche. Very filling. Skrei was a fish dish that we should of skipped. It was served on a big pile of foam and herbs with very little fish (see pic.). It's something I expect at a high end 13 course tasting menu, not at a wine bar. We each had a glass of Badenhorst Family White Wine. It wasn't the best I had but it works for the occasion. Tips: Service is slow and that's just how the European roll. Be patience and enjoy the view and take in the moment that you're in Poland! They charge for water and 10% service charge.

Both the service and food were top-notch, and the atmosphere added a special touch to our dinner. I'd definitely recommend this place for a casual visit or a special occasion.

We definitely wanted to visit this place when in Warsaw as an avid fans of…read more "Good morning TVN" where chef Andrzej Polan is a guest very often. The restaurant is very cozy and tucked on Emily Plater street. We did not have reservation, and visited during lunch hours, but seating outside was not problem. However we were advised that reservation is usually needed. Staff was very nice and accommodated us immediately. The menu is short with some polish classics deconstructed in some way. We had : Tartare--it is a Polish staple and I must admit I can put it on my top list. Very delicate, brilliantly combined with all the toppings. You can feel the quality of the meat on the first bite. Marinated Herring--with soured milk was another delicious dish that made our experience a pleasure one. Served on baked potatoes were a great starter without argument. Sour Cucumber Soup--another dish famous for Polish cuisine. Nice deconstruction with horseradish and smoked trout was very interesting. Deer Pate--served with young beets, currants, home mayo and bread, served with homemade bread. All the good things ready to spread on the fresh bread. They also have good selection of wine and craft local beers. I wish we could try more menu items and I believe they would be as good as everything that we had tried. I am happy that I could try your food Mr. Andrzej Polan. Od samego poczatku chcielismy odwiedzic to miejsce podczas pobytu w Warszawie. Jestesmy fanami 'Dziendobry TVN" gdzie szef Andrzej Polan czesto gosci. Zupa ogorkowa--kolejne danie znane w polskiej kuchni. Fajna dekonstrukcja podania z chrzanem i wedzonym pstragiem byla bardzo interesujaca. Pasztet z Jelenia--serwowany z mlodymi buraczkami, porzeczkami, majonezem i swojskim chlebem. Wszystkie pyszne rzeczy gotowe do posmarowania na swiezy chleb. Polana Smakow ma rowniez dobra selekcje win i piw rzemieslniczych. Zaluje ze nie moglismy sprobowac wiecej pozycji z menu gdyz jestem przekonanyz, ze wszystko bylo by rownie smaczne. Jestesmy bardzo zadowoleni ,ze moglismy sprobowac tego jedzenia panie Andrzeju.
