Receptionist didn't get my name, what tooth was causing issues...nothing. So I called Metro Oral Surgery. They did not have an appt until the end of the month (today is May 7) and surgery not available until June. Surgery? I just need a tooth pulled. I asked what am I supposed to do about the pain. She said "I don't know. Call Dixieland Dental" who does not accept insurance and it's cash only. I called Foundation Dental and have an appt tomorrow. Dothan Dental...you just lost a patient!

First visit excellent. Second visit I only saw the dental hygienist. By the way she was excellent both times. The doctor never showed. I got tired of waiting and left. The third visit was for a cleaning and a crown. Again the cleaning was excellent. Kudos to his dental hygienist. That's the only nice thing I can say about the visit. Taking off my crown was pure pain. I beat on the chair with both arms trying to let him know he was hurting me but he never let up. He never apologized. Not one dang word! I am so angry with him that I will never go back to that office even though I would love to have his dental hygienist clean my teeth but I won't give him the satisfaction or any more of my money. Well, that time came around again. They had to start by doing xrays & a cleaning in order to give a proper evaluation. I told them I needed to be gassed if they were going to do any probing, scraping, drilling, in my mouth. They didn't judge me, make me feel bad for letting it get to this point, etc. They built the sedation and gas into my bill for every visit [ended up needing 7 total for all the work I had to have done, I just finished the 2nd one today] & I thought I was going to have to have 4 false teeth put in but they told me they could do a different, cheaper, method instead. Everyone from billing department to dental assistant to dentist are so incredibly friendly. I couldn't be happier & my fear of the dentist is beginning to subside. Yay!

Perhaps the quality care, is why I never needed something more than a cleaning!! While it is hard to rate a trip to ANY dentist very high, Dr. Nowell and his team were always top notch. I never recall waiting in the lobby for very long. And his hygienists were friendly, efficient, and pleasant. And for the most part, they never changed and stayed in his office for years. Something I thought was pretty normal until I started going other places. If you are in Dothan and in need of a dentist, you wouldn't get a recommendation for anyone else.
